  • Acoustic intensity is usually estimated by the cross-spectrum of acoustic pressure at two adjacent microphones. The cross-spectrum calculated by digital Fourier transform technique will unavoidally have leakage error since the period of signal will not be usually coincident with record length. Therefore, the acoustic intensity estimated by the conventional FFT analyzer will show distorted value. In this paper, the expression of the Fourier transformed date of a harmonic signal with a single frequency is formated when there is leakage error. The method to elimate the effect of leakage error from the contaminated data is also proposed. Some numerical examples show the validation of the proposed method.

  • The diagnosis of mechanical load and of power transmission system failures is usually carried out through mechanical signals such as vibration signals, acoustic emissions, motor speed envelope. If the mechanical load comes from an electrical machine the mechanical failures could be detected previously. Mechanical rotor imbalances and rotor eccentricities are reflected in electric, electromagnetic and mechanical quantities. Therefore, many surveillance schemes apply to the Fourier spectrum of a line current in order to monitor the motor condition. Due to the interaction of the currents and voltages, both these current harmonics are also reflected by a single harmonic component in the frequency spectrum of the electric power. Motor Current Signature Analysis is the usuful technique to assess machine electrical condition.

  • Folded Box coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (FBCARS) spectra of the fundamental symmetric stretch(213 $cm^{-1}$) and the first overtone(421 $cm^{-1}$) of $I_2$ have been recorded over the pump wavelength range from 495 nm to 580 nm. The lineshapes were fitted using the least squares method and the A and C term of CARS were calculated. From the fitting of A and C terms, the real(R) and imaginary(I) term intensity of CARS were calculated using harmonic oscillator program. The calculated CARS excitation profile of $I_2$ with R and I term data was about 270 $cm^{-1}$ red shifted from the absorption spectrum.

  • The elegant early experiments of Herschel demonstrated that there is light after the visible spectrum in a region we call the near infrared (NIR). This was followed by the work which showed that the spectrum went further into what we call the mid infrared (MIR). The MIR has been used for many years as a qualitative and quantitative region to measure constituent values. The MIR region contains the fundamental vibrations which can be theoretically calculated from symmetry rules and harmonic oscillator equations. The NIR is not as straight forward because the region from 400-2500 nm does not contain any of the fundamental vibrations only combination bands and overtones. Over the past fifty years efforts to understand the NIR have largely been ignored while the quantitative aspects of the region have been utilized. This presentation will focus on the efforts to define terms for NIR, examine the calculation of combination bands and overtones and ways to interpret the spectra. The interpretation of the NIR has been aided greatly in recent years by the use of two dimensional spectroscopy which allows the correlation of bands in one spectral region with that of the NIR.

  • The concept and results of a simple constant switching frequency delta modulation scheme suitable for DC-AC power conversion in uninterruptable power supply (UPS) applications are presented. Unlike the traditional delta modulation scheme, the scheme has a well defined harmonic spectrum, resulting in a simple filter design and reduced radio interference.

  • According to a research that is based on a previous study, But in a different way, This study shows fault diagnosis of Induction motor bearing which runs in coal-fired power plant industries on Desulfurization absorber agitator using Spectrum analysis of Stator Current and visual inspection. As a result of harmonic content analysis of stator current spectrum, It was possible to detect ball and outer race fault frequency. The comparison in the context of this experiment proves that the amplitude of faulty frequency is increased in three times at a fault in ball and in outer race. Spectrum analysis of stator current can be used to detect the presence of a fault condition as well as experiment in faulty bearings, besides early fault detection in bearings can prevent unexpected power generation loss and emergency maintenance cost.

  • The fact that material degradation can be evaluated by measuring nonlinear acoustic effect has been proposed by previous studies. The most conventional method to measure nonlinear acoustic effect is to measure the absolute magnitude of fundamental and $2^{nd}$ order harmonic frequency component in the propagated ultrasonic wave. For this aim, power spectral analysis technique has been used widely. However, the power spectral analysis has fatal disadvantage that the gaussian additive noise superimposed in the wave signal remains in the power spectrum domain. Moreover, the magnitude of $2^{nd}$ order harmonic frequency component generated by nonlinear effect is so small that it may be suppressed by the noise remained in the power spectrum. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes an alternative method using bispectrum analysis, which can reduce the effect of addictive gaussian noise and. the nonlinear parameter can be obtained more stably. Simulations showed that the proposed method can obtain the value of nonlinear parameter near to the true value in the case of low SNR signal. Also, in order to confirm the usefulness of our method in actual case, we compared the nonlinear parameter obtained by using both of power spectral and bispectral analysis for several specimen intentionally degraded by fatigue load.
