A Study on the Mechanism of Photoluminescence in Poly(3-hexylthiophene) (Poly(3-hexylthiophene)의 PL 발광 메카니즘에 관한 연구)

  • We studied the optical properties of poly(3-hexylthiophene) for applying to the emitting material of organic electro luminescent device. The infrared spectrum and NMR of synthesized polymer gave good evidence for the conjugation of 3-hexylthiophene monomer unit. We confirmed that poly(3-hexylthiophene) contains the HT(head-to-tail)-HT(head-to-Tail) linkage larger than 65% based on NMR analysis. FTIR and raman spectroscopy show that poly(3-hexylthiophene) has two main vibration levels which have an energy about 0.18eV and 0.36eV. Electronic absorption spectra shifted to the shorter wavelength with increasing temperature, which is related to a conformational transition of the polymer. Photoluminescence spectrum generated at low temperature(10K) is separated at 669nm, 733nm and 812nm that it's because of phonon energy generated from the lattice vibration.

  • Servo performance of a disk drive is greatly affected by the mechanical resonance frequencies of the head gimbal assembly(HGA). It is important (actor to allow broader bandwidth for servo system in improving overall drive performance. In this paper, an optimal design for ODD suspension is attempted to increase resonance frequencies. It was decided that the first resonant frequency in tracking direction was higher than 5㎑.   • This study is to suggest a probabilistic design determining configurations of slider air bearings with the dimensional manufacturing tolerances of the ABS. The probabilistic design problem is formulated to minimize the variation in flying height from a target value while satisfying the desired probabilities keeping the pitch and roll angles within suitable range. The proposed approach first solves the deterministic optimization problem. Then, beginning with this solution, the RBDO is continued with the probabilistic constraints affected by the random variables with a fixed standard deviation in normal distribution. The RBDO results are directly compared with the values of the initial design and the results of the deterministic optimization, respectively. The reliability analyses are performed by the descriptive sampling (DS) to show the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed approach. It is demonstrated that the proposed RBDO approach can efficiently obtain an optimum solution satisfying all the desired probabilistic constraints.

  • In this study, the experimental modal analysis is performed to investigate the dynamic characteristics of slider-air bearings in hard disk drives. Bump response of the slider is acquired by measuring the relative velocity for two points using the laser interferometer, in which the disk is scratched lightly by a sharp knife to make a bump. From the measurements, the modal parameters of the head slider, modal frequencies and damping ratios of roll and pitch, are estimated by data processing and parameter estimation.

  • It's general a trend to use the load/unload mechanism in the small form factor HDD, like 2.5", 1.8" and 1.0". The load/unload mechanism has tittle opportunity of head/media contact during the disk spin-up and down. However, the load/unload mechanism needs the precise integration technology with slider, suspension ramp, load/unload velocity and so on, and all of these components should be designed simultaneously, not an individually. In this paper, we measured the load/unload velocity in the drive level, and executed the load/unload dynamics with this velocity profiles. We could find the current load/unload mechanism suitable to the long load/unload test.

  • This paper presents an active control of the aperture type near-field storage head. In order to achieve a fast and accurate control, a dual servo control algorithm is applied. Based on the big difference in time constants of two actuators, they are used independently. With the combination fine and coarse actuator, the disk is rotated up to 10 rpm speed until the gap is controlled within 100 nm. From the experimental results, the feasibility and the performance of active dual servo gap control is proved.

  • To solve a problem of micro drive due to small size and portability, it is necessary to understand and to investigate micro drive widely ,deeply. So, we performed modal analysis of suspension of micro drive, and load/unload experiment for Input current to VCM coil and disk speed. To determine the effect of ramp profile, curve fitting of lateral speed is performed with equation of speed. The results indicate that small load/unload speeds decrease the number of head/disk contacts, and during unloading process, low disk speed increase the number of head/disk contacts.

  • We propose a sound source localization method using the Head-Related-Transfer-Function (HRTF) to be implemented in a given platform. HRTFs contain not only the information regarding proper time delays but also phase and magnitude distortions due to diffraction and scattering by the shading object. Therefore, a set of HRTFs for any given platform provides a substantial amount of information as to the whereabouts of the source. In this study, we introduce new phase criterion in order to find the sound source location in accordance with the HRTF database empirically obtained in an anechoic chamber with the given platform. Using this criterion, we analyze the estimation performance of the proposed method in a household environment.
