Purpose: The Objective of this study is to explore the capabilities of an integrated modelling and simulation workflow when applied to an experiment-based research process, aimed at deriving daylight optimization strategies specific to tall buildings. Methods: Two methods were devised to apply this workflow with the help of DIVA and Rhino/Grasshopper. The first method is a multiple variant analysis by setting up an appropriate base case and analysing its daylight and energy performance, forming the basis of comparison for subsequent cases for design variants. The second method involved setting up the base case within a site context and conducting a solar irradiation study. An architectural variables such as overhang and shading device, were then defined as inputs in the parametric definition in Grasshopper to control the selected variable. Results: While the first method took advantage of the speed and efficiency of the integrated workflow, the second method was derived based on the ability to directly process simulation data within the integrated, single-software platform of the proposed workflow. Through these methods, different architectural strategies were explored, both to increase daylight penetration and to reduce radiant heat gain. The focus is on methods by which this workflow can be applied to facilitate the experimental derivation of daylight optimization strategies that are specific to tall building design.
Anesthetic machines may be equipped with either a precision or nonprecision vaporizer. A precision vaporizer is designed to deliver an exact concentration of anesthetic agent. Goldman vaporizer is a low-flow, closed-circle circuit with a low resistance vaporizer, in circuit. Vaporizers used within circle system(VIC) are not usually temperature compensated and this is generally thought to be a disadvantage. As the volatile agent is vaporized, heat is extracted from the liquid and temperature decreases. This cooling of the liquid leads to a decrease in concentration of the anaesthetic agent delivered by the vaporizer. The purpose of this study is to examine the mechanical consistency of the delivery of isoflurane from Goldman vaporizer and precision vaporizer at various gas flow rates and temperatures. And we first studied isoflurane concentration according to room temperature changes delivered by a Goldman vaporizer and precision vaporizer using different gas flow. The room temperature of $15^{\circ}C,$$20^{\circ}C,$$28^{\circ}C$ and fresh gas flow rates of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 l/min were used. The inspired agent concentration was measured using a Datex-Ohmeda multigas analyzer. As rose in room temperature, the isoflurane concentration of precision vaporizer approximated the dial setting. On the other hand, at a dial setting concentration of 5.0 percent the delivered isoflurane concentration of precision vaporizer was more than the dial setting in high temperature. The isoflurane concentration of precision vaporizer remained constant despite the increase in temperature. The isoflurane concentration of Goldman vaporizer was increased with rise in room temperature and decreased with rise in gas flow.
The setting and hardening of concrete is accompanied with nonlinear temperature distribution caused by development of hydration heat of cement. Especially at early ages, this nonlinear distribution has a large influence on the crack evolution. As a result, in order to predict the exact temperature history in concrete structures it is required to examine thermal properties of concrete. In this study, the convection heat transfer coefficient which presents thermal transfer between surface of concrete and air, was experimentally investigated with variables such as velocity of wind, curing condition and ambient temperature. At initial stage, the convection heat transfer coefficient is overestimated by the evaporation quantity. So it is essential to modify the thermal equilibrium considered with the boiling effect. From experimental results, the convection heat transfer coefficient was calculated using equations of thermal equilibrium. Finally, the prediction model for equivalent convection heat transfer coefficient including effects of velocity of wind, curing condition, ambient temperature and boiling effects was theoretically proposed. The convection heat transfer coefficient in the proposed model increases with velocity of wind, and its dependance on wind velocity is varied with curing condition. This tendency is due to a combined heat transfer system of conduction through form and convection to air. From comparison with experimental results, the convection heat transfer coefficient by this model was well agreed with those by experimental results.

As a result of this study, we reached the following conclusions. With appropriate setting of oil pressure and flow rate, it operated same rotation speed with existing cooler by electrical transmission. In initial operation, a temperature of a cold storage is lower rapidly. As an internal temperature of a cold storage is lower, a decreasing rate of temperature is lower. As a result of comparing the both type, the cooler of oil pressure type showed the following results. The decreasing rate of temperature was more faster and shorter operating time was more shorter than existing cooler of electric type. The actual case of a cold storage, the cooler of oil pressure type can prevent quality deterioration and decrease power consumption. As an internal temperature of a cold storage is lower, power consumption increased rapidly, the oil pressure type showed lower power consumption. COP of two of these types decreased continuously as the internal temperature of a cold storage being reach setting temperature, and that of oil pressure type showed higher amount about 25%. As a setting temperature is lower, the number of refrigerator's operating times are less and operating time is longer, so power consumption is increased in the maintenance of a cold storage's internal temperature, power consumption of hydraulic type showed lower amount about 21~25% in two of these types.

In this study, to reduce the hydration heat velocity (HHV) of high-strength mass concrete at early ages, phase change materials (PCM) that could absorb hydration heat were applied, and the changes in autogenous shrinkage were investigated, as well as the relationship between the hydration temperature and autogenous shrinkage. The acceleration of the cement hydration process by the PCM leads to an early setting and a higher development of the compressive strength and elastic modulus of concrete at very early ages. The function of PCM could be worked below the original melting point due to the eutectic effect, while the hydration temperature and HHV of high-strength mass concrete can be decreased through the use of the PCM. A close relationship was found between the hydration temperature and autogenous shrinkage: the higher the HHV, the greater the ultimate autogenous shrinkage.

In statutes on the promotion of distribution of new and renewable energy, which were revised in 2014, daylight system and fuel cell were added in addition to existing new and renewable energy sources. This study, therefore, aimed at setting up targets for the introduction of daylight system and analyzing the installation rate of new and renewable energy which can be provided by daylight system for the aggressive use of daylight system, thereby deducting the optimal combination ratio with other new and renewable energy sources. The results of the study are as follows. First, when a prism-shaped daylight system was installed to a round indoor gymnasium among domestic indoor gymnasiums, out of a supply obligations allotment rate of 15% of new and renewable energy, the rate of daylight system was basically set at 2.5%. Second, therefore, with daylight system coming first, the lacked supply obligations rate was taken up by solar photovoltaic, solar heat and geothermal heat. In addition, using the KRESS Program, economic, technical, environmental and complexity evaluations for the upper 5% was made, deducting the optimal ratio of the system. The results produced the following optimal combination ratios: solar photovoltaic (83.3%) in economic evaluation, solar heat (8.3%) and geothermal heat (75%) in technical evaluation, solar photovoltaic (83.3%) in environmental evaluation, and solar photovoltaic (83.3%, the same as in economic evaluation) in complexity evaluation.
Purpose: Corn is a major commercial crop targeted for genetic modification owing to its high consumer demand as a foodstuff for humans and livestock, as well as its other industrial applications. However, the safety of genetically modified (GM) crops is controversial. Indeed, several countries have banned the importation of GM seeds that can germinate. Therefore, development of effective, convenient, and nondestructive methods to inhibit seed germination is required. Methods: This study aimed to examine the efficacy of microwave heat treatment for inhibition of germination of corn kernels and for optimization of power and exposure time required for effective aging treatment. Artificial inhibition was induced in corn kernels using microwave heat treatment. Seven power levels were examined (400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, and 1000 W) at each of the four exposure times (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 min). Results: Corn kernels could be aged effectively after heating for 0.5~1.0 min at powers greater than 800 W, with increasing efficacy observed at higher powers. Further analysis showed that the most effective inhibition of germination was observed at 1000 W for 40 s. This setting did not cause any physical damage to the corn kernels. Conclusions: Optimal inhibition of corn kernel germination was achieved using higher power for shorter times, which may be useful for industrial corn seed treatment.

This study has examined the effect of bottom ash(BA) on the properties of low heat-blended cement(LHC) and concrete. A number of binders were prepared by the replacement of LHC with BA in range of 5$^{\sim}$20wt%. The results showed that the final setting time of cement paste were delayed when the BA replaced part of the cement. However, The heat of hydration increased narrowly with adding BA in a early hydration period. The results also showed the inclusion of BA at replacement levels of 5$^{\sim}$10wt% resulted in an increase in compressive strength of the specimens compared with that of the control concrete and improved a resistance of concrete against the sulfate and chlorine ion.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM. Poor wettability of denture relining materials may lead to retention problems and patient discomfort. PURPOSE. Purpose of this study is to compare and evaluate wettability of nine denture relining materials using contact angle measurements under air and water storage over time. MATERIAL AND METHODS. Nine denture relining materials were investigated in this study. Two heat-curing polymethyl-methacrylate(PMMA) denture base materials: Vertex RS, Lang, one self-curing polyethyl-methacrylate(PEMA) chairside reline resin: Rebase II, six silicone relining materials: Mucopren soft, Mucosoft, $Mollosil^{{R}}$ plus, Sofreliner Touch, GC $Reline^{TM}$ Ultrasoft, Silagum automix comfort were used in this experiment. Contact angles were measured using high-resolution drop shape analysis system(DSA 10-MK2, KRUESS, Germany) under three conditions(in air after setting, 1 hour water storage, and 24 hours water storage). Nine materials were classified into three groups according to material composition(Group 1: PMMA, Group 2: PEMA, Group 3: Silicone). Mean values of contact angles were compared using independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA, followed by a Scheffe's post hoc analysis($\alpha$=0.01). RESULTS. Contact angles of materials tested after air and water storage increased in the following order: Group 1(PMMA), Group 2(PEMA), Group 3(Silicone). Heat-cured acrylic denture base resins had more wettability than silicone relining materials. Lang had the highest wettability after 24 hours of water storage. Silicone relining materials had lower wettability due to their hydrophobicity. Wettability of all denture relining materials, except Rebase II and $Mollosil^{{R}}$ plus, increased after 24 hours of water storage. CONCLUSIONS. Conventional heat-cured resin showed the highest wettability, therefore, it can be suggested that heat-cured acrylic resin is material of choice for denture relining materials.

This paper evaluates the effect of hot weather conditions on the fresh concrete characteristics of 80-MPa high-strength concrete. The slump flow, packing ability, setting time, hydration heat, and compressive strength were evaluated under exterior temperatures of $20^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, and $40^{\circ}C$. The slump flow, arrival speed of 500 mm, and their changes with the elapsed time were found to bring the occurrence of rapid slump loss forward by about 30 minutes when increasing the temperature by $10^{\circ}C$ from $20^{\circ}C$. The initial and final setting times of the concrete at $20^{\circ}C$ were 7 hours and 12 hours, which were reduced by 1 hour and 3 hours at $30^{\circ}C$ and by 2 hours and 5 hours at $40^{\circ}C$, respectively. The hydration heat characteristics at $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ were similar in terms of the highest temperature of the concrete casting depth and the time when the maximum temperature occurred. However, at $40^{\circ}C$, the maximum temperature occurred about 4 hours earlier, and the highest temperature per the concrete casting depth increased by about $12^{\circ}C$. Therefore, it is concluded that the characteristics can vary according to the exterior temperature. Thus, quality assurance should consider workability, temperature cracks due to hydration heat, the properties of strength development, and other characteristics.
