Brian Ascalon Roley's American Son, one of the outstanding Filipino American novels after the LA riots, critically deals with a racial issue of his community which has been intermingled with the myth of model minority. Gabe and Thomas, considered as obedient Filipino younger immigrants, are asked to achieve the American dream as a way to place themselves at the center of the mainstream white society. However, they recognize that they cannot be accepted as a suitable subject for the invincible racism deeply rooted in the society. While Tomas refuses to become a model minority by identifying himself with the Mexican, Gabe is expected to become an idealistic subject of model minority by his mother since he complies with the rules of the mainstream society. However, he accepts his brother's violent way of life in that violence is necessary to protect his family from the racial discrimination in America. Though he is his mother's hope for model minority, he recognizes the only condition to achieve her expectation is the American society where there is no racism at all. However, by taking the case of Gabe and Thomas, Roley suggests that the younger generation of Filipino American immigrants have no choice but to accept violence to survive in the American society because racism always threatens their life.

이 논문에서는 조선 후기 사대부 시조에서 중요한 위치를 차지하는 황윤석 시조의 성격과 그 작품에 나타난 작가 의식을 논의했다. 사실을 제시하거나 교훈을 내리는 내용을 표현함으로써 황윤석 시조는 교술적 성격을 가지게 되었다. 사실의 중심 내용은 군주의 격려, 군주의 생일과 기일, 벼슬 제수 등 군은 관련 사항과 선산의 풍수적 빼어남, 선조의 훌륭한 행적, 가문의 아름다운 전통, 작가의 출생지, 태몽 등 집안 관련 사항들로 되어 있다. 교훈의 중심 내용은 유교 학문의 목적, 성선설의 입장, 인간 심성의 특성, 심성 수양의 방법 등 심성 수양 관련 사항과 오륜, 부부유별, 남녀유별 등 유교 실천 윤리 관련 사항들로 되어 있다. 황윤석은 시조에서 정치, 경제적으로 상승하려는 의식과 이념을 지향하는 의식을 표현했다. 정치적 참여의 기회를 부여한 군주에 대한 절대적 충성을 보이거나 치국이나 평천하의 준비를 갖춘 가문에 대한 자랑을 하는 과정에서 상승 지향적 의식을 드러냈고, 주로 유교 윤리의 철저한 실천이나 전통 성리학의 고수, 인물성동논의 주장으로 현실적 문제를 극복하고자 한데서 이념 지향 의식을 드러냈다. 정치ㆍ경제적 상승과 이념 지향적 작자 의식의 작용으로 작품은 교술적 성격을 상당 부분 가지게 되었고, 사실의 전달과 가르침의 제시라는 교술적 효과를 높이려는 과정에서 직설적 표현의 방법을 선택했다.

Opioids are the one of the most commonly used drugs to control cancer pain all over the world. But, we should not overlook the potential risk of opioid intoxication because they have well-known detrimental side effects. The opioid intoxication can be diagnosed thorough various clinical manifestations. The altered mental status, respiratory depression, and miosis is very representative clinical features although these symptoms don't always appear together. Unfortunately the opioid-toxidrome can be varied. A 42 years old man came to our emergency room after taking about 900 mg morphine sulfate per oral. He was nearly alert and his respiration was normal. Even though his symptoms didn't deteriorated clinically, serial arterial blood gas analysis showed increase in PaCO2. So we decided to use intravenous naloxone. Soon, he was fully awaked and his pupils size was increased. After a continuous infusion of intravenous naloxone for 2 hours, PaCO2 decreased to normal range and his pupil size also returned to normal after 12 hours. Though the levels of serum amylase and lipase increased slightly, his pancreas was normal according to the abdominal computed tomography. He had nausea, vomit, and whole body itching after naloxone continuous infusion, but conservatively treated. We stopped the continuos infusion after 1 day because his laboratory results and physical examinations showed normal. As this case shows, it is very important to prescribe naloxone initially. If you suspect opioid intoxication, we recommend the initial use of naloxone even though a patient has atypical clinical features. In addition, we suggest intranasal administration of naloxone as safe and effective alternative and it's necessary to consider nalmefene that has a longer duration for opioid intoxication.

UNGI(運氣) theory is one of the most important theory in Oriental medicine. But it's so difficult to adapt to real medic. Long time ago many Oriental Physicians disscussed this with other physicians, UNGI to Oriental Medicine, and so still now. Remarkably, it is important as a basic theory itself, UNGI exist as a special medic. We can see that in the book of ‘五運六氣韓醫學寶鑑’, ‘運氣演繹方藥篇’ and other such kind of books. The special thing is we can predict each man's disease through the date of his birth. And more, we can make out prescription for each person's health. In addition, by knowing his date of birth, we can calculate his date of pregnancy, and with the same way, we can also predict and prescript that he can be protected from his fateful disease. But, the way like this can make Oriental medic an astrology and a superstition. So I studied on this and concluded as follow, 1. UNGI theory is important in the Oriental Medicine not only in basic but on diagnosis and attendance. 2. Mechanical abuse in the past, make UNGI theory unbelievable. But Liu Ha-gan(劉河間) studied so deeply, and knew the right way to applicate UNGI theory on Oriental medic. 3. It is not logical the pregnant day counted thru birthday, so we have to percept this an abstract idea. And it founded detail way to count the pregnant day. 'UNGI' as a medical system, by knowing his birthday we can predict and prevent his fateful disease. Of course, I cannot find such substances in Neijing, and classic books on Oriental medicine. So queer at a glance, but clinically it has some valuable meanings. However, There's little to prove its foundation. It is similar to astrology, we cannot define its base. The problems we have to trace and find out.

16세기 후반과 17세기 전반에 활동했던 영국의 과학자이자 수학자인 Thomas Harriot은 대수기호를 독창적으로 만들어 사용하였고 일부는 오늘날에도 사용하고 있다. 또한 방정식에서 음수근 뿐만 아니라 복소수근도 받아들였는데 그의 이러한 관점은 당시로는 혁신적이었으며 나아가 방정식의 형태의 일반화에도 진일보한 모습을 보여주었다. 사후 유작 외에는 생전에 수학 저서가 한 권도 없는 탓에 Harriot 개인이나 그가 이루어 놓은 수학이 수학적 성취에 비하여 수학사나 수학교육에서 그에 대하여 소홀히 다루어진 감이 있다. 이 논문에서는 동시대 유명한 수학자였던 비에타와 데카르트의 대수기호와 방정식론을 비교함으로써 Harriot이 이루어놓은 수학을 알리고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data needed to examine the relationship between father and son by investigating correlations among male college students' perceptions of the degree of closeness to their fathers their fathers' paternal role and their own paternal role in the future. The subjects of this study were 474 male college students(sophomores juniors and seniors) from Seoul and Daegu. The questionaire the means of this research is composed of classified questions on related studies and on the researches of reference literatures, Statistical methods applied for data analysis were frequencies mean standard deviation Pearson's correlation. Major findings are as follows; 1) When a son perceives that he is on intimate terms with his father he perceives that his father performs paternal role well. Intimate relation between the father and the son can be considered essential to good performance of paternal role. 2)When a son perceives that he is on intimate terms w th his father he believes that he will perform his own paternal role will in the future. That is the son seems to accept his future paternal role positively as he feels close to his father. 3) Male college students who perceive their fathers' paternal role is properly performed tend to believe they will perform their own paternal role well in the future. Judging from the relation between fathers' performance of paternal role and sons' perception of thir future paternal role we can say good performance of paternal role is important is building up sons' affirmative perception of paternal role.

Purpose : N.A.P.(Neuromuscular Skeletal Plasticity) an integrative neuro-orthopedic concept to facilitate motor strategies in daily life. The primary thesis is, that treatment of body functions and structural impairments should be integrated within goal-oriented activities. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that the functional activity itself, determines the structure. Material and Methods : A case report of a dentist with brachial plexus lesion after a motor vehicle accident is presented. The necessity for training body functions within relevant tasks is undermined by references which emphasize the importance of training realistic activities to enhance long-term changes in neural representation. Results : The treatment methods presented in this case show significant effects for the patient's ability to participate in his profession within less than a year's time after his motor vehicle accident. Conclusions : Current evidence supports the treatment methods of this concept. The inability to flex his elbow and supinate his forearm placed a considerable doubt to his ability to ever be able to participate in his profession again. Structural reorganization is possible and depends on functional demands, which need to be trained task-specifically. Single case reports may serve as the basis for further randomized controlled studies to support the efficacy of the treatment methods within the N.A.P. concept.

The purpose of this paper is to examine Paul Auster's Leviathan according to Slavoj Žižek's theory. Analyzing the characters in Leviathan, this paper chiefly discusses the postmodern subject's anxiety and obsessive repetition that the lack of the big Other led to. Section II explains the disintegration of the big Other and the subject's anxiety and obsessive repetition by the interpretation of the characters: Peter Aaron, Maria Turner, and Benjamin Sachs. Aaron wants to write on Sachs's life to overcome his uneasy subject's condition, and to establish the consistent and whole world. But his writing fails to meet his desire, owing to uncertainty of his understanding, and the incompleteness of his writing. In case of Maria, her uneasy subject's condition led to her obsessively repetitive picture-shooting herself and others, which proved to be a meaningless struggle for filling the void of the big Other and herself. Although Sachs already knows the lack and inconsistency of the big Other, he also repetitively tries to establish the consistent and whole Other. In Section III, this paper examines Sachs's terror as he struggles for the preservation of the big Other. His extreme striving also fails to reestablish the big Other as it loses its symbolic effectiveness in the postmodern era because he does not grasp the big Other as an empty Symbolic order, and rejects the premise of the big Other itself.

근래 특급호텔을 중심으로 호텔정보시스템(Hotel Information System, HIS)의 도입과 활용이 활성화되고 있다. 이러한 HIS의 도입은 호텔경영에서 혁신적인 변화를 일으키고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 HIS의 성공요소에 대한 관심과 그에 대한 연구가 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 HIS에 대한 연구는 HIS 시스템의 도입 시점을 전제로 한 성공요인에 대한 연구에 집중되어 있다. 이는 HIS 시스템의 운용보다 도입에 관점을 둔 것으로, 시간 변화에 따른 요인의 중요도의 변화에 대한 설명이 부족하다. 이러한 관점에서 살펴보면, 호텔정보 시스템에 대한 포괄적인 성공요인을 도출한 후에 그 성공요인들의 시간에 따른 중요도 변화를 측정하기 위해서 호텔경영의 성공을 위한 HIS의 성공 요인의 성숙 시점을 예측하는 것은 매우 중요하다 하겠다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 E. M. Rogers[2]의 혁신이론을 기초하여 시간(Time)의 변화에 따른 HIS의 주요성공요인 (Critical Success Factors, CSFs)의 성숙 시점을 예측하였다. 본 연구를 위한 설문 조사는 2009년 1월 25일부터 3월 10일까지 전국 주요 호텔을 대상으로 각 호텔의 관리자 2명씩 선정하여 실시하였다. 회수 설문 중 유효 설문 84부의 응답을 연구에 활용하였으며 데이터 분석은 통계분석 패키지인 SPSS R10.1.3을 활용하였다. 설문 구성의 신뢰성을 측정하는 Cronbach ${\alpha}$ 값은 0.7239로 나타나 유의한 것으로 판단하였다.

소치 허련(小癡 許鍊,1808~893)은 조선 말기 대표적 남종 문인서화가이며 남도 문인화의 시조로, 초의선사와 추사 김정희의 문하에서 문인의 학문적 면모와 화원의 능숙한 화법을 모두 체득해 '사의화(寫意畵)'를 이룬 직업형 문인화가였다. 허련의 산수화는 그의 화격을 높이 산 김정희의 지도에 의해 형성되었으나, 추사 사후 그의 나이 70세경에 본격적으로 그리기 시작한 묵란화는 '추사란(秋史蘭)'의 양식과는 관련이 없고, 전체적으로는 고법(古法)을 따르면서도 거칠고 호방한 필치의 사의성을 띠고 있어 주목된다. 허련의 묵란화는 사군자류 중 화란법(畵蘭法)을 남길 만큼 관심을 가졌던 분야임에도 전체적인 작품의 조사나 분석이 이루어지지 않고 있다. 이에 본고에서는 화란법과 제발(題跋), 인문(印文)에 나타난 난화관(蘭畵觀)을 통해 그의 묵란화 인식을 살피고, 화보를 임방하고 당대 화풍을 수용하면서도 개성적인 필묵의 운용으로 형성된 소치란(小癡蘭)의 면모를 파악해보고자 한다. 특히 허련은 당시 묵란화의 대가인 이하응이나 조희룡과 화우(畵友)로 지내지만 난 그림에 있어서는 김정희의 난화론을 바탕으로 삼아 초기 지두란(指頭蘭)을 그리는 등 자신만의 화란법을 형성하고 예술세계를 구축한다. 또한 난화는 유가적 전고(典故)를 바탕으로 그리지만 제발과 인장의 내용을 통해서는 유가적 성격뿐만 아니라 도가 불가적 의미까지 더해져 허련의 인생 지향과 사유세계를 유추할 수 있다. 이러한 복합적이고 다양한 철학과 심미의식이 반영된 허련의 묵란화는 시기에 따라 변화 과정을 거치며 만년에 사의 묵란화를 형성한다. 즉 그는 직업형 화가였음에도 말년에 더욱 활발히 제작했던 사의란을 통해 조선 사대부의 이상에 더욱 가까이 다가가려 했음을 알 수 있고, 소치란은 문인의 표상을 실현하려는 사의적 시각과 의지의 발로였다는 것을 보여준다.
