Adsorption characteristics of 1,2-dichlorobenzene on the surface of heat treated silica gel were determined by the moment analysis. The heat treatment of the silica gel was performed at temperatures of 150, 500, and $800^{\circ}C$ and pulse-response of 1,2-dichlorobenzene was measured in a gas chromatograph equipped with thermal conductivity detector (TCD) using the packed column. Equilibrium adsorption constants and isosteric heat of adsorption were recorded the highest value at $500^{\circ}C$. This might be due to the increase of interaction between silica surface and 1,2-dichlorobenzene as the decrease of OH concentration and moisture by increase of heating temperature. Axial dispersion coefficient calculated by the moment method was about $0.046{\times}10^{-4}{\sim}1.033{\times}10^{-4}m^2/sec$ and pore diffusivity of heat treated silica gel at $500^{\circ}C$ measured the lowest value. Because heat treating at $800^{\circ}C$ caused the specific surface area to reduce, equilibrium adsorption constants and isosteric heat of adsorption were decreased.

We analyze in detail axially symmetric theoretical study for the photothermal pulsed radiometry of a cylindrical model. The theoretical solutions describe the transient infrared radiation from the sample heated by short-duration pulsed heating. In the conventional transmission radiometry technique, the excitation source and the detector are on opposite sides of the sample, otherwise in the new single ended radiometry technique, the excitation source and the detector are on same sides of the sample. The analytical solution described for photothermal radiometry in this study would not need to cut or polish samples to measure the thermal diffusivity. Therefore the radial area and axial thickness of samples are not limited. The effects of excitation pulse duration and the area of heat source are discussed.
Flame detectors has been used more than heat & smoke detector, because this is more effective to catch fire and ceiling height in spite of high price. For upgrade to flame detector, Compare to national or abroad standard about performance test, sensitivity test, sectioning indoor or outdoor, after service and management. As a result, Europe and America have only sensitivity test, no have not operation test and sectioning indoor & outdoor. In performance test, action is put to focus to credit and durability, Not operation test is to be able to tune the sensitivity to match the environment of the site. Also, we need code about aftercare, quality assurance responsibility and implement special detector institution by Certificate Authority implement.
Identification of steady-state is the first step in developing a fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) system. In a complete FDD system, the steady-state detector will be included as a module in a self-learning algorithm which enables the working system's reference model to "tune" itself to its particular installation. In this study, a steady-state detector of a residential air conditioner based on moving windows was designed. Seven representing measurements were selected as key features for steady-state detection. The optimized moving window size and the feature thresholds was suggested through startup transient test and no-fault steady-state test. Performance of the steady-state detector was verified during indoor load change test. From the research, the general methodology to design a moving window steady-state detector was provided for vapor compression applications.
This paper is an analysis of the influence of ceiling air conditioner airflow on fire detector response. In order to analyze the response characteristics of fire detector while forming air flow of a ceiling-type air conditioner, fire tests were carried out in accordance with ISO standard. This experiment was carried out in a fire test site of 10 m (width) ${\times}$ 7 m (length) ${\times}$ 4 m (height). As a result of the experiment, the response of fire detector shows a normal pattern that is delayed as the distance from the fire source is increased in the absence of the air conditioner, but it is confirmed that the pattern is not maintained in the strong air flow. When the air flow of air conditioner was strong, the response time was increased by 121% in the smoke detector and by 39% in the heat detector. In the case of ceiling type air conditioners, it is considered that the number of fire detectors should be increased, or a detector with high sensitivity should be installed for early detection of fire.

In this paper, we present a low-cost fire detection system using a thermal camera and a smartphone. The developed system collects thermal and RGB videos from the developed camera. To detect fire, candidate fire regions are extracted from videos obtained using a thermal camera. The block mean of variation of adjacent frames is measured to analyze the dynamic characteristics of the candidate fire regions. After analyzing the dynamic characteristics of regions of interest, a fire is determined by the candidate fire regions. In order to evaluate the performance of our system, we compared with a smoke detector, a heat detector, and a flame detector. In the experiments, our fire detection system showed the excellent performance in detecting fire with an overall accuracy rate of 97.8 %.
This paper present the way the fire detector determines whether a fire has broken out or not using the fuzzy measure. This method is based on Dempster's combination rule using the belief measure. The detector indicate a 'Fire'(F) or 'Nonfire'(N) when it determines whether a fire has broken out or not. To determine this, the fuzzy rule is applied in the setting value for the heat and smoke detector which is used. As a result, It is proved that the final decision can be determined more exactly whether a fire has broken out or not in proportion to the frequency of the fuzzy measure and the value of Bel (F).
The high prediction performance of fire detector models is essentially needed to assure the reliability of fire and evacuation modeling in the process of PBD (Performance Based fire safety Design). The main objective of the present study is to measure input information in order to predict the accurate activation time of smoke detector into a Large Eddy Simulation (LES) fire model such as FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator). To end this, FDE (Fire Detector Evaluator) which can measure the device properties of detector was developed, and the input information of Heskestad and Cleary's models was measured for a ionization smoke detector. In addition, the activation times of smoke detectors predicted using default values into FDS and measured values in the present study were systematically compared. As a result, the device properties of smoke detector examined in the present study showed a significant difference compared to the default values used into FDS, which resulted in the considerable difference of up to 15 minutes or more in terms of the activation time of smoke detector. The database (DB) on device properties of various smoke and heat detectors will be built to improve the reliability of PBD in future studies.

The microchannel flow in miniature TCDs (thermal conductivity detectors) is investigated numerically. The solutions based on the boundary layer approximation are not very accurate in the region of the duct inlet for low Reynolds numbers. In this study, two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are considered to analyze the gas flow in a miniature TCD. Effects of channel size, inlet and boundary conditions on the heat transfer rate are examined. When the gas stream is not preheated, the distances for a miniature TCD to reach the conduction-dominant region for duct flow are found to be approximately two and three times the thermal entry length for duct flow with constant properties, respectively, leer constant wall temperature and constant wall heat flux boundary conditions. If the gas temperature at the channel inlet is close to the mean gas temperature in the conduction-dominant region, the entrance region is much shorter compared to other cases considered in this study.

The detector of a focal-plane-array mid-wave infrared (MWIR) camera has different response characteristics for each detector pixel, resulting in nonuniformity between detector pixels. In addition, image nonuniformity occurs due to heat generation inside the camera during operation. To solve this problem, in the process of camera manufacturing it is common to use a gain-and-offset table generated from a blackbody to correct the difference between detector pixels. One method of correcting nonuniformity due to internal heat generation during the operation of the camera generates a new offset value based on input frame images. This paper proposes a technique for dividing an input image into block image patches and generating offset values using only homogeneous patches, to correct the nonuniformity that occurs during camera operation. The proposed technique may not only generate a nonuniformity-correction offset that can prevent motion marks due to camera-gaze movement of the acquired image, but may also improve nonuniformity-correction performance with a small number of input images. Experimental results show that distortion such as flow marks does not occur, and good correction performance can be confirmed even with half the number of input images or fewer, compared to the traditional method.
