The present study was conducted to determine whether ESCO Business is success or not. ESCO Business recovers the investment costs by the energy savings resulting from complementing existing energy facilities. The guaranteed parameters are Quantity of Heat Recovery, and Generator output drop. The results of the Performance Test show that the Quantity of Heat Recovery increased by 11.52 Gcal/h, and Generator output decreased by 0.234 MW, which satisfied the guarantee value.
Hot air heater with light oil combustion is used as the most common heater for greenhouse heating in the winter season. However, exhaust gas heat discharged to atmosphere through chimney reaches up to 10~20% of total heat capacity of the oil burred. In order to recover the heat of this exhaust gas and to use for greenhouse heating, the heat pipe type exhaust heat recovery system was manufactured and tested in this experiment. The system consisted of a heat exchanger made of heat pipes, ø15.88${\times}$600mm located in the rectangular box of 675(L)${\times}$425(W)${\times}$370(H)mm, an air suction fan and air ducts. The number of heat pipe was 60, calculated considering the heat exchange amount between exhaust gas and air and heat transfer capacity of a heat pipe. The working fluid of heat pipe was acetone because acetone is known for its excellent heat transfer capacity. The system was attached to the exhaust gas path. According to the performance test it could recover 53,809 to 74,613kJ/h depending on the inlet air temperature of 12 to -12˚at air flow rate of 1.100㎥/h. The temperature of the exhaust gas left the heat exchanger dropped to 100$^{\circ}C$ from 270$^{\circ}C$ after the heat exchange between the suction air and the exhaust gas.
In this paper, we performed numerical analysis to improve the heat exchange efficiency of wasted heat recovery ventilator which has a delivery and a exhaustion fan. One of the most important design factors that affect the efficiency of heat exchange is uniform counter-flow between inbound and outbound air flows. We had simulated several types of porous plates which were installed at air intake area. With plate having 45 degrees of installation angle and 15 mm diameter holes which are uniformly arranged, we can generate a uniform air flows at the area of porous media where inbound and outbound air flows are cross over. In addition, we installed a duct to reduce vortex flows at the outlet and to discharge exhaust airs rapidly. By using the proposed numerical assessment, we expect the improvement of the heat exchange efficiency of ventilator.

This study investigates the air leakage and heat transfer characteristics of a commercially available rotary-type air-to-air heat exchanger with a fiber polyester matrix. Crossover leakage between the exhaust and supply air is measured using a tracer gas method for various ventilation rates and rotational speeds of the wheel. A correlation equation for the leakage is obtained by summing up pressure leakage and carryover leakage. The pressure leakage is observed to be a function of ventilation rate only, and the carryover leakage is found to be a linear function of wheel speed. The real efficiency of the heat exchanger can be obtained from its apparent efficiency by taking into account the leakage ratio. The heat recovery efficiency decreases, as the ventilation rate increases. As the wheel speed increases, however, the efficiency increases initially but reaches a constant value for the speeds over 10rpm.
The present study has been conducted to develop a heat recovery system for a 1 MW class gas engine based cogeneration system. In the cogeneration system, heat is recovered from two parts, which are jacket water and exhaust gas. The heat from the jacket water is recovered by a plate type heat exchanger and used for the room heating and/or hot water supply. The heat from the exhaust gas is used to generate steam. For both of the heat recovery devices, 1/5 scaled tests are performed and the data are compared to the conventional correlations for the design.

The leakage airflow rate is measured using a tracer gas method for various ventilation rates and rotational speeds of the matrix wheel. A 2-loop waste heat recovery system with Rankine steam cycles for the improvement of fuel efficiency of gasoline vehicles has been investigated. A high temperature loop(HT loop) is a system to recover the waste heat from the exhaust gas, a low temperature loop(LT loop) is for heat recovery from the engine coolant cold relatively. This paper has dealt with a layout of a LT loop system, the review of the working fluids, and the design of the cycle. The design point and the target heat recovery of the LT boiler, a core part of a LT loop, has been presented and analytically investigated. Considering the characteristics of the cycle, the basic concept of the LT boiler has been determined as a shell-and tube type counterflow heat exchanger, the performance characteristics for various design parameters were investigated.
In order to improve the overall efficiency and meet the emission regulations of boiler systems, the heat exchanging methods between inlet air and exhaust gas have been used in boiler systems, named as the waste-heat-recovery condensing boiler. Recently, to further improve the overall efficiency and to reduce the NOx emission simultaneously, the concept of the water injection into the inlet air is introduced. This study suggests the models for the optimized design parameters of water injection for waste-heat-recovery condensing boilers and performs the analysis regarding the water injection amount and droplet sizes for the optimized water injection. At first, the required amount of the water injection was estimated based on the 1st law of thermodynamics under the assumption of complete evaporation of the injected water. The result showed that the higher the inlet air and exhaust gas temperature into the heat exchanger, the larger the amount of injected water is needed. Then two droplet evaporation models were proposed to analyze the required droplet size of water injection for full evaporation of injected water: one is the evaporation model of droplet in the inlet air and the other is that on the wall of heat exchanger. Based on the results of two models, the maximum allowable droplet sizes of water injection were estimated in various boiler operating conditions with respect to the residence time of the inlet air in the heat exchanger.
