The Effects of Chinese Consumers' Self-Construal and Advertising Type on Brand Attitude

  • Purpose - This study focused on the attitude differences towards harmony-focused Ad and uniqueness-focused Ad, also those towards brand advertised in each of the two type Ads between self-construals. Research design, data, and methodology - Main survey was conducted online with the people in China, and collected 107 data through harmony Ad questionnaire and 109 data through uniqueness Ad questionnaire. Anova and t-test were used to verify hypotheses. Results - First, More positive attitude towards harmony-focused Ad and the brand in it there was at interdependent Chinese consumers than at independent Chinese consumers. Second, the independent Chinese consumers and the interdependent Chinese consumers did not form significant attitude difference towards uniqueness-focused Ad. However the independent Chinese consumers showed more positive attitude towards the brand in the uniqueness-focused Ad than the interdependent Chinese consumers. Conclusions - By highlighting the attributes of Chinese consumers' self-construal, to appeal to interdependent Chinese consumers, marketers should develop harmony-focused advertisement, and they should appeal to independent Chinese consumers by using uniqueness-focused advertisement. However the harmony might be pursued as the main content in the overall environment by Chinese people. Therefore it is necessary for the marketers to consider the harmony even when appealing them by emphasizing the uniqueness.

Hybrid of the fuzzy logic controller with the harmony search algorithm to PWR in-core fuel management optimization

  • One of the important parts of the in-core fuel management is loading pattern optimization (LPO). The loading pattern optimization as a reasonable design of the in-core fuel management can improve both economic and safe aspects of the nuclear reactor. This work proposes the hybrid of fuzzy logic controller with harmony search algorithm (HS) for loading pattern optimization in a pressurized water reactor. The music improvisation process to find a pleasing harmony is inspiring the harmony search algorithm. In this work, the adjustment of the harmony search algorithm parameters such as the bandwidth and the pitch adjustment rate are increasing performance of the proposed algorithm which is done through a fuzzy logic controller. Hence, membership functions and fuzzy rules are designed to improve the performance of the HS algorithm and achieve optimal results. The objective of the method is finding an optimum core arrangement according to safety and economic aspects such as reduction of power peaking factor (PPF) and increase of effective multiplication factor (Keff). The proposed approach effectiveness has been tried in two cases, Michalewicz's bivariate function problem and NEACRP LWR core. The results show that by using fuzzy harmony search algorithm the value of the fitness function is improved by 15.35%. Finally, with regard to the new solutions proposed in this research it could be used as a trustworthy method for other optimization issues of engineering field.

감성인식을 위한 이텐의 색채 조화 식별 (A Study on Speechreading about the Korean 8 Vowels)

  • 비디오에서 색채가 즐거움을 주는 조화를 이루는지 알 방법이 없었다. 이러한 색채 조화를 식별함으로서 색채의 조화가 질서감, 명료성, 동류성, 대비성, 그리고 친근감 등을 준다. 따라서 색채 조화를 식별하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 색채 조화는 먼셀, 오스발트, 비렌, 문 스펜서, 이텐, 슈브뢸, 그리고 저드 등이 조화론을 내세워 색채가 조화를 이루는지 판별했다. 이러한 방법들 중 하나인 이텐의 색상환을 이용하여 2색, 3색, 4색, 5색, 그리고 6색의 색채 조화를 식별해보도록 한다. 식별에는 에지 추출, 레이블링 및 클러스터링, 그리고 색채 추출 및 조화 등이 이용된다. 이렇게 색채 조화를 식별함으로써 감성 데이터베이스 구축 및 감성 인식을 위한 기반을 마련한다.

  • 본 연구에서는 기존의 Harmony Search(HS)의 성능을 강화한 Exponential Bandwidth Harmony Search with Centralized Global Search(EBHS-CGS)를 개발하였다. EBHS-CGS는 HS의 성능 강화를 위해 총 두 가지 방법을 추가하였다. 첫 번째 방법은 지역탐색을 강화하기 위한 Bandwidth(bw) 개량방안이다. 이 방법은 기존 bw를 지수형태의 bw로 대체하여 적용함으로써 반복시산이 진행되면서 bw값을 줄인다. 이러한 형태의 bw는 정밀한 지역탐색을 가능하고, 이를 통해 알고리즘은 더욱 정밀한 값을 구할 수 있다. 두 번째 방법은 효과적인 전역탐색을 위한 탐색범위 축소이다. 이 방법은 Harmony Memory(HM) 내에서 가장 좋은 결정변수를 고려하여 탐색범위를 축소한다. 이를 Centralized Global Search(CGS)라 하며, 이 과정은 새로운 매개변수 Centralized Global Search Rate(CGSR)에 의해 HS의 전역탐색과는 별도로 진행된다. 축소된 탐색범위는 효과적인 전역탐색을 가능하게 하며, 이를 통해 알고리즘의 성능이 향상된다. EBHS-CGS를 대표적인 최적화 문제(수학 및 공학 분야)에 적용하고, 그 결과를 HS와 Improved Harmony Search(IHS)와 비교하여 제시하였다.

개선 클러스터링 화음탐색법 개발 및 다양한 최적화문제에 적용 (Development of Improved Clustering Harmony Search and its Application to Various Optimization Problems)

  • 본 연구에서는 최적화 기법의 하나인 화음탐색법 (HS: Harmony Search)에 클러스터링 기법을 적용하여 개선된 형태의 HS를 제안하였다. HS는 음악의 즉흥연주를 모방하여 개발되었으며 무작위선택, 기억회상, 음조조정의 세 가지 연산을 이용하여 최적해를 반복적으로 탐색해 나간다. 기존의 HS의 경우, 세 가지 연산 중 기억회상을 진행할 때 해집단의 저장 공간인 해저장소 (HM: Harmony Memory)에 있는 해를 선택하는데, 이 과정에서 적합도를 정량화한 목적함수 값에 상관없이 모두 동일한 확률로 해의 선택이 이루어지고, 이에 따라 최적의 해를 탐색하는 속도가 상대적으로 낮다. 본 연구에서 제안한 개선 클러스터링 화음탐색법 (ICHS: Improved Clustering Harmony Search)는 HM에서 목적함수의 값을 기준으로 클러스터링 기법을 적용하여 목적함수 값이 유사한 솔루션들이 하나의 해집단을 형성하도록 클러스터링을 수행한다. 이를 통해 만들어진 클러스터 중 상대적으로 목적함수 값이 우수한 클러스터에는 더 높은 선택 확률을 부여하여, 적합도가 높은 클러스터에 포함된 해의 결정변수가 선택될 확률을 높게 하는 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 ICHS의 효율성을 검증하기 위하여 개발 기법을 기존 논문에서 제시된 수학적 최적화 문제에 적용하였고 우수한 해탐색 성능을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 실제 공학 문제에 대한 적용성 평가를 위해 개발 기법을 대규모 상수도관망 관경최적화 문제에 적용하였다. 상수도관망 최적설계에 대한 ICHS의 적용 결과, 기존 최적화 기법에 비해 우수한 해를 안정적으로 도출할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Working Clothes Design and Production in the Mechatronics Machinery Industry with the Application of Faber Birren's Color Harmony Theory

  • This study proposed a color scheme that is harmonious with the working environment of industrial sites using Birren's color harmony theory for color planning. To apply the Birren's color harmony theory to working clothes, the basic colors were chosen, and six of the eight harmony formulas of Birren excluding achromatic colors (white + grey + black) and solid color harmony (solid colors + white + black) were used to form a palette for each case. For the basic colors, the color chips of four dominant colors (yellow-green, sky-blue, blue, and violet), which were chosen from a field survey for preferences in the first step, and the production of materials in the second step were collected through the PANTONE color chips. The selected color chips were PANTONE 13-0550 TPX, PANTONE 15-4105 TPX, PANTONE 18-3949 TPX, and PANTONE 19-3720 TPX. These color chips were scanned and their RGB values were extracted through Photoshop CS. Then the colors were arranged in accordance with the Birren's color harmony formulas (Color+Tint+White, Color+Shade+Black, Tint+Tone+Shade, Shade+Tone+Black, Shade+Tone+White, and Tint+Shade+Tone+Gray). In addition, the proposed palette color schemes were applied through Birren's color harmony formulas using Texpro V 10.1 textile to the schematization of working clothes that were designed in the previous study. Palette formation in line with Birren's color harmony formulas provided scientific color arrangement results. Visually presenting the color scheme of working clothes will help the color selection of working clothes in tune with the circumstances of industrial sites.

Modified harmony search and its application to cost minimization of RC columns

  • This paper presents a variant of the Harmony Search Algorithm (HS) and its application to discrete optimization. The main proposed modifications regarding original HS are related to stopping criterion and reinitialization of population, called Harmony Memory. In order to investigate the efficiency of the algorithm, it was applied for obtaining optimal sections of reinforced concrete columns subjected to uniaxial flexural compression. To minimize the cost of the section, the amount and diameters of the reinforcement bars and the dimensions of the columns cross sections were considered as design variables. The obtained results were compared to those generated by other optimization methods. Since, to the examples, Harmony Search reached the same results achieved by Simulated Annealing, some additional analysis are presented in order to compare these methods regarding success rate and number of iterations to reach the optimum.

셔츠와 넥타이의 컨트라스트 배색에 대한 남녀의 조화감 지각 (Harmony Perception according to Contrast Coloration of Shirt and Necktie by Male and Female)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the harmony evaluation and the effects used clues on harmony perception in terms of 128 contrast coloration of male shirt and necktie by male and female students. The results are as follows. Among 128 contrast coloration stimuli, female students evaluated 42 set, male students 50 set, so proved that male's range of harmony more extensive than that of female. It is significant difference between female and male on shirt-necktie coloration; vivid red shirt-vivid green tie, dull red shirt-dark blue tie, light red shirt-dull blue tie, dark red shirt-light blue tie, light green shirt-vivid violet tie, light green shirt-light red tie, light green shirt-dull red tie. Especially, in contrast coloration, it was evaluated as harmonized coloration by both male and female as tie was dark tone on the whole.

Chousing에서 추구하는 프라이버시와 커뮤니티의 조화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Harmony of Privacy and Community in Cohousing)

  • The purpose of this study is to consider the characteristic of residential life and space in Cohousing and the harmony of privacy and community in it. First consideration is to figure out concepts and case studies of Cohousing. Then, the harmony(of privacy and community) in Cohousing is evaluated within two domains, namely, domestic life and residential space. Consideration of such harmony(of privacy and community) in domestic life focuses on community relations as they manifested, that is, in traditional neighbours roles of caring, and mutual support and in community roles of active participation, common meal and share. Consideration of such harmony within residential spaces is based on the role of Common House, pedestrian traffic and shared outdoor areas. By these means, Cohousing demonstrates new possibilities for a more harmonious residential environment.

  • The topic of this study is to ask and answer about 'What matters most in medicine'. And the purpose of this study is to establish paradigm which guarantee 'the original principles of science in medicine' and 'the safety of human life in medicine'. The organized characteristics of this study is as follows. 1. 'The harmony of nature (heaven, earth and human)' is the base of medicine. Because medicine control life directly and all life is 'the son of nature'. 2. 'The harmony of Eum and Yang' is the essential power of universe and the key of metabolism of all life including human, animals and plants. Because 'the nature of universe' and all 'Life field' is 'electro-magnetic field'. 3. The Convergence of Oriental medicine and Western medicine orients 'the harmony of Eum and Yang'.
