임상간호사의 직무스트레스가 우울증에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Job Stress for Depression in Clinical Nurses)

  • Propose: To identify the effects of job stress for depression in clinical nurses. Method: The subjects were 304 clinical nurses in Busan Metropolitan City. Data was collected by questionnaire surveys using convenience sampling. The instruments used in this study were the short form of the Korean Occupational Stress Scale(KOSS-SF) and the Beck Depression Inventory-Korean Version Standard Ten(K-BDI STEN). Result: After adjusting potential confounders, we found that the group of 50~75% job stress score for interpersonal conflict was more likely to have depression than the group of less than 25%(OR=3.522, 95% CI 1.06~20.25). The group of equal or more than 75% job stress score for job insecurity was more likely to have depression than the groups of less than 25%(OR=9.413, 95% CI 4.00~71.03). The groups of equal or more than 75% and 50~ 75% job stress score for lack of reward was more likely to have depression than the group of less than 25%, respectively(OR=19.302, 95% CI 2.50~244.25; OR=38.201, 95% CI=6.25~344.45). Conclusion: To prevent depression in clinical nurses, we need to intervene job stress for insufficient job control, interpersonal conflict, job insecurity and lack of reward.

치과위생사의 직무스트레스와 직무만족도의 관련성 (Relationship between job stress and job satisfaction of dental hygienists)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify Relationship between job stress and job satisfaction of dental hygienists Methods: The subjects of this study were to 173 dental hygienists who work in dental diseases and clinics in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, and through the Internet link using web questionnaire from August 1 to October 30, 2023. Distributed and collected. The collected data were analyzed using an IBM SPSS ver. 26. Results: As for general characteristics, job stress was high in the 40s age group, work experience was high in the 1-4 year group, and job satisfaction was high in the 4-7 year or more group. As factors affecting job satisfaction, it was found that the lower the Self- determination of duties , the lower the Job insecurity, and the lower the Inadequate compensation, the higher the job satisfaction. Conclusions: From the above results, in order to increase the job satisfaction of dental hygienists, it is necessary to ensure stable employment and at the same time allow them to focus on tasks specific to dental hygiene, as job satisfaction decreases if a lot of chores unrelated to dental hygiene work are performed, and Self- determination of duties and an appropriate compensation system must be established. If an excessive workload is given or there is frequent overtime work, compensation should be made commensurate with experience or ability, and in the case of frequent overtime work, appropriate compensation should be provided through allowances or incentives.

치과위생사의 방사선 안전 관리 실태 및 피폭 불안감 인식 (A Study on Radiation Management Status and Exposure Anxiety Awareness of Dental Hygienist)

  • 본 연구는 치과위생사의 방사선안전 관리 실태 및 방사선 위해 불안감에 대하여 조사하고 영향을 미치는 요인들을 분석하여 방사선 안전 관리 수준을 향상하고 나아가 방사선 취급에 대한 올바른 인식 전환과 불안감을 줄이는데 기여하고자 실시하였다. 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 2014년 9월 1일부터 10월 31일까지 전라북도 일부 지역 치과의원에 근무하는 치과위생사를 대상으로 수집된 자료를 분석하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 방사선안전 관리에 대한 교육은 교육받지 않았다는 응답자(63.0%)가 교육받은 응답자(37.0%)보다 높게 나타났고 방사선안전 관리 지식도는 총 5점 중 평균점수는 $3.74{\pm}0.83$으로 평균보다 높았으며, 방사선안전 관리 행위 실천은 평균점수가 $2.58{\pm}1.11$로 평균보다 낮았다. 방사선 위해 불안감은 평균점수는 $3.88{\pm}0.92$로 높았으며, 임신 중일 때 태아의 건강 문제가 염려된다는 $4.43{\pm}0.71$로 가장 높게 나타났다. 방사선안전 관리 지식에 영향을 미치는 것은 '하루 방사선 총 촬영 횟수'에서 유의한 차이가 있었고(p<0.05), 방사선안전 관리행위 실천에 영향을 미치는 것은 '연령대', '최종학력', '한 달 소득', '근속연수', '업무영역', '현재 직위', '현재 방사선 촬영 여부'에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<0.05). 또한, 방사선안전 관리 지식은 방사선안전 관리행위 실천과 음의 상관관계(r=-0.232), 방사선 위해 불안감과는 양의 상관관계를 보였다(r=0.262). 대상자의 방사선 위해 불안감 영향은 방사선안전 관리 지식이 높을수록(${\beta}=0.252$, p<0.001), 방사선 촬영 업무 기간이 짧을수록(${\beta}=-0.341$, p<0.05) 유의하게 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과로 치과위생사는 방사선 안전 관리에 관한 지식은 있으나 행위 실천이 부진한 실태와 방사선 위해에 대한 높은 불안감을 개선하기 위한 대책이 필요할 것으로 생각된다. 또한, 향후 환자와 진료 종사자의 방사선 피폭에 대한 정신적, 신체적 위해를 예방하여 방사선에 대한 안전 관리 수준을 향상하게 시켜 진료환경을 개선하고 나아가 방사선 취급에 대한 올바른 인식 전환을 위한 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다.

충남지역 보건소 방문간호사의 직무만족도와 직무 스트레스 (A Study on Occupational Satisfaction and Stress of Visiting Nurses at District Health Centers in Chungnam Province)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify visiting nurses' occupational satisfaction and their stress who are working at district health centers in Chungnam province. Methods: The subjects of the study were 109 visiting nurses of 16 district health centers in Chungnam province. The data were collected by self report questionnaires from March 1 to 31, 2010. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, t-test, ANOVA (Sheffe's test), and correlation coefficient using the SPSS program. Results: The results of this study were as follows. The occupational stress level of the subjects was 46.7 and the level of subjects' occupational satisfaction was 2.46. There was a significant negative correlation between occupational satisfaction and occupational stress (r=-.627). Conclusion: The occupational stress level of the subjects, and stress levels of 'work environment', 'job insecurity' and 'organizational structure' were higher than those of the Korean women workers' standard. The level of subjects' occupational satisfaction was lower than that of the nurse practitioners. There was a significant correlation among occupational stress and 'burden of workload' and 'visiting nurse career'. The study showed that occupational stress was correlated with occupational satisfaction. The results suggest that further follow-up study on visiting nurse is necessary to relieve their occupational stress and increase occupational satisfaction.

노인요양보호사의 직무스트레스가 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향 (Impacts of Occupational Stress on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment among Certified Geriatric Caregivers)

  • Objectives: An increase in the number of caregivers is necessary to provide services to the elderly, but more importantly, it is qualitative management for them. The purpose of this study was to identify occupational stress, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment and to explore the impact of occupational stress on job satisfaction and organizational commitment among caregivers employed in health service centers for the elderly. Methods: This descriptive survey was a cross-sectional correlational design of 118 caregivers. The questionnaire included occupational stress, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. Stepwise multiple regression was applied. Results: Job satisfaction and organization commitment of caregivers were found to be above the average. There was a high level of job stress due to lack of job autonomy, job demands, and inadequate compensation. It has been found that the inappropriate compensation, organization system, work culture, and lack of job autonomy affected job satisfaction of caregivers. The factors affecting organizational commitment were inadequate compensation, job insecurity, and work culture. Conclusions: Efforts should be made to assess and complement the appropriateness of compensation and work culture that are taken to relieve job stress to enhance the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of caregivers.

공공 및 민간 부문 종사 근로자의 우울증상에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing Depressive Symptoms in Public and Private Sector Employees)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify factors influencing depressive symptoms in public and private sector employees. Methods: Survey data on 23,602 workers who had worked in the public or private sector were obtained from the 2014 Korean Working Condition Survey (KWCS). Symptoms of depression were measured using the WHO-5 Well-being Index. Data were analyzed using a $x^2$ test, t-test, and multivariate stepwise logistic regression to determine the factors affecting the symptoms of depression. Results: First, the prevalence of depressive symptoms was 41.1 % in public sector employees and 43.4 % in private sector employees. Second, the factors commonly affecting depressive symptoms in public and private sector employees were residence area, cognitive demands, development opportunities, social support from colleagues, social support from supervisors, social community at work, job rewards, and work-family conflict. In addition, age, company size, atypical work, ergonomic risks, quantitative demands, emotional demands, influence, and job insecurity were found to be predictors of depressive symptoms unique to private sector employees. Conclusion: Mental health programs including the employee assistance program (EAP) should be developed and implemented after considering the risk factors affecting depressive symptoms.

Relationship of occupational stress and psychosocial stress to health promotion behavior in female office workers and emotional labor workers for sales

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship of occupational stress and psychosocial stress to health promotion behaviors depending on characteristics of female office workers and emotional labor workers for sales. Methods: A survey of 207 female service workers engaging in sales of cosmetics in major department stores and 149 females working in the offices of cosmetics companies was carried out using a self-administered questionnaire. Results: It showed a significant difference in job demand and insufficient job control which are sub-domains of stress. The percentage of emotional laborers exposed to a high risk of psychosocial stress was higher than office workers. In office workers, occupational stress stemmed from insufficient job control and low reward of work was significantly related to psychosocial stress. But in emotional labor workers, stress from job insecurity, and organizational system were added. The relevant factors that affect health promotion behaviors were type of occupational stress, psychosocial stress, marital status, educational level and working career. Conclusions: Occupational stress and psychosocial stress were closely associated with health promotion behaviors. It was suggested that the development of health promotion programs which reduce the stress in female office and emotional labor workers.

Food Security in Households of People Living With Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome: A Cross-sectional Study in a Subdivision of Darjeeling District, West Bengal

  • Objectives: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) adversely impacts food security in households of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Little research has focused on food insecurity among PLWHA in India. The purpose of this study was to identify the prevalence of and factors relating to food security in households of PLWHA in the Siliguri subdivision of Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. Methods: A cross-sectional community-based study was carried out among 173 PLWHA residing in Siliguri and registered at the Anti-retroviral Therapy Centre of North Bengal Medical College & Hospital. Data was collected at the household level with interviews of PLWHA using a food security survey instrument. We analyzed the associations using logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of household food security among the participants was 50.9% (88/173). Five years or more of schooling, higher socioeconomic class and males were found to be significantly associated with a higher likelihood of food security. A later stage of the disease and the presence of other family members with HIV/AIDS were significantly associated with a lower likelihood of food security. The major coping strategies to deal with food insecurity in the acute phase HIV infection included borrowing money (56.1%), followed by spousal support, loans from microfinance institutions, banks, or money lenders, borrowing food, or selling agricultural products. Conclusions: The present study revealed that only about half of households with PLWHA were food secure. Prior interventions relating to periods of food and economic crisis as well as strategies for sustaining food security and economic status are needed in this area.

베이비붐세대 남성의 근무환경이 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Working environment on Psychological Well-being in Male Baby boomers)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure psychological well-being and to examine the associated factors in male baby boomers using Korean Working Conditions Survey Data 2011. Methods: This study was based on the 3rd Korean Working Conditions Survey Data 2011, which was conducted from June to November 2011 by the Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute. The total number of subjects was 3,340 male employees, who were born from 1955 to 1963 and responded to the question regarding occupational stress. Chi-square and multiple logistic regression were used for data analysis using the SAS ver 9.3 program. Results: Approximately 54.5% of the male babyboomer employees did not have psychological well-being. Factors associated with psychological well-being were weekend-shift and occupational stress including job insecurity, organizational system, and lack of reward. Night-shift and long working hours influenced psychological well-being, but the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: This study is a meaningful attempt to measure psychological well-being and perform an analysis of associated factors in male baby boomer employees using nationwide survey data. We suggest a complex institutional supplement in terms of national and employers to increase the psychological well-being of baby boomers.

  • Objectives : During the past two decades, food deprivation and hunger have been recognized to be not just the concerns of only underdeveloped or developing countries, but as problems for many affluent Western nations as well Many countries have made numerous efforts to define and measure the extent of these problems. Based on these efforts, the theory and practice of food security studies has significantly evolved during the last decades. Thus, this study aims to provide a comprehensive review of the concept and measurement of food security Methods and results : In this review, we introduce the definition and background of food security, we describe the impact of food insecurity on nutrition and health, we provide its measurements and operational instruments and we discuss its applications and implications. Some practical information for the use of the food security index in South Korea is also presented. Conclusions : Food security is an essential element in achieving a good nutritional and health status and it has an influence to reduce poverty The information about the current understanding of food security can help scientists, policy makers and program practitioners conduct research and maintain outreach programs that address the issues of poverty and the promotion of food security.
