This research is a case study that focuses on how conglomerate illegality and corresponding penalty affects corporate performance and strategy. The research aims to provide base information for policy-makers as well as the general public about the corporate environment. The analysis results can be summarized as follows. First, profitability is represented as an M-curve. Profitability falls from indictment to the final pronouncement of the corporate head and increases upon his or her return. The result suggests that the absence of a corporate head could result in low profitability as the firm is exposed to owner risk. Secondly, significant effects on investment were not found. Investment showed a continuous increase from indictment to final judgment. This could have resulted from investment decisions made prior to the indictment, which are generally long-term. Meanwhile, the rate at which investments rose for core subsidiaries were lower, which makes it reasonable to suspect dwindling executive capacity due to the absence of a corporate head. Thirdly, employment showed a slight increase, but the rate was found to be greater during the periods following the final judgment. From a political perspective, this increase can be inferred from a give-and-take tradeoff between corporate employment and the pardon of the corporate head.

Roadheader that excavates ground using pick cutters installed on the cutting head is one of the partial-face machines. A conical cutter among pick cutters is excavation tool decreasing the loss of cutter using tungsten carbide insert at the tip of the cutter and it has been widely used in the roadheaders. In this study, durability performance for three kinds of conical cutters was evaluated in copper mines composed of Manto and conglomerate. After field test, the visual inspection as well as the weight loss measurement of pick cutters was carried out to investigate the damage of pick cutters. In addition, CT scan and SEM were performed to check whether or not crack and apertures in pick cutters. As results, the conical cutter with hardfacing was evaluated as having the best durability performance and it was unable to find cracks in all cutters investigated.

The grout based on solution type makes it difficult to get the improvement of ground strength and the effefct of water curtain because it has lower strength and durability than suspension type. Nowadays, the technology of particle acceleration, that enhance the material permeability, such as grout based on solution type, and inexpensive grout, is being required. For these reasons, in this study, using wet milling system, we evaluated physical properties of manufactured factors such as water-cement ratio of particles before being milled, optimum milling capacity by controlling milling time and rpm, viscosity of materials, permeation coefficient, and unconfined compressive strength. Also, using micro wet milling apparatus which could manufacture ordinary Portland cement and high speed shear mix which could forcefully separate conglomerate particles in situ, we performed electrical resistivity investigation and falling head permeability tests to analyze differences of grouting effects. From these results, we found that the permeability of the applied equipment was much superior, and in the case of using high speed shear mixer, particles of grout material were well separated.

Since the financial crisis in 1997, the Korean economy has a steady increase of people who tend to establish their own business by 2008. Business foundations can be divided into independent businesses and franchise businesses. This study focuses on what type of business owners among franchise enterprisers can achieve success. This is intended to reduce trial and error by drawing upon success factors in the stages of establishment, operation, and achievement based on a total sample of 350 individual business sites. The result shows that the success factors in the stage of establishment include (1) Preparation such as foundation education (2) Marketing capability (3) Appropriateness of Business Item (4) Other founder's entry barrier, conglomerate's entry regulation and (5) Head Office Support including service education, market survey education, marketing support. On the other hand, the success factors in the stage of operation include the supervisor capability, Marketing capability, Head Office Support, Customer Management Capability and Employee Satisfaction. Additionally after choosing the major factors according to each stage, multiple regression analysis was processed and interpreted. Finally, we believe that the franchise or independent business foundations can make a profit as well as increase continuous sales and customer satisfaction only with thorough and careful preparation in all stages of foundation and operation. This study is expected to contribute to those who prepare new business in franchise domain to minimize failures with deep consideration of the success factors in the franchise.
