  • Cropping of head and tail ends of rod in wire Rolling Process is required to aviod roll damage, and prevent cobbles. In order to reduce the crop loss, the new crop control system for rotary shear of Wire rolling Process has been developed. Performance shows the developed system cut precisely within setting length. As a result, it is expected to increase the yield ratio of products about 0.2 percent and stabilize the operantional condition.

소형선박의 횡요방지 제어장치 연구 (A Study on the Anti-Rolling Control System of Small Ship)

  • The roll damping characteristics of the three models of a small fishing(3 ton class fishing vessel), such as the bare hull, hull with bilge keels, and hull with bilge keels and a central wing are investigated by the free roll and head waves tests in calm water in a towing tank with the various forward speeds, initial angles and OG's. The experimental results are compared with the numerical results of mathematical modelings by the energy method for these three models and the energy dissipation patterns are also compared. And the wave length variations are also included. The roll damping moment of the models is increased for zero speed cases, but as the speed increases, the effect of the waves on the roll damping of the models with the additional devices is negligible due to the much increased damping caused by the lift increase.

  • 고체로켓에서 발생하는 vortex shedding 현상 중 인히비터로 인해 발생하는 연소실내 와류(vortex)의 특성을 조사하기 위해 Large Eddy Simulation을 수행하였다. 해석의 결과는 기존 연구자들의 결과와 잘 일치하며 정략적 및 정성적 분석을 수행하였다. 인히비터 후방에서 발생하는 vortex는 Flow-acoustic coupling 에 의해 주기적으로 반복되며 생성, 소멸이 이루어지는 것을 확인 할 수 있었으며, 발생 주기는 연소실내 mode 2의 주파수와 일치하는 것을 확인하였다. 3차원 해석결과 인히비터 후방에서 Roll 발생은 비균일한 노즐 유동을 발생시킨다.

두경부환자의 토모테라피 치료시 SETUP 변화율에 대한 후향적 평가 (After retrospective evaluation of the SETUP rate change during the treatment of head and neck cancer patient with Helical Tomotherapy)

  • 목 적 : 두경부 환자 토모 치료 시 위치 보정한 좌표값을 이용한 환자의 Setup 변화율을 후향적 평가를 하고자 한다. 재료 및 방법 : 2010년 01월에서 2012년12월까지 토모테라피 치료를 받은 두경부 환자 중 무작위(95)로 샘플링하여 3그룹으로 정리하였다. 그룹 1(32)Brain, 그룹2(28)Maxillar, Nasal cavity, 그룹3(35) Nosopharynx(NPX), Tongue, Tonsil, Oropharynx(OPX)로 분류하였다. 3그룹 간에 있어 X 축, Y 축, Z 축 오차, Roll, 체중변화, Vector를 변수로 하여, 30회 치료기간 중 반복측정에 의한 통계적 검정을 시행하였다. 결 과 : 통계적 검정 결과 fraction에 따른 차이는 x축(p=0.458), y축(0.989)은 차이가 없었으며 z축(p=0.001), roll(p=0.037), 체중변화(p<0.001), Vector(p<0.001)은 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 fraction에 따라 3그룹간의 패턴은 x축(p=0.430), roll(p=0.299)은 차이가 없었으며 y축(0.023), y축(0.023), 체중변화(p=0.001), Vector(p=0.028)은 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결 론 : 후향적 평가를 시행한 결과 그룹3즉, Y, Z, 체중변화, Vector 변화에 대하여 알 수 있었고 Low neck을 포함한 치료 시 Random error가 커짐을 통계적 알 수 있었다.

EMDIOS를 이용한 Optical Flying Head의 형상 최적설계 (Optimum Design of Optical Flying Head Using EMDIOS)

  • This study proposes a design methodology to determine the optimum configurations of the optical flying head (OFH) for near-field recording systems. Since the OFH requires stricter static and dynamic characteristics of slider air-bearings within an optical tilt tolerance over the entire recording band, an optimum design to keep the focusing and tracking ability stable is essential. The desired flying characteristics considered in this study are to minimize the variation in flying height between the SIL and the disk from a target value, satisfying the restriction of the minimum flying height, to keep the pitch and roll angles within an optical tilt tolerance, and to ensure a higher air-bearing stiffness. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design methodology by showing that the static and dynamic flying characteristics of the optimally designed OFH are enhanced in comparison with those of the initial. The gap between the SIL and the disk can be kept at less than 100 nm even if the optical tilt tolerance of the SIL is considered.

선미식(船尾式) 트롤선(船)의 해양항행중(海洋航行中) 파고(波高)와 선속(船速)에 따른 선체(船体) 동요특성(動搖特性) (The Characteristics of Motion Response of Stern Trawlers according to the Wave Height and the Ship's Speed in the Sea)

  • It is very important to investigate the hull response of a fishing vessel in the sea to ensure the safe navigation and fishing operation in rough sea by preserving excellent sea keeping qualities. For this purpose, the author measured various responses of three stem trawlers in waves using real sea experimental measuring system. The author analyzed the experimental data using the statistical and spectral analyzing method to get the characteristics of the motion responses of the vessels according to the wave height and the ship's speed. The results obtained can be summarized as follows ; (1) Rather higher response of the pitch motion due to the wave height appeared in the head sea and the bow sea than any other wave direction without relevance to ship's size. In case of the roll motion, the beam sea and the quartering sea have a high response value. The period of peak of the pitch motion and the roll motion according to the wave height in each vessel has almost same value respectively. (2) The change of response of the pitch motions deeply depend on the ship's speed in the head sea and the bow sea, but not in the other wave direction. (3) The change of response of the roll motions in the beam sea, the quartering sea and the following sea are affected by the influence of the ship's speed in 5k't to 8k't, but not related to the ship's speed in out of that range.

소형어선의 크기에 따른 규칙파 중 운동응답 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Motion Response of Small Fishing Vessels According to Various Tonnage in Regular Waves)

  • 본 연구는 최근 해양사고가 점차 증가하고 있는 10톤 미만 소형어선의 규칙파 중 운동응답 특성에 대하여 수치해석을 통하여 분석하였다. 10톤 미만의 소형선박들을 크기별로 구분하여 해양사고 분석에 이용되고 있기 때문에 본 연구에서도 서로 다른 크기의 소형어선 3척을 대상으로 운동응답 해석을 이행하였다. 선수파인 경우 장파장 영역에서 속력이 높아질수록 상하동요 및 종동요 응답도 커지고 있는 현상을 확인하였다. 가장 작은 3톤급 어선의 운동응답이 다른 크기의 어선보다 더 크게 나타나는 특성을 보여주었다. 선수사파 상태에서의 횡동요 운동은, 선박의 크기와 관계없이 점차 속력이 높아질수록 운동응답의 최대값이 장파장 영역으로 이동되는 특성을 확인할 수 있었다. 선수사파와 횡파에서 3척의 소형어선 모두 속력이 가장 높은 15노트에서 횡동요 운동이 가장 크게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 선수파 및 선수사파를 받으면서 항행할 경우 속력을 낮추는 것이 종운동과 횡운동 영향을 감소시킬수 있는 방법이라고 보여진다. 횡파에 의한 횡동요는 속력 및 선박의 크기와 관계없이 특정 파장에서만 급격히 커지는 경향을 보여 주었다. 전진속력이 있을 경우 선수 사파에 비해서 선미사파에서의 확연한 횡동요 감소 현상을 확인할 수 있었다. 선박의 크기 및 속력에 따라 선체운동응답의 최대값이 나타나는 특정 영역이 있으므로 이 운동 영향을 최소화 시킬 수 있는 운항방법이 고려되어 실행되어야 한다.

Head Slider Designs Using Approximation Methods

  • This paper presents an approach to optimally design the air bearing surface (ABS) of the head slider by using the approximation methods. The reduced basis concept is used to reduce the number of design variables. In the numerical calculation, the progressive quadratic response surface modeling (PQRSM) is used to handle the non-smooth and discontinuous cost function. A multi-criteria optimization problem is formulated to enhance the flying performances over the entire recording band during the steady state and track seek operations. The optimal solutions of the sliders, whose target flying heights are 12 nm and 9 nm, are automatically obtained. The flying heights during the steady state operation become closer to the target values and the flying height variations during the track seek operation are smaller than those for the initial one. The pitch and roll angles are also kept within suitable ranges over the recording band.

Novel Backprojection Method for Monocular Head Pose Estimation

  • Estimating a driver's head pose is an important task in driver-assistance systems because it can provide information about where a driver is looking, thereby giving useful cues about the status of the driver (i.e., paying proper attention, fatigued, etc.). This study proposes a system for estimating the head pose using monocular images, which includes a novel use of backprojection. The system can use a single image to estimate a driver's head pose at a particular time stamp, or an image sequence to support the analysis of a driver's status. Using our proposed system, we compared two previous pose estimation approaches. We introduced an approach for providing ground-truth reference data using a mannequin model. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system provides relatively accurate estimations of the yaw, tilt, and roll angle. The results also show that one of the pose estimation approaches (perspective-n-point, PnP) provided a consistently better estimate compared to the other (pose from orthography and scaling with iterations, POSIT) using our proposed system.

미세 스트라이프 코팅에 미치는 슬롯 다이 헤드 마이크로 팁 길이의 영향 (Effect of the Microtip Length in a Slot-die Head on Fine Stripe Coatings)

  • The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of the microtip length in a slot-die head on coating of a fine poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) stripe. To this end, we have employed a meniscus guide with a 150-㎛-wide microtip and performed roll-to-roll slot-die coatings by varying its length between 500 ㎛ and 50 ㎛. When the microtip length is 150 ㎛ or shorter, we have observed three unexpected phenomena; 1) though the solution spreads much wider than the microtip width, yet the coated stripe width is almost the same as the microtip width, 2) the stripe width decreases, but the stripe thickness is rather increased with increasing coating speed at a fixed flow rate, 3) we obtain stripes much narrower than the microtip width at high coating speeds. It is due to the fact that 1) the meniscus is not well controlled by a short microtip, 2) the main stream of solution from the outlet is very close to the substrate and thus the distributed solution along the head lip merges with the main stream, and 3) the solution is not spread over the entire microtip end at high coating speeds, causing a tiny wobble in the meniscus. Using the 150-㎛-wide and 250-㎛-long microtip, we have fabricated 153-㎛-wide and 94-nm-thick PEDOT:PSS stripe at the maximum coating speed of 13 mm/s. To demonstrate its applicability in solution-processable organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), we have also fabricated an OLED device with the fine PEDOT:PSS stripe and obtained strong light emission from it.
