This work was focused on the material parameter extraction for the isothermal cyclic deformation analysis for which Chaboche(Combined Nonlinear Isotropic and Kinematic Hardening) and Overlay(Multi Linear Hardening) models are normally used. In this study all the parameters were driven especially based on Overlay theories. A simple method is suggested to find out best material parameters for the cyclic deformation analysis prior to the isothermal LCF(Low Cycle Fatigue) analysis. The parameter extraction was done using 400 series stainless steel data which were published in the reference papers. For simple and quick review of the parameters extracted by suggested method, 1D FORTRAN program was developed, and this program could reduce the time for checking the material data tremendously. For the application to FE code ABAQUS user subroutine for the material models was developed by means of UMAT(User Material Subroutine), and the stabilized hysteresis loops obtained by the numerical analysis were in good harmony with test results.

This paper deals with the three-dimensional finite element analysis of failure behavior of UHPFRC I-beam under monotonic load. Different from the constitutive law of normal and high strength concrete, an elastic-plastic fracture model that considers the tensile strain hardening is proposed to describe the material properties of UHPFRC. A multi-directional fixed crack criterion with tensile strain hardening is defined in the tensile region, and Drucker-Prager criterion with an associated flow rule is adopted in the compressive region. The influence of span, prestressing force and section on the behavior of UHPFRC I-beam are investigated. The comparison of the numerical results with the test results indicates a good agreement.
Objective: To present a hybrid approach that incorporates a constrained beam-hardening estimator (CBHE) and deep learning (DL)-based post-refinement for metal artifact reduction in dental cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods: Constrained beam-hardening estimator (CBHE) is derived from a polychromatic X-ray attenuation model with respect to X-ray transmission length, which calculates associated parameters numerically. Deep-learning-based post-refinement with an artifact disentanglement network (ADN) is performed to mitigate the remaining dark shading regions around a metal. Artifact disentanglement network (ADN) supports an unsupervised learning approach, in which no paired CBCT images are required. The network consists of an encoder that separates artifacts and content and a decoder for the content. Additionally, ADN with data normalization replaces metal regions with values from bone or soft tissue regions. Finally, the metal regions obtained from the CBHE are blended into reconstructed images. The proposed approach is systematically assessed using a dental phantom with two types of metal objects for qualitative and quantitative comparisons. Results: The proposed hybrid scheme provides improved image quality in areas surrounding the metal while preserving native structures. Conclusion: This study may significantly improve the detection of areas of interest in many dentomaxillofacial applications.
This study addresses evaluation of performance of hardening model for a titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) based on the artificial neural network (ANN) regarding the strain rate and the temperature. Uniaxial compression tests were carried out at different strain rates from 0.001 /s to 10 /s and temperatures from 575 ℃ To 975 ℃. Using the experimental data, ANN models were trained and tested with different hyperparameters, such as size of hidden layer and optimizer. The input features were determined with the equivalent plastic strain, strain rate, and temperature while the output value was set to the equivalent stress. When the number of data is sufficient with a smooth tendency, both the Bayesian regulation (BR) and the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) show good performance to predict the flow behavior. However, only BR algorithm shows a predictability when the number of data is insufficient. Furthermore, a proper size of the hidden layer must be confirmed to describe the behavior with the limited number of the data.
Ni-based superalloys have exceptional performance in high-temperature strength, corrosion resistance, etc, and it has been widely used in various applications that require corrosion resistance at high-temperature operations. However, the relatively expensive cost of the Ni-based superalloys is one of the major hurdles. The corrosion-resisted alloy(CRA) clad materials can be a cost-effective solution. In this study, finite element analysis of the hot rolling process for manufacturing of the Alloy 625/API X65 steel CRA clad plates is conducted. The stress-strain curves of the two materials are measured in compressive tests for various temperature and strain rate conditions, using the Gleeble tester. Then, strain hardening behavior is modeled following the modified Johnson-Cook model. Finite element analysis of the hot rolled cladding process is performed using this strain rate and temperature dependent hardening model. Finally, the thickness ratio of the CRA and base material is predicted and compared with experimental values.
Plastic buckling of tubular columns has been attributed to rotational instability of plastic hinges. The present study aimed to characterize the plastic hinges for two different grades of strain-hardening, examined in mild-steel (MS) and stainless-teel (SS) tubes with un-strengthened and strengthened conditions. At the primary stage, the formerly tested experimental specimens were simulated using full-scale FE models considering nonlinear response of the materials, then to estimate the characteristics of the plastic hinges, a meso model was developed from the critical region of the tubes and the moment-rotation diagrams were depicted under pure bending conditions. By comparison of the relative rotation diagram obtained by the full-scale models with the critical rotation under pure bending, the length and critical rotation of the plastic hinges under eccentric axial load were estimated. The stress and displacement diagrams indicated the mechanism of higher energy absorption in the strengthened tubes, compared to unstrengthened specimens, due to establishment of stable wrinkles along the tubes. The meso model showed that by increasing the critical rotation in the strengthened MS tube equal to 1450%, the energy absorption of the tube has been enhanced to 2100%, prior to collapse.
A simplified numerical procedure to predict drawbead restraining forces(DBRF) has been developed based on the hybrid membrane/bending method which superposes bending effects onto membrane solutions. As a semi-analytical method, the new approach is especially useful to analyze the effects of various constitutive parameters. The present model can accommodate general anisotropic yield functions along with non-linear isotropic-kinematic hardening under the plane strain condition. For the preliminary results, several sensitivity analyses for the process and material effects such as friction, drawbead depth, hardening behavior including the Bauschinger effect and yield surface shapes on the DBRF are carried out.
Induction hardening process of tubular drive shaft for automobile is simulated by combining the thermal, mechanical, electro-magnetic and metallurgical analysis models. Various material properties for each analysis model are obtained in a consistent way via material properties calculation software, JMatPro®. To consider the scanning process of induction heating, boundary element method is adopted for electro-magnetic field calculation. The distribution of temperature, stress and phase volume fraction are tracked out through the whole process and the effect of scanning velocity is reviewed. The analysis result shows that the critical principal stress is developed at the phase boundary where martensite is formed.
When a tubular cantilever beam is loaded by a dynamic force applied transversely at its tip, the strain hardening of the material tends to increase the load carrying capacity and local buckling and cross-sectional overlization occurring in the tube section tends to reduce the moment carrying capacity and results in structural softening. A theoretical model is presented in this paper to analyze the deformation of a tubular beam in a dynamic response mode. Based on a large deflection analysis, the hardening/softening M-${\kappa}$ relationship is introduced. The main interest is on the curvature development history and the deformed configuration of the beam.

The seismic overstrength factor $\Omega$ is evaluated for 4-story reinforced concrete buildings in Korea(of which seismic intensity is low). The study model is designed according to aseismic guideline research - phase II in Korea. The effect of variation of span length and bay number, dead load is considered, especially including the variation of hardening ration after yielding. And push-over analysis is performed, in which the external and internal frame is connected by rigid-link and the $\Omega$ is calculated using the roof drift ratio at 2%. For Zone I, the mean value of $\Omega$ is ranged form 2.3 to 2.5, For Zone II, from 3.1 to 3.4. For low hardening ratio(3%) after yielding, $\Omega$ has little relations with the number of bay, like as the results of other research. But for 5% hardening ratio, $\Omega$ is increased as the number of bay is increased. Within general gravity-load bound, the variation of D.L. has variation of D. L. has no effect on $\Omega$. And, $\Omega$ is increased as the span length is increased.
