  • The aim of the work described in this paper is to develope a constitutive model for the prediction of an unsaturated clayey soil and to confirm the application of the model. To this end a series of suction controlled isotropic and triaxial compression tests are conducted on clayey soils. Matric suction is controlled by the axis translation technique using high air entry ceramic disk. Total volume change, air and water volume changes are measured by the device made for the experiment. The specimens are compacted by dynamic compaction using a half of Proctor compaction energy with the water contents of 5% drier than the optimum moisture contents. From test results, volume changes and deviator stresses are analyzed at each state and their relationships are formulated. And the application of the model to clayey soils is confirmed by the comparison between test and predicted results. During drying-wetting and loading-unloading processes for isotropic states, the agreement between predicted and test results are satisfactory. And predicted deviator stresses are well agreed with the test results in shearing process, but volumetric strain is not well agreed with the test results in high suctions.

  • The recent advances in wireless networks area have led to new techniques, such as small cells or full-duplex (FD) transmission, have also been developed to further increase the network capacity. Particularly, full-duplex communication promises expected throughput gain by doubling the spectrum compared to half-duplex (HD) communication. Because this technique permits one set of frequencies to simultaneously transmit and receive signals. In this paper, we focus on the binary power control for the users and the base stations in full-duplex multiple cellulars wireless networks to obtain optimal sum-rate under the effect interference and noise. We investigate with a scenario in there one carrier is assigned to only one user in each cell and construct a model for this problem. In this work, we apply the binary power control by the its simplification in the implemented algorithm for both uplink and downlink simultaneously to maximize sum data rate of the system. At first, we realize the 2-cells case separately to check the optimal power allocation whether being binary. Then, we carry on with N-cells case in general through properties of binary power control.

  • Recently many efforts have been made to improve the efficiency of design and production of the structures using the automation system. But, this work has been progressed as independent or partial system. And, the study on the integrated system is not sufficient in application for practical problems yet. This paper deals with the fundamental concept of modeling system and application method on structural modeling. At first, the core of the integrated system is a shape modeling system that can represent the geometric and topological information. This system must be designed as an open system to be combined with each independent automation system. The appropriate concept to realize this system on structural modeling is object oriented modeling and this enables to integrate each automation system successfully, This concept was applied to automatic mesh generation. For shape modeling system, half-edge data structure that is being used in solid modeling was modified to handle the plate structure in the plane. And, to generate the triangular meshes, direct node connection method was used. And, as a result, the integrated system that generate the meshes of two dimensional structure automatically was realized. And, programmed by C++, these systems can be combined with other systems easily and have good reusability.

  • Tensile and low cycle fatigue (LCF) tests on prior cold worked 316L stainless steel were carried out at various temperatures from room temperature to 650$^{\circ}C$. At all test temperatures, cold worked material showed the tendency of higher strength and lower ductility compared with those of solution treated material. The embrittlement of material occurred in the temperature region from 300$^{\circ}C$ to 600$^{\circ}C$ due to dynamic strain aging. Following initial cyclic hardening for a few cycles, cycling softening was observed to dominate until failure occurred during LCF deformation, and the cyclic softening behavior strongly depended on temperature and strain amplitude. Non-Masing behavior was observed at all test temperatures and hysteresis energy curve method was employed to describe the stress-strain hysteresis loops at half$.$life. The prediction shows a good agreement with the experimental results.

  • Water meter frost in winter is a nuisance to the water administration and citizen as well. It causes stop of water supply, possibility of accident due to leakage freezing, and additional official work to change frost water meters. This study was carried out to give some basic information of water meter frost condition, to verify the effect of frost protection devices such as lagging vinyl cover, electric heater, and meter pit using subterranean heat. Nearly half of the number of the water meter frost happens in old apartment house with outer corridor, and temperature of the meter box was measured in that kind of apartment house, comparing with atmosphere temperature. The capability of three kinds of lagging vinyl cover was investigated by measuring the inside temperature of the insulated box. Also the capability of existing meter pits and new meter pits using subterranean heat was compared by measuring the inside temperature of the pits. One of the result is that the inside temperature of meter pits using subterranean heat was higher than that of the existing ones, and deeper pit causes higher inside temperature in case of using subterranean heat.

  • This work introduces a simple one-reactor adsorption desalination system that harnesses low temperature heat sources (solar energy, waste heat), which has been experimentally studied to elicit the most suitable design parameters and operating conditions. The design process of the system was divided into three parts to reflect the operating principle of desalination technology with application of adsorption processes. First, the evaporator for the vaporization of saline water was designed, then the reactor for the adsorption and release of the steam, followed by the condenser for condensation of the fresh water. The specific water yield is measured experimentally with respect to the time while controlling parameters such as heat source temperatures, coolant temperatures, system switching and half-cycle operational times. The present system well demonstrates the applicability of silica gel in relation to adsorption technologies that utilize low temperature heat sources ranging from 60 to $80^{\circ}C$, such as solar energy and waste heat.

  • The dragon of the East was an object of worship and an authority to make rain, unlike the West. The dragon image, one of the positively accepted Chinese motifs with the blue-and-white porcelain of the Ming dynasty by the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century, was combined with gigantic saw-edged leaves to create a genre in Saz style. By combining Eastern dragons with plant motifs instead of clouds, dragons were no longer accepted as authority and nobility but as symbols of life and longevity. Unlike Iran and other countries, the image of dragons in Turkish miniature paintings has evolved into a unique style using Turkish calligraphy. The stylistic feature is that a thick black line that gives the impression of calligraphy forms the dragon's back or a huge saz leaf stalk and forms the axis of the screen. Most of the work was black ink drawing, not painting, and partly lightly painted. In the development stage, the dragon appears as a protagonist on the screen of the early works, but the dragon retreats to the latter half and the saz leaves play a leading role on the screen. A common feature in all paintings, whether early or late, is that they have a militant character and create tension on the screen. From the viewpoint of comparative culture, Turkish dragon miniature drawings of the 16thcentury Ottoman period and the Joseon dynasty are somewhat similar in that they are based on calligraphic character and desire for longevity and loyalty, and are drawn according to certain iconic principles.

  • B$\Phi$rrensen proposed a coarse mesh, three-dimensional one-and-half group diffusion scheme for computing the gross power distribution in light water reactors as an alternative to the conventional fine mesh finite difference approach in dealing with three dimensional problems, which require a prohibitively long computing time. The method reported takes extremely small execution time. However, its computational accuracy has not been investigated yet. The B$\Phi$rrensen method is revised in this work and both efficiency and accuracy are examined by applying it to IAEA benchmark problem and RIS$\Phi$ benchmark problem. It is found that two modifications on core-reflector boundary conditions and B$\Phi$rrensen's model constants may improve computational accuracy of power distribution calculation.

  • From the 1957's of the cradle which curricula of library science was applicable to university to the 1978's today of heyday, it has been rapidly developing in the 20 years (1957-1978) and they have 5 junior colleges, 9 undergraduate courses, 5 graduate courses, 1 Ph. D. course. The education of library science above the undergraduate course was given greatly prominence to the theory of library science, information science and foreign languages more than that of the putting first in the practical business and built up the educational system of library science. Today is the informatization period from the 1960's. The fact which the automation of library works was attached in the latter half of the 1970's in Korea is the social need in order to respond to the worldwide tendency. As a result of making an analysis of curricula from junior colleges to graduate schools in this paper, I took the new direction which it is an alternative plan of the point at issue, and I want to be useful in the education of library science forwards.
