  • Eringen's nonlocal thermoelasticity theory is used to study wave propagations in a rotating two-temperature thermoelastic half-space with temperature-dependent properties. Using suitable non-dimensional variables, the harmonic wave analysis is used to convert the partial differential equations to ordinary differential equations solving the problem. The modulus of elasticity is given as a linear function of the reference temperature. MATLAB software is used for numerical calculations. Comparisons are carried out with the results in the context of the dual-phase lag model for different values of rotation, a nonlocal parameter, an inclined load, and an empirical material constant. The distributions of physical fields showed that the nonlocal parameter, rotation, and inclined load have great effects. When a nonlocal thermoelastic media is swapped out for a thermoelastic one, this approach still holds true.

  • This paper presented compact CW sub-THz imaging system using the terahertz transmitter(Tx) that generates 0.34 THz electromagnetic wave based on electronic device. Using 0.34 THz electromagnetic wave generated by Tx, we measured transmitting terahertz wave magnitude and phase information respectively with terahertz receiver(Rx) based on sub harmonic mixer. This paper measured and compared images of several samples to obtain better imaging results by changing time delay and step distance of scanning stage which affect image resolution. Also, through the imaging measurement of various samples, we were able to assure possibility of application of terahertz wave.

  • New dynamic analysis procedures lot the vertically drilled sea water pile are suggested and demonstrated by the typical design Problem. Pile structure submerged in the sea water as well as forces by the ocean waves and tidal currents are modeled and formulated by finite element method. To obtain wave forces for the finite element equation, Airy's wave theory is tested and selected among others. Lateral lifting forces induced by the vortex shedding of current flow is simply based on the harmonic function with the Strouhal frequency and lifting coefficient. Natural frequencies and frequency responses for the pile are calculated by NASTRAN using the results of the formulation. Dynamic displacement and stress results obtained by these procedures are shown to be applicable to predict the dynamic behaviors of the ocean pile by the wave and lifting forces as a preliminary design analysis.

  • The evaluation of earthquake load on the surface is very important factor for the seismic reinforcement of existing building, and the magnitude of earthquake load depends on a shear wave velocity profile of soil under a building. To determine a shear wave velocity profile under a existing building, test method should be able to determine a reliable shear wave velocity profile under conditions such as heavy background noise and the small test area, and be sensitive to the variation of material property. In this research, HWAW (Harmonic Wavelet Analysis of Waves) method is applied to determine a shear wave velocity profile under a existing building. In this paper, through numerical simulations and field tests, the feasibility of the proposed method was shown.

  • Disbond size of adhesively bonded single lap and double lap joints CFRP composite specimens has been evaluated using acousto-ultrasonic(AU) technique. Frequency spectra for all specimens were obtained by measuring peak amplitude of the stress wave propagated through the bond-lines. By analyzing these frequency spectra, peak amplitude was found to be proportional to fractional bonding area and to be maxima at the fundamental and the third order higher harmonic frequencies of specimen thickness mode. The disbond size can be evaluated quantitatively and this technique can be applied to real structures if the reference specimens are prepared in advancve.

  • The dispersive phase velocity of a wave propagating through a system is an important parameter and carries valuable information in non-destructive tests related to multilayered systems such as a soil site. The dispersive phase velocity of a wave can be determined using the phase spectrum, which is easily evaluated through the cross power spectrum. However, the phase spectrum as determined using the cross power spectrum is sensitive to background noise which always exists in the field. This causes difficulties in the determination of the dispersive phase velocities. In this paper, a new method to evaluate the phase spectrum using the harmonic wavelet transform is proposed. The proposed method can successfully remove background noise effects. To evaluate the validity of the proposed method, numerical simulations of multi-layered systems were performed. Phase spectrums by the proposed method were found to be in good agreement with the actual phase spectrums under conditions characterized by heavy background noise. This shows the potential of the proposed method.

  • This paper proposes a single-phase Phase-locked loop (PLL) of the virtual two phase generator using full-order state observer, which is essential to find phase and frequency of the single-phase source. The conventional methods cannot remove the low-order harmonics included in source voltage, which influencesto whole PLL control system. The proposed algorithm separates fundamental wave from harmonics, and removes harmonics effectively. Therefore it generates only the fundamental wave. As it controls virtual voltage and input voltage together, it decreases steady-state error. From simulation and experimental results, the generated frequency by the proposed PLL which it plans, converges to the actual value, and the steady-state error is much reduced under given harmonic voltages. It is also confirmed that the proposed algorithm removed harmonics effectively and it generates only the fundamental wave.

  • In this paper, we propose the PLL system of the local oscillator system for the millimeter wave band's radio astronomy receiving system. The development of the proposed local oscillator system based on the YIG oscillator VCO with 26.5 ${\sim}$ 40GHz specification. This system consists of the oscillator part including the YIG VCO, the harmonic mixer, and the isolator, the RF processing part including the triplexer, limiter, and RF discrimination processor. and the PLL system including YIG modulator and controller. Based on this configuration. we verify the frequency and power stability of the developed local oscillator system according to some temperature variation. From this test results we confirm the stable output frequency and power characteristic performance of the developed La system at constant temperature.

  • Using a single-line pulsed laser beam is well known as a useful noncontact method to generate a directional surface acoustic wave. In this method, different laser beam energy profiles produce different waveforms and frequency characteristics. In this paper, we considered two typical kinds of laser beam energy profiles, Gaussian and square-like, to find out a difference in the frequency characteristics. To achieve this, mathematical models were proposed first for Gaussian laser beam profile and square-like respectively, both of which depended on the laser beam width. To verify the theoretical models, experimental setups with a cylindrical lens and a line-slit mask were respectively designed to produce a line laser beam with Gaussian spatial energy profile and square-like. The frequency responses of the theoretical models showed good agreement with experimental results in terms of the existence of harmonic frequency components and the shift of the first peak frequencies to low.
