Air-Conditioner Power Source Device to Meet the Harmonic Guide Lines (고조파 규제값에 적합한 에어컨 전원장치)

  • To improve the current waveform of diode rectifiers, we propose a new operating principle for the voltage-doubler diode rectifiers. In the conventional voltage-doubler rectifier circuit, relatively large capacitors are used to boost the output voltage, while the proposed circuit uses smaller ones and a small reactor not to boost the output voltage but improve the input current waveform. A circuit design method is shown by experimentation and confirmed simulation. The experimental results of the proposed diode rectifier satisfies the harmonic guide lines. A high input power factor of 97(%) and an efficiency of 98[%] are also obtained. The new rectifier with no controlled switches meet the harmonic guide lines, resulting in a simple, reliable and low-cost at-to dc converters in comparison with the boost-type current-improving circuits. This paper proposes a nonlinear impedance circuit composed by diodes and inductors or capacitors. This circuit needs no control circuits and switches, and the impedance value is changed by the polarity of current or voltage. And this paper presents one of these applications to improve the input current of capacitor input diode rectifiers. The rectifier using the nonlinear impedance circuit is constructed with four diodes and four capacitors in addition to the conventional rectifiers, that is, it has eight diodes and five capacitors, including a DC link capacitor. It makes harmonic components of the input current reduction and the power factor improvement. Half pulse-width modulated (HPWM) inverter was explained compared with conventional pulse width modulated(PWM) inverter. Proposed HPWM inverter eliminated dead-time by lowering switching loss and holding over-shooting.

Vibration mitigation of composite laminated satellite solar panels using distributed piezoelectric patches

  • Satellites with flexible lightweight solar panels are sensitive to vibration that is caused by internal actuators such as reaction or momentum wheels which are used to control the attitude of the satellite. Any infinitesimal amount of unbalance in the reaction wheels rotors will impose a harmonic excitation which may interact with the solar panels structure. Therefore, quenching the solar panel's vibration is of a practical importance. In the present work, the panels are modeled as laminated composite beam using first-order shear deformation laminated plate theory which accounts for rotational inertia as well as shear deformation effects. The vibration suppression is achieved by bonding patches of piezoelectric material with suitable dimensions at selected locations along the panel. These patches are actuated by driving control voltages. The governing equations for the system are formulated and the dynamic Green's functions are used to present an exact yet simple solution for the problem. A guide lines is proposed for determining the values of the driving voltage in order to suppress the induced vibration.

  • Generally in solar air conditioning system, the diode rectifier is used to build up DC link voltage from AC source. The diode rectifier is simple and cheap but it brings out the problems of low power factor and plentiful harmonics at the AC source. Also It can degrade the utilization rate of solar energy because the reverse of power flow cannot be made. Hence, in this paper to overcome the peak power problems in summer and to endure good AC input characteristics, solar air conditioning system using the PWM converter is proposed. A high input power factor of 97[%] and an efficiency of 98[%] are also obtained. The harmonic guide lines of proposed rectifier is no interfered with inverter switching, resulting in a simple, reliable and low cost ac to dc converters in comparison with the boost type current improving circuits.
