  • In the life environment changed with not only the material abundance but also the quality, it is the most crucial factor for the strategy of sensibility engineering to investigate vital signal according to the sensibility. In this perspective, it is necessary to design and merchandise the products in cope with each sensibility and needs as well as its functional aspects. In this paper, we proposed the correlation between the visual sensibility and the vital signal using the wearable based electrocardiogram sensing clothes. We measured the electrocardiogram (ECG) signal by wearing the electrocardiogram sensing clothes. The heart rate variability (HRV) is calculated form the acquired ECG signal by wearing the electrocardiogram sensing clothes. And the power spectrum analysis using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is evaluated the correlation between the visual sensibility and the vital signal. we plan to conduct empirical applications to verify the adequacy and the validity of the proposed method.

  • Emotion is closely related to the life of human, so has effect on many parts such as concentration, learning ability, etc. and makes to have different behavior patterns. The purpose of this paper is to extract important features based on physiological signals to recognize negative emotion. In this paper, after acquisition of electrocardiography(ECG), electroencephalography(EEG), skin temperature(SKT) and galvanic skin response(GSR) measurements based on physiological signals, we designed an accurate and fast algorithm using combination of linear discriminant analysis(LDA) and genetic algorithm(GA), then we selected important features. As a result, the accuracy of the algorithm is up to 96.4% and selected features are Mean, root mean square successive difference(RMSSD), NN intervals differing more than 50ms(NN50) of heart rate variability(HRV), ${\sigma}$ and ${\alpha}$ frequency power of EEG from frontal region, ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, and ${\gamma}$ frequency power of EEG from central region, and mean and standard deviation of SKT. Therefore, the features play an important role to recognize negative emotion.

  • Background: Mahuang (Ephedra sinica STAPF) is well known as an herbal medicine and has been widely used to reduce body weight and increase athletic ability. However, as a result of reporting many cases of adverse effects on the cardiovascular system, use of dietary supplements containing ephedra was prohibited by the FDA. Objectives : The object of this study was to find the effectiveness of ephedra on weight loss without severe adverse effect. Methods : 16 healthy volunteers consisting of an ephedra group (N=8) and a placebo group (N=8) were investigated. Study form was a randomized, controlled, double-blind clinical trial. The ephedra group took 12g of ephedra while the placebo group took 12g of glutinous rice powder. Both groups were measured with BCA (body composition analysis) on weight loss and with HRV (heart rate variability) on its adverse effect before and after medication. Results : The following results were obtained after taking 12g of ephedra for 14 days. In the ephedra group, body weight reduced significantly. In the placebo group, there were no significant differences of body weight between before and after placebo treatment. There was a slight increase of heart beat rate and deactivation of cardiac activity. Parasympathetic nerves were deactivated, but balances of autonomic nervous system were well maintained. Conclusions : The results suggest that ephedra in healthy adults tends to reduce body weight and deactivation of autonomic nervous system and cardiac activity.

  • Objectives : This study was designed to analyze the characteristic of heart rate variability(HRV) changes between Deficiency Pattern and Excess Pattern in Stroke Patients admitted to the hospital. Methods : We measured heart rate variability of stroke patients who were admitted to the Department of Korean Internal medicine, Stroke and Neurological Disorders Center from February 1, 2015 to May 30, 2016. We recruited a total of 28 stroke patients and heart rate variability tests were performed on the first day of admission, 2weeks after admission, and 4 weeks after admission. Results : VLF and LF/HF ratio significantly increased over time in Deficiency Pattern group compared with those in the Excess Pattern group. Conclusions : This results suggest that the parasympathetic function of Deficiency Pattern group is lower than that of the Excess Pattern group, resulting in imbalance of the autonomic nervous system.

  • Objectives: This study was performed to investigate the effect of cold stress on heart rate variability and peripheral blood flow by Doppler ultrasound in healthy subjects. Methods: We classified the subjects by their Yin or Yang tendency using a Yin-Yang questionnaire. Cold stress was taken on the left hand of subjects for 10 seconds. Heart rate variability and peripheral blood flow were measured on the right radial artery before and after cold stress. Results: The Yang tendency group showed a significant decrease of heart rate after cold stress which was not seen in the Yin tendency group. The Yang tendency group showed a decrease of LF, total power, and increase of HF after cold stress, while the Yin tendency group showed the opposite. However, there were no statistically significant differences of heart rate variability analysis between the results of the two groups before and after cold stress. Recovery time of blood flow velocity by ultrasound Doppler was significantly different between the Yin and Yang tendency groups after cold stress. Conclusion: These results suggest that people with Yin or Yang tendency may show different responses in the autonomic nervous system. Further modified studies may include the responses to various manipulation techniques in acupuncture treatment and the individual responses according to pattern identification in traditional Korean medicine.

  • The thesis presents a system that continuously collects the human body's physiological vital information at rest with sensors and ICT information technology and predicts diabetes using the collected information. it shows the artificial neural network machine learning method and essential basic variable values. The study method analyzed the correlation between heart rate measurements of BCG and ECG sensors in 20 DM- and 15 DM+ subjects. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) machine learning program was used to predictability of diabetes. The input variables are time domain information of HRV, heart rate, heart rate variability, respiration rate, stroke volume, minimum blood pressure, highest blood pressure, age, and sex. ANN machine learning prediction accuracy is 99.53%. Thesis needs continuous research such as diabetic prediction model by BMI information, predicting cardiac dysfunction, and sleep disorder analysis model using ANN machine learning.

  • Problem solving and/or decision making process usually encountered in human living consists of a sequence of human behaviors based upon his/her knowledge. Thus, Rasmussen introduced Skill-Rule-Knowledge paradigm to countermeasure human errors that can occur in Nuclear Power Plants. Unfortunately however, it was not so easy as expected since objective evidence have not been obtainable with conventional research techniques. With the help of EEG band pawer ratio techniques, this study tried to get psycho-physiological symptoms of human errors, if any, while human beings perform knowledge-based behaviors such as simple arithmetic computations with different difficulty level. A set of simulated works was carried out with a computer station. Four kinds of arithmetic computation tasks were given to 10 health male under-graduate students on different day individually, and during the experiment, EEG and ECG was measured continuously for objective psycho-physiological analysis. According to the results, ${\alpha}$/(${\alpha}+{\beta}$) as well as ${\alpha}/{\beta}$ band power ratio were sensitive to task difficulty level which consistently decreased both. However, any one of them failed to reveal the influence of tasks with different difficulty level in the aspect of task duration time. On the contrary, Heart Rate Variability was more suggestive than expected. To make a conclusion, it can be said that band power of EEG waves will be helpful in not only assessment of work difficulty level but also assessment of workers' skill development if supported by cardiac function such as HRV.

  • This study analyzed the changes in Electroencephalogram(EEG) and Electrocardiogram(ECG) depending on the healing environment in order to find a way to improve the forest healing program based on the healing environment in response to the demand for qualitative improvement of the program since the program is a charged service. This study selected eight sites running forest healing programs at four national healing forests (i.e., Saneum, Cheongtaesan, Daegwanryeng, and Jangseong) - two routes per national healing forest - considering forest environments. This study chose NUMBER standard sampling plots ($20{\times}20m$) and measured three atmospheric environment items, seven physical environment items, two soil environment items, and eight vegetation environment items including forest sound and anion at each plot to evaluate physiological changes in it. EEG and ECG, which have been widely used in forest healing evaluation, were utilized as criteria. Seventy three subjects were selected with taking the age, drug, caffeine, smoking, and the time of last meal into consideration. As a result, EEG changes were correlated with three atmospheric environment items, six physical environment items, one soil environment item, and two vegetation environment items. ECG changes were significantly correlated with two atmospheric environment items, six physical environment items, two soil environment items, and two vegetation environment items (p<.05). It is expected that 11 environmental factors such as temperature, density, and altitude affecting EEG (e.g., alpha balance and gamma balance) and ECG (e.g., HRV mean) could be used as effective tools in developing more differentiated programs for improving healing effects.
