  • New azomethine metal complexes were synthesized systematically and characterized. Beryllium, magnesium, or zinc ions were used as a central metal cation and aromatic azomethines (L1-L4) were employed as a chelating anionic ligand. Emission peaks o f the complexes in both solution and solid states were observed mostly at the region of 400-500 nm in the luminescence spectra, where blue light was emitted. Three of them (BeL1 (Ⅰ), ZnL2 (Ⅱ), and ZnL3 (Ⅲ)) were sublimable and thus were applied to the organic light-emitting devices (OLED) as an emitting layer, respectively. The device including the emitting layer of Ⅰ exhibited white emission with the broad luminescence spectral range. The device with the emitting layer of Ⅱ showed blue luminescence with the maximum emission peak at 460 nm. Their ionization potentials, electron affinities, and electrochemical band gaps were investigated with cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical gaps of 2.98 for I, 2.70 for Ⅱ, and 2.63 eV for Ⅲ were found to be consistent with their respective optical band gaps of 3.01, 2.95 and 2.61 eV within an experimental error. The structure of OLED manufactured in this study reveals that these complexes can work as electron transporting materials as well.

  • The visual observation of wave condition depends on the observer's skill and experience. Also, the environmental conditions such as light and cloud heavily influence the visual measurement. In the speed test of sea trial, the wave measurement should be objective and accurate. In this paper, the problems of visual measurement and their effects on speed test are described. To overcome those problems, we developed the wave measurement system using commercial marine X-band radar, WaveFinder. The system installed at inland base was calibrated by waverider buoy and then the system's operability was defined. Onboard tests had also been performed three times for formal wave measurement to correct the ship speed. The results illustrated very good agreement with visual observation by experts. It can be concluded that the system would be useful to measure wave and swell information for the sea trial, irrespective of day and night.

  • A new type of high frequency wideband ultrasonic transducer with a separation between a transmitter and a receiver was proposed and its characteristics were simulated using a PSpice model. The piezoelectric ceramic $PbTiO_{3}$ as a transmitter and the piezoelectric copolymer P(VDF- TrFE) as a receiver were used for high sensitivity and wide bandwidth, respectively. The characteristics of the focusing transducer with center frequency of approximately 35MHz fabricated in this study showed very wide bandwidth, which could give an axial spatial resolution better than $30{\mu}m$ in B-mode image for biological tissues.

  • Genomic DNA from the muscle of marsh clam (Corbicula leana) from Gochang was extracted in order to identify genetic differences and similarity by randomly amplified polymorphic DNAs-polymerase chain reaction. 3.28 of the 23.0 polymorphic bands per lane were found to be polymorphic in marsh clam. Also, about 4.34% of total polymorphic bands were either specific to marsh clam. The major common bands of 0.28 kb generated by primer OPB-15 (GGAGGGTGTT) were present in every individuals, respectively, which were polymorphic. This common bands which present in every individuals should be diagnostic of specific strains, species and/or their relatedness. Primer OPB-19 (ACCCCCGAAG) produced the highest number of specific bands, which was 12. The specific minor band of 0.07 kb was present in lane 22, which were polymorphic. Especially, only a specific band (1.35 kb) identifying individuals was observed in lane 22.

  • In this paper, a compact triplexer has been implemented for Cellular/GPS/USPCS applications. In order to realize the proposed triplexer, we use a low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) substrate to enable a fully compact integrated module using a multi-layer high-density architecture, and conjugate-match the channels instead of the open matching technique. The three dimensional design capability of LTCC substrates can reduce the overall size of the triplexer, resulting in dimensions on the order of $3.2\;mm\;{\times}\;2.5\;mm\;{\times}\;1\;mm$. The measured result shows that the triplexer has, in Cellular/GPS/USPCS bands, the insertion loss of less than 0.5dB, less than 1.7dB, and less than 0.9dB in order. Also, the triplexer has an isolation of more than 15dB in the cellular and USPCS bands and an isolation of more than 20dB in the GPS band.

  • $BaMgP_2O_7$:Eu,Mn phosphors for white emission were synthesized and their luminescent properties were investigated under UV excitation. The phosphor emits two colors: a blue band by $Eu^{2+}$ and a red band by $Mn^{2+}$. Due to the efficient energy transfer from $Eu^{2+}$ to $Mn^{2+}$, the red emission positioned at 615 nm is greatly enhanced with increasing $Mn^{2+}$ content up to 17.5 mol%.

  • This paper presents an ultra-wideband (UWB) CMOS low noise amplifier (LNA) topology that operates in 3.1-10.6GHz band. The common gate structure provides wideband input matching and flattens the passband gain. The proposed UWB amplifier is implemented in 0.18 um CMOS technology for lower band operation mode. Simulation shows a minimum NF of 2.35 dB, a power gain of $18.3{\sim}20\;dB$, better than -10 dB of input and output matching, while consuming 16.4 mW.

  • At room temperature, metallic glasses deform inhomogeneously by strain localization into narrow bands as a result of yielding due to an external force. When shear bands are generated during deformation, often nanocrystals form at the shear bands. Experimental results on the deformation of bulk metallic glass in the current study suggest that the occurrence of nanocrystallization at a shear band implies the loading condition that induces deformation is more triaxial in nature than uniaxial. Under a compressive stress state, the geometrical constraint strain imposed by the stress triaxiality plays a crucial role in the deformation-induced nanocrystallization at the shear bands.

  • In this paper, a tunable image rejection filter using two varactors is developed for mobile convergence. The filter is fabricated on a 0.25um substrate. ESD Pad is embedded to prevent damage caused by electrostatic discharge(ESD). Bias voltages are at WCDMA(2.1GHz). WiBro(2.3GHz), and WLAN(2.45) are 0.5V, 0.95V and 1.8V respectively. And the image rejection rations are more than 28dB at each band and insertion losses are less than 2dB at each band.
