가상환경(VR) 운영체제 프로토타입 연구 (Study on Virtual Reality (VR) Operating System Prototype)

  • 본 논문에서는 게임 엔진(Unity3D) 상에서 헤드 마운트 디스플레이(HMD)와 손 동작 인식 기술을 이용한 가상 환경 운영 체제(VROS) 프로토타입을 제안한다. 제안하는 OS는 Unity3D에서 제공하는 실시간 환경 상에 간단한 멀티태스킹 스레드 메커니즘을 구축한 형태로 제작되었다. 제안하는 가상 환경 운영 체제는 손 동작 인식 장치(Leap Motion)로부터 입력을 받아서 키보드와 마우스 역할을 수행하며 헤드 마운트 디스플레이((Oculus Rift DK2)를 통해 출력을 제공한다. 테스트 결과, 제안하는 시스템은 360도 가상 공간 내에서 보다 넓고 몰입도가 높은 작업 환경을 제공하였다.

  • We have investigated anamorphic prism lenses with distortions of 0.3-0.5%. We designed the plastic triangular lens and confirmed the minimum resolution using MTF graphs. Also we confirmed that the SVGA optical system can realize a resolution of $864{\times}648$ 56 megapixels. A distortion of about 0.5% aberration appears in the maximum field, and a finite beam aberration of about $15{\mu}m$ is confirmed. We made a mold based on the design data and completed the prism lens through exodus molding. We confirmed the shape error (< $30{\mu}m$) and surface roughness (> 40 nm) of the three sides. We made the video-information-display prototype glasses using prism lens by measuring the performance, we determined the distortion aberration (0.3%) and SVGA resolution. Our approach will enable fabrication of a portable large-screen display device for glasses and sunglasses for the domestic market and, after 2015, for the world market.

  • A new monitoring system is proposed to give direct visual information of the remote site when working with a tele-operation system. In order to have a similar behavior of a human when he is inspecting an object, multiple cameras that have different view point are attached around the robot hand and are switched on and elf according to the operator´s motion such as joystick manipulation or operator´s head movement.   • The aspherical lenses are used as optical lens of HMD optical system. The optimum cutting condition of PMMA lens sample with ultra precision SPDT, the diamond tool nose radius, the cutting speed, the feed rate, the depth of cut, and cutting fluid type are found. The demanded surface roughness 10 nm Ra, aspherical form error $1.0\;\mu{m}$ P-V for aspherical lens of optical data storage device are satisfied.

  • This paper presents a development of interface device for electro-oculogram(EOG) signal and it's application to the wireless mouse of wearable PC. The interface device is composed of five bio-electrodes for detecting oculomotor motion, several band-pass filters, instrumentation amplifier and a microprocessor. we have first analyzed impedance characteristics between skin and a bio-electrode. since the impedance highly depends on human face, it's magnitude differs from person. this interface device was applied to develop a wireless mouse for wearable PC, as a Bio Machine Interface(BMI). Where in the prompt on PC monitor is controlled by only EOG signals. this system was implemented in a Head Mount Display(HMD) unit. experimental results show the accuracy of above 90%.

  • 최근 많은 종류의 HMD(Head mount display) 출시로 전시장 등 다양한 장소에서 가상현실을 체험할 수 있고, 포켓몬고와 같은 게임을 스마트폰을 통해 사용할 수 있게 됨에 따라 가상현실과 증강현실이 사용자들에게 일반화된 개념이 되어가고 있다. 이와 함께 마이크로소프트 홀로렌즈의 개발자 버전 출시를 통해 현실을 기반으로 가상현실과 같은 몰입감의 혼합현실을 제공하는 기술이 단순 컨셉트가 아니라 현실의 서비스로 실현되어 가고 있다. 본고에서는 가상현실, 증강현실의 일부 또는 독립적인 개념으로 분류되는 혼합현실, 특히 HMD 기반의 혼합현실 개념과 동향을 살펴보고, 한국전자통신연구원에서 개발된 HMD 기반 혼합현실 기술을 소개하고자 한다.

  • Medications or cognitive-behavior methods have been mainly used as a treatment of alcoholism. lately the virtualy technology has been applied to the kink of alcoholic disorders. A virtual environment makes him having ability to over come the drink. In this study, we were implemented by making panorama images and 3D object modules using 3D Studio MAX. VRML, JAVA Applet. And the BAR stimulator that composed with a position sensor head mount display, and audio system, is suggested. To illustrate the physiological difference between a person who has a alcoholism and and without a liquor bottle, heart rate was measured during experiment, and also measured a Person's HR after the virtual reality training. we demonstrated the subjective effectiveness of virtual reality psychotherapy through the clinical experiment.

  • In these days, various technologies to provide a service of high quality of 360 VR media contents is being studied and developed. However, rendering high-quality of media images is very difficult with the limited resources of HMD (Head Mount Display). In this paper, we designed and implemented a 360 VR Player for high quality 360 tiled video image render to HMD. Furthermore, we developed multi-resolution-based Foveated Rendering technology. By conducting several experiments, We have confirmed that it improved the performance of video rendering far more than existing tiled video rendering technology.

  • Acrophobia is an abnormal fear of heights. Medications or cognitive-behavior methods have been mainly used as a treatment. Lately the virtual reality technology has been applied to that kind of anxiety disorders. A virtual environment provides patient with stimuli which arouses phobia, and exposing to that environment makes him having ability to over come the fear. Recently, the patient can take diagnose from a medical doctor in distance with the telemedicine system. The hospital and doctors can get the medical data, audio, video, signals in the actual examination room or operating room via a live interactive system. Audio visual and multimedia conference service, online questionary, ECG signal transfer system, update system are needed in this system. Virtual reality simulation system that composed with a position sensor, head mount display, and audio system, is also included in this telemedicine system. In this study, we tried this system to the acrophobia patient in distance.

  • Virtual Reality(VR) is a new technology which makes humans communicate with computer. It allows the user to see, hear, feel and interact in a three-dimensional virtual world created graphically. In this paper, we introduced VR into psychotherapy area and developed VR system for the exposure therapy of acrophobia. Acrophobia is an abnormal fear of heights. Medications or cognitive-behavior methods have been mainly used as a treatment. Lately the virtual reality technology has been applied to that kind of anxiety disorders. A virtual environment provides patient with stimuli which arouses phobia, and exposing to that environment makes him having ability to over come the fear. In this study, the elevator stimulator that composed with a position sensor, head mount display, and audio system, is suggested. To illustrate the physiological difference between a person who has a feel of phobia and without phobia, heart rate was measured during experiment. And also measured a person's HR after the virtual reality training. In this study, we demonstrated the subjective effectiveness of virtual reality psychotherapy through the clinical experiment.
