Objective : This study came to be carried out in order to develop oral health education program for maintaining adolescents' oral health and to be helpful for qualitative improvement in prevention program by surveying the awareness and behavior on preventive method of dental caries in adolescents. Method : The collected materials of totally 1,100 people who responded were carried out frequency analysis by using SPSS 12.0(Statistical Package for the Social Science). Results : 1. As for the results of awareness on fluoride effect and sealant effect, the students with response to 'effect of preventing decayed tooth' were indicated to be the highest. It was indicated to be the highest in girls as for gender and in the 2nd grade as for school year. (p<0.05). 2. As for the results of being created when eating sweet food and carbonated drink, the students with response as saying that 'a decayed tooth occurs well' were indicated to be the highest. 4. As for the results on the aim of visiting dental clinic, the students with response as saying of 'visiting for having treatment' when tooth is painful were indicated to be the highest. Conclusion : Synthesizing this study, the students' awareness on preventive method of dental caries was high. But the practice on regular check-up or diet was indicated to be low. Through oral health education, the adolescents should be not only delivered information or knowledge, but also changed habit and behavior.
Background : Blood pressure is an important indicator in diagnosis and assessing treatment of a patient. Clinical staffs use blood pressure on the assumption that measured value is accurate and reliable. However, whether measured blood pressure is accurate has been rarely investigated in Korea. Objectives : The aims of this study are to evaluate clinical staffs' knowledge and technique as well as accuracy of sphygmomanometer. Also the program to improve the measurement is developed. Methods : Seventy-three registered nurses were asked nine multiple choice questions including Korotkoff sound, cuff size, and deflation rate. Simultaneously characteristics of nurses were examined, age, working place, duration of employment and academic degree. A testing videotape(Standardizing Measurement Video-Tutored Course) was used for evaluating the accuracy of measurement. Testees were to read and record the 12 cases of blood pressure measurement, watching a falling mercury column and hearing Korotkoff sounds. After 10 minutes' education, they were again tested with the same cases. Additionally, 83 mercury sphygmomanometers were checked to find defects such as inaccurate calibration and zero setting, leaky bladder, etc. Results: For the knowledge testing correct response rate was 41.1%. They were the lowest in selecting the proper cuff size and Korotkoff sound. In examining accuracy of blood pressure with videotape, nurses had 67.7% correct response rate. The correct response rate was significantly improved by a session of education. About 23% of sphygmomanometers was without discernable defects. Conclusion : The knowledge and skill of clinical staffs along with the accuracy of equipment have to be improved. A properly designed education program would contribute to the accuracy improvement of blood pressure measurement. Also, more concerns should be given to the precision and maintenance of equipment.

Purpose: This research was conducted to investigate the characteristics of emotional exhaustion that Korean school nurses suffer, to suggest policy implications to address this issue, and to propose preventive and supervisory measures regarding emotional exhaustion experienced by school nurses in elementary, middle, and high schools in Korea. Methods: A survey was conducted under the authorization of Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education. Out of 400 copies first distributed, 376 copies were returned. Among the 376 copies, 117 copies which were judged insincere or from teachers with less than 1 year of experience were exclded from the study. Through this process, only 259 copies were finally selected. Results: As a result of assessing the fit of the model, it was found that 𝑥2=67.247 (df=28, p<.001), GFI=.953, AGFI=.911, TLI=0.936, CFI=0.965 and RMSEA=.074. Emotional exhaustion was found to have a direct effect on job demand (β=.26) and an indirect effect on stress response (β=.31). The total effect was β=.57. There was a positive complete indirect effect of β=.52 between emotional intelligence and emotional exhaustion. The total effect was not significant, respectively. Conclusion: Since job demands of school nurses affect emotional exhaustion, it is necessary to reconstruct their jobs and operations to alleviate their job demands.

Background and Objectives: There is growing interest in the use of the Level-specific (LS) CE-Chirp® stimulus in auditory brainstem response (ABR) due to its ability to produce prominent ABR waves with robust amplitudes. There are no known studies that investigate the test-retest reliability of the ABR to the LS CE-Chirp® stimulus. The present study aims to investigate the test-retest reliability of the ABR to the LS CE-Chirp® stimulus and compare its reliability with the ABR to standard click stimulus at multiple intensity levels in normal-hearing adults. Subjects and Methods: Eleven normal-hearing adults participated. The ABR test was repeated twice in the same clinical session and conducted again in another session. The ABR was acquired using both the click and LS CE-Chirp® stimuli at 4 presentation levels (80, 60, 40, and 20 dBnHL). Only the right ear was tested using the ipsilateral electrode montage. The reliability of the ABR findings (amplitudes and latencies) to the click and LS CE-Chirp® stimuli within the same clinical session and between the two clinical sessions was calculated using an intra-class correlation coefficient analysis (ICC). Results: The results showed a significant correlation of the ABR findings (amplitude and latencies) to both stimuli within the same session and between the clinical sessions. The ICC values ranged from moderate to excellent. Conclusions: The ABR results from both the LS CE-Chirp® and click stimuli were consistent and reliable over the two clinical sessions suggesting that both stimuli can be used for neurological diagnoses with the same reliability.

Purpose: To clarify the relationship between the diameter of the simulated bead and the Z-resolution of the tomosynthesis image. Methods: A simulated bead was placed on a 1,024×1,024×1,024-pixel base image. The diameters were set to 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.7, 1.0, and 1.3 mm. A bead was placed at the center of the base image and projected at a simulated X-ray angle range of ±45° to obtain a projected image. A region of interest was placed at the center of the bead image and the slice sensitivity profile (SSP) was obtained by acquiring pixel values in the z-direction. The full width at half maximum of the SSP was defined as the Z-resolution and the frequency response was obtained by the 1-D Fourier transform of the SSP. Results: Z-resolution increased with increasing bead diameter. However, there was no change in Z-resolution between 0.025 and 0.1 mm. The frequency response was similar to that of the Z-resolution, with a significant difference between 0.1 and 0.2 mm diameter. Conclusions: Z-resolution is dependent on the diameter of the bead, which should be selected considering the pixel size of the tomosynthesis image.
Purpose: The Ministry of Employment and Labor has been working hard to ensure the safety of workers due to heavy rain during natural disasters as the responsible ministry in charge of preventing industrial accidents and health problems for workers. Accordingly, the Ministry of Employment and Labor intends to analyze actual cases of responding to heavy rain disasters and suggest ways to improve the response system. Method: An emergency response system implemented to respond to heavy rain disasters with an internal expert group composed of those in charge of disaster work at headquarters, local government offices, and Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and an external expert group composed of professors, consulting representatives, and disaster managers from other ministries. Contents on self-inspection by industry, workplace inspection, use of serious siren, safety management and restoration work guidance were reviewed. Result: First of all, it is necessary to check the regular contact system from time to time, and it is also necessary to prepare and distribute detailed self-checklists for each industry. In addition, it is necessary to check the implementation of self-inspection when inspecting workplaces, and it seems necessary to have measures to increase the readability of information notified through serious disaster sirens. In addition, since safety work is done in the form of a contract, it seems necessary to prepare specific safety guidelines. Conclusion: In order to protect the lives of workers due to seasonal harm and risk factors, unlike the passive coping methods of the past, abnormal weather should not be regarded as an unexpected situation, and it should be actively and preemptively responding beyond the conventional framework.
Background: The existing research results on the combined toxicity of these pollutants using mammals, such as rodents, are insufficient, especially in relation to changes in the immune system. Objectives: This study aims at evaluating the cellular immune response to PE-MPs solely or when combined with Pb, which possess excellent adsorption capacity with PE-MPs and is commonly co-exposed in our daily lives. Methods: The study investigated the cellular immune function of 9-week ICR mice with 28 days exposure to PE-MPs (2 mg/mouse/day) and Pb (0.1 mM in distilled water) individually and in combination. PE-MPs were administered via gastric intubation while the lead intake was conducted via the oral drinking water route. Cellular immunity was evaluated by analyzing the production for TH1 cytokines namely, TNF-α and IFN-𝛾 and TH2 cytokines, IL-4 and IL-6 in culture supernatants from polyclonally activated splenic mononuclear cells ex vivo. Results: Both the PE-MPs only and the PE-MPs+Pb exposure group revealed an increased TH1 response with elevated TNF-α and IFN-𝛾 levels and downregulated TH2 response with low IL-4, and IL-6 production levels compared to the control group. Furthermore, an increased IFN-𝛾/IL-4 ratio was found in the PE-MPs only and PE-MPs+Pb exposure groups, which indicated the skewedness to TH1 response. Meanwhile, reduced blood hemoglobin levels and increased levels of IL-4, the dominant TH2 cytokine in the Pb-only exposure group, were observed. Conclusions: Our current findings on the predominance of TH1 immune response in the PE-MPs and PE-MPs+Pb groups suggest that PE-MPs could be responsible for the predominant induction of the cellular immune changes. This finding could be used as an important landmark in research related to TH1 predominance, such as autoimmune diseases. It suggests that additional research on immune modulation using longer exposure durations or the same exposure route is required to elucidate stronger findings.
Objectives : To determine which factors are related to young adults perception of their health. Two research questions were asked. Which aspects of health does self-perceived health as a index of general health reflect? Why do two individuals with the same level of general health have different health perceptions? Methods : The sampling frame comprised college or graduate school students, aged 20 to 29, who were members of A, one of the 4 biggest internet communication services. The questionnaires were sent to study samples(n=1,000) and answered by E-mail. Response rate was 37.0%. Results : Firstly, physical health ranked highest and self-perceived health ranked lowest. Secondly, health, anxiety, depression, and self-perceived health showed significant differences between the sexes, with women showing a higher health status in these categories except for self-perceived health. Thirdly, the two factors significantly related to self-perceived health were physical health and self-esteem, as determined by multivariate analysis, Conclusions : The factors significantly related to self-perceived health were physical health and self-esteem. Further studies of the health characteristics of young adults are needed.
In the previous sections, simple linear regression (SLR) 1 and 2, we developed a SLR model and evaluated its predictability. To obtain the best fitted line the intercept and slope were calculated by using the least square method. Predictability of the model was assessed by the proportion of the explained variability among the total variation of the response variable.
