  • The performance of several catalysts to decompose the high test peroxide (HTP) was described in this paper. Manganese oxide, Platinum and Iridium were coated on the gamma alumina. The response time of various catalysts was measured with a 50 Newton class thruster. Ir/$Al_2O_3$ that showed the fastest response time at the thruster, failed the reaction when continuous mode test was carried out with the thruster. Pt/$Al_2O_3$ and MnO_2/Al_2O_3$ can be substitutes to decompose the HTP. In addition, for larger thruster, MnO_2/Al_2O_3$ can be a good catalyst because its cost is below 5 % of Pt/$Al_2O_3$.

  • We have previously reported that the antagonism of U-50,488H-induced antinociception in mice pretreated with ginseng total saponins (GTS) Ivas abolished by pretreatment with a serotonin precursor, 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), but not by a noradrenaline precursor, L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA) in the tail flick test. In the present experiments, the effect of the same GTS on the development of tolerance to U-50,488H-induced antinociception was determined. GTS inhibited the development of tolerance to U-50,488H-induced antinociception. The inhibitory effect of GTS on the development of tolerance to U-50,488H-induced antinociception was reversed by 5-HTP, but not by L-DOPA. These findings suggest that the inhibitory effect of GTS on the development of tolerance to U-50,488H-induced antinociception is dependent on serotonergic mechanisms. Key words Ginseng total saponin, U-50,488H, tolerance, serotonin.

  • Purpose: We aimed to identify associations between the frequency of electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use and smoking-related characteristics among adolescent smokers. Methods: We used data from the 14th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey. The participants were 3,722 smokers who had smoked cigarettes on at least one day during the past 30 days. The frequency of e-cigarette use was defined as the number of days that participants used e-cigarettes during the past 30 days, and was divided into four categories: 0, 1~2, 3~9, and ${\geq}10$ days. We used the $x^2$ test and multinomial logistic regression to examine the associations between the frequency of e-cigarette use and smoking-related characteristics. Results: Those who attempted to quit smoking, had used a heated tobacco product (HTP) at least once, or initiated e-cigarette use before middle school were more likely to use e-cigarettes for 3~9 days in the past 30 days. More frequent e-cigarette use (${\geq}10$ days) was associated with a higher frequency and greater amount of cigarette use, lifetime HTP use, and earlier initiation of e-cigarette use. Conclusion: Smoking-related characteristics differed by the frequency of e-cigarette use. Therefore, intervention programs targeting adolescent smokers should consider differences in smoking-related characteristics based on the frequency of e-cigarette use.

  • Objectives : This article aims to find how effective the art therapy is on the improvement of the self expression and the interpersonal relations with others, as medium for verbal communication of schizophrenic patients. Methods : The subject of this study was one schizophrenic patient who had been treated with drugs for five years in W university hospital, as well as counseled by an art therapy oo counsel office in J city. The art therapy had been performed the total 25 sessions, fifty minute per session, one session per week, from November 28 in 2008 to April 27 in 2009. The test was by HTP. Results : The results of this study are as follows: First, in the pretest of HTP, the subject showed a little lethargy, painting very simple house-shaped figures and too simple rectangular figures corresponding to those painted by 4 or 5-year-old children. In the post-test, however, the structures of houses were described concretely and three-dimensionally, and the descriptions of people were changed into concrete figure, by which we could see the improvement effect on the self expression and the interpersonal relations. Second, in the earlier stage, there was little verbal self expression, and little self respect, staring into space and showing passive attitude without positive assertion and expression. In the later stage, however, there were positive assertion and expression, even showing sense of humor. Lastly, in the earlier stage, there were few interpersonal relations. In the later stage, however, eye contacts and the interpersonal relations were increased during conversation and in the art work process, respectively. Conclusions : These results suggest that the art therapy can be effective on improvement of the self expression and the interpersonal relations with others, as medium for verbal communication of schizophrenic patients.

  • The purpose of the study is to prove the effectiveness of bibliotherapy program to overcome of the excessive absorption on games for children. A 12-week programs were developed and managed in 1-2 grade, 3-4 grade, 5-6 grade for the elementary school student. Also MGUS (Maladaptive Game Use Scale), Self-Esteem Inventory, Self-Control Inventory, and HTP(House, Tree, Person) Diagnosis Tool were measured prior to the bibliotherapy and post-tests were followed to the participants statistically by t-test. According to analysis results, the bibliotherapy program was effectiveness to overcome of the excessive absorption on games for children.

  • This study analyzed the the effect of group art therapy on sociality of children in institutional care focus on anger and empathy. The study divided children into two groups, experimental group was treated group art therapy for twice a week(60 minutes, total 25) and control group was treated none. The study results showed that group art therapy had positive impact on improving sociality, anger conrol and emphatic ability of children in institutional care. Also, there had been positive change in their work in the aspect of form and content by HTP, KSD, DAS test. This study found that group art therapy helped improving institutionalized children's socility with anger control and empathic ability, so it is suggested that group art therapy studies for institutionalized children are of help to improve their sociality.

  • This study aimed at helping elementary school students from multicultural family in boosting their self-esteem and school adjustment by conducting the program of art Counseling. The research was carried out by performing art Counseling on two first-graders from multicultural family whom I have been supervising in the class at T elementary school in G City, South Chungcheong Province. The art Counseling program employed in the study is the one the researcher developed by reorganizing the programs used in previous studies in a way that would confirm to the aim of the research. A 40 minutes session was held twice a week from August 30, 2011 to October 6, 2011, resulting in a total of 10 sessions. The researcher herself conducted the sessions during after school at the first grade classroom of T elementary school. The following analyses were performed to generate results of elementary school students from multicultural family, "the test measuring self-esteem", "the test measuring the school life adjustment", "the K-HTP test" was conducted before and after the art counseling program. The results were analyzed through comparison. The foregoing analyses revealed that the art Counseling program is effective for elementary school students from multicultural family.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the sand play therapeutic effect for a middle-aged woman who shows the depression because of her husband's debauchery. The client showed psychological conflict, also her children appeared the schoolwork problem and regression. For the pre-test, HTP, KED, SCT and MMPI were used. As a result of analysis she was under heavy stress and chose to sleep as a mean to forget herself. The sand play total sessions were 19. The subject of the sand play therapy were analysed the sessions into the chaos stage, the struggle stage, ego/self axis stage and the adaptation stage. Sand play therapy helps the client's positive change and accept in the sand play. The sand play therapy was effective and significant to cure to middle-aged woman with depression.

  • This study examined the Influence of ginseng total saponins (GTS) on the analgestic action and tolerance development of pentazocine in mice. Pentazocine prolonged the latency to response in the tail flick rather than in the tail pinch test. The analgesic effect of pentaEocine was antagonized by naloxone and completely eliminated by pretreatment u·ith f-chlorophenylalanine (PCPA). GTS provented the pentasocine-incuced analgesia ann inhibited the development of tolerance to pentazocine. The antagonistic effect of GTS on the pentazocine-induced analgesia was abolished by 5-HTP, but not by L-DOPA. These results suggest that GTS inhibits the analgesic action of pentazocine by the interaction with serotonergic neuron.
