  • In this paper we propose a protection mechanism for the debug port. While debug ports are useful tools for embedded device development and maintenance, they can also become potential attack tools for device hacking in case their usage is permitted to hackers with malicious intentions. The proposed approach prevents illicit use of debug ports by controlling access through user authentication, where the device generates and issues authentication token only to the server-authenticated users. An authentication token includes user access information which represents the user's permitted level of access and the maximum number of authentications allowed using the token. The device authenticates the user with the token and grants limited access based on the user's access level. The proposed approach improves the degree of overall security by removing the need to expose the device's secret key. Availability is also enhanced by not requiring server connection after the initial token generation and further by supporting flexible token transfer among predefined device groups. Low implementation cost is another benefit of the proposed approach, enabling it to be adopted to a wide range of environments in demand of debug port protection.

  • In accordance with information security compliance and security regulations, there is a need to develop regular and real-time concepts for cyber-infringement attacks against network system vulnerabilities in branch and periodic forms. Vulnerability Analysis Analysis It is judged that it will be a countermeasure against new hacking attack in case of concept validation by interworking with TOOL. Vulnerability check module is standardized in event attribute management and ease of operation. Opening in terms of global sharing of vulnerability data, owasp zap / Angry ip Etc. were investigated in the SIEM system with interlocking design implementation method. As a result, it was proved that the inspection events were monitored and transmitted to the SIEM console by the vulnerability module of web and network target. In consideration of this, ESM And SIEM system In this paper, we propose a new vulnerability analysis method based on the existing information security consultation and the results of applying this study. Refer to the integrated interrelationship analysis and reference Vulnerability target Goal Hacking It is judged to be a new active concept against invasion attack.

  • One of the causes of many damage cases that occur today by hacking attack is social engineering attack. The attacker is usually a malicious traitor or an ignorant insider. As a solution, we are strengthening security training for all employees in the organization. Nevertheless, there are frequent situations in which computers are shared. In this case, the person in charge of the computer has difficulty in tracking and responding when a specific representative accessed and what a specific representative did. In this paper, we propose the method that the person in charge of the computer tracks in real time through the smartphone when a representative access the computer, when a representative access offline using hacked or shared authentication. Also, we propose a method to prevent the leakage of important information by encrypting and backing up important files of the PC through the smartphone in case of abnormal access.

  • Ransomware attacks, such as Conti, Ryuk, Petya, and Sodinokibi, that target medical institutions are increasing rapidly. In 2020, in the United States., ransomware attacks affected over 600 separate clinics, hospitals, and organizations, and more than 18 million patient records. The cost of these attacks is estimated to be almost $21 billion USD. The first death associated with a ransomware attack was reported in 2020 by the University Hospital of Düesseldorf in Germany. In the case of medical institutions, as introduced in the Medjack report issued by TrapX Labs, in many cases, attackers target medical devices that are relatively insecure and then penetrate deep into more critical network infrastructure, such as EMR servers. This paper introduces security vulnerabilities of hospital medical devices, considerations for ransomware response by medical institutions, and related technology trends.

  • Our PC have been under constant threat of malicious codes and viruses today. As many new ways of cyber attacks are being developed, such as zero-day-attack, nobody's PC is guaranteed to be safe from the attacks. In case where a user uses the existing verification protocol on a unsecured PC, the user's verification information may well be threatened by sniffing or man-in-the-middle attack. Especially, deadly attacks like memory hacking would give hard time for users to even recognize any symptom of virus infection. Therefore, this paper designs secured QR-Login user verification protocol for smart devices that are ready to communicate with QR-Code and proposes a way to keep critical data safe when using the internet. This way, user would be able to safeguard his/her critical data even when under attack by unknown attacks and safely carry out extremely sensitive task, like financial trading, on the device.

  • Nation-state social engineering attacks are steadily being carried out as they are highly effective attacks, primarily to gain an advantage over secret information, diplomatic negotiations or future policy changes. As The Ukraine-Russia war prolongs, the activities of global hacking organizations are steadily increasing, and large-scale cyberattack attempts against major infrastructure or global companies continue, so a countermeasure strategy is needed. To this end, we determined that the social engineering attack cycle excluding physical contact among various social engineering models is the most suitable model, and analyzed the preferred social engineering attack method by comparing it with geopolitical tactics through case analysis. AS a result China favors phishing attacks, which prefer quantity over quality, such as man-made tactics, Russia prefers covert and complex spear phishing reminiscent of espionage warfare, and North Korea uses geopolitical tactics such as spear phishing and watering holes for attacks on the US and South Korea Most of the other countries aimed to secure funds with ransomware. Accordingly, a Clean Pass policy for China, periodic compulsory education in Russia, and international sanctions against North Korea were presented as countermeasure strategies.

  • In order to protect information asset from various malicious code, Honeypot system is implemented. Honeypot system is designed to elicit attacks so that internal system is not attacked or it is designed to collect malicious code information. However, existing honeypot system is designed for the purpose of collecting information, so it is designed to induce inflows of attackers positively by establishing disguised server or disguised client server and by providing disguised contents. In case of establishing disguised server, it should reinstall hardware in a cycle of one year because of frequent disk input and output. In case of establishing disguised client server, it has operating problem such as procuring professional labor force because it has a limit to automize the analysis of acquired information. To solve and supplement operating problem and previous problem of honeypot's hardware, this thesis suggested hybrid honeypot. Suggested hybrid honeypot has honeywall, analyzed server and combined console and it processes by categorizing attacking types into two types. It is designed that disguise (inducement) and false response (emulation) are connected to common switch area to operate high level interaction server, which is type 1 and low level interaction server, which is type 2. This hybrid honeypot operates low level honeypot and high level honeypot. Analysis server converts hacking types into hash value and separates it into correlation analysis algorithm and sends it to honeywall. Integrated monitoring console implements continuous monitoring, so it is expected that not only analyzing information about recent hacking method and attacking tool but also it provides effects of anticipative security response.

  • Purpose - These days, an individual user, private entity, hears everyday news of hacking and personal information leakage in the era of a most-connected society. This study investigates cyber attack, cyber insurance and distribution channels for insurance goods in South Korea by analyzing various cases of cyber attacks in domestic and overseas case. Research design, data and methodology - This study adopted various study cases instead of the one large case for deep quality analysis, and focused on various cases of domestic and overseas cyber attacks with insurance. Result - As a result of analyzing the cases that were hacked, types of massive losses and damages arising out of internet blackout due to cyber risks are paralyzation of public and private website and portal, electronic administrative system, public infrastructure, and consequently a normal operation of nation is impossible. These losses and damages however can be coverable under cyber insurance. Conclusions - This paper suggests insurance carriers, as suppliers, should provide multiple channels to sell to the customer and should expand the strategy of advertisement and promotion in order for them to change their mind and compare the price and value of the information of individual users and private entity in view of cost savings.
