Fluorometric determination of dl-Methylephedrine hydrochloride from complex preparation were studied. According to the experimental results and considerations obtained the results for the following. (1) dl-Methylephedrine hydrochloride in Hydrochloric acid media occurs the fluorescens by Picrolonic acid and Cuppric acetate. (2) The maximum absorption fluorescence wave length of dl-Methylephedrine hydrochloride standard solution is $365m{\mu}$. (3) The relationship between the fluorescence proportions to concentration of standard solution at range of $4.2{\times}10^{-4}\;M$. $6{\times}10^{-4}M$. (4) dl-Methylephedrine hydrochloride was precisely determined even in the presence of various components, especially Chloropheniramine maleate, Dextromethorphan hydrobromide and Diphenylhydramine hydrochloride. (5) This method has high sensitivity and is simple in precedure. (6) This method be applicable with 99.79% accuracy and was 99.5% in complex preparation.
Attempts were made to see if we could cut more pBR322 in the presence of ginseng saponin fraction in connection with possibly for shortening the enzymatic reaction time and the amount of the enzyme to be used. The following results were obtained restriction endonucleases such as AccI, XhoII, SaII, and HincII were observed to cut pBR322 efficiently at 10-1% ginseng saponin fraction. In case of BamHI, 10-2% ginseng saponin fraction was observed to the most effective concentration. Such cumulative results suggest that ginseng saponin fraction would play important role as far as the cleavage of pBR322 for short period by endonucleases is concerned.
Acetylcholinesterase reactivators are crucial antidotes for the treatment of organophosphate intoxication. Standard in vitro test was chosen using a rat brain homogenate as the source of AChE. Screening of reactivation potency was performed with two concentration of reactivator (1000 ${\mu}M$ and 10 ${\mu}M$). Results were compared to established reactivators pralidoxime, methoxime, HI-6, trimedoxime and obidoxime. More than 30 novel reactivators performed equal or better reactivation ability of POX-inhibited AChE compared to currently used reactivators. The structure-activity relationship for reactivators of paraoxon-inhibited AChE was developed.
Predispersed solvent extraction (PDSE) of succinic acid with Tri-n-octylamine (TOA) dissolved in 1-octanol from aqueous solutions of 50 g/L succinic acid was examined. It was found that the equilibrium data in PDSE was equal to that in conventional solvent extraction in spite of the lack of mechanical mixing in PDSE. The influence of salts on succinic acid extraction and the stability of colloidal liquid aphrons (CLAs) were also investigated. Results indicated that in the presence of sodium chloride, less succinic acid was extracted by CLAs and the stability of CLAs decreased. However, the stability of CLAs was sufficient to make PDSE practically applicable to real fermentation broth, considering the concentration range of salts in the fermentation process for succinic acid.

Andong Sikhe in Korea was prepared and fermented at 5$^{\circ}C$ and the taste and flavor compounds were evaluated. Major flavor components were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer as camphene, sabinene, 1-(1, 5-dimethyl-4-hexyl)-4-methyl-benzene, alpha-zingibirene, farnesene, 2, 6-bis(1, 1-dimethylethyl)-4-metethyl-phenol, beta-sesquiphellandrene, calalene, tetradecanoic acid, and 9, 12-octadecanoic acid. The concentration of nonvolatile organic acid such as lactic acid, oxalic acid and citric acid were 18.10mg/100g, 1.04mg/100g and 1.37mg/100g, respectively, and those of other nonvolatile organic acid were a little. The pH and acidity of Andong Sikhe were 4.06 and 0.32 during fermentation and storage.
Unknown bacterium isolated from garlic was characterized using phenotypic methods, phylogenetic analysis, DNA-DNA hybridization, and cultural methods. The strain was identified as typical leuconostoc; Gram-positive, non-sporeforming, heterofermentative, catalase-negative and spherical. Although its 16S rRNA gene sequence showed high homology to Leuconostoc argentinum DSM $8581^T$(99.8%), DNA-DNA hybridization experiments indicated it represents novel genomic species in the genus Leuconostoc. The garlic-specific leuconostoc was more resistant to antimicrobial activity of garlic compared to other common laboratory lactic acid bacteria, and was even stimulated by low concentrations (1-2%) of garlic extract supplemented in trypticase soy broth. Growth stimulation was concentration-dependent when tested with residual aqueous layer after solvent extraction of fresh whole garlic extract.

In this study, the models for a double-diffusive thermohaline system heated from below were developed and the governing equations were established taking account of the density variation with time. The six order Runge-Kutta method was used for the solution of the simultaneous governing differential equations and the temperature and salt concentration distributions and height of each layer within the system were predicted. As the result of this study, it was found that the predicted values with the convective layer growing proportionality constant of 0.18 showed a good agreement with available experimental data. It was also found that the effect of density change with time on the temperature profile in the bottom convective layer could not be negligible.
In this study, changes in the composition of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) were investigated using water samples collected at a downstream site of the Namhan River near the Lake Paldang ($N37^{\circ}24^{\prime}05.33^{{\prime}{\prime}}E127^{\circ}32^{\prime}25.01^{{\prime}{\prime}}$) during a heavy rain event from July 23 to July 28, 2008. The DOC concentrations varied from 1.68 to 3.18 mg/L with the maxium value at a peak of the river water level. Each DOC sample was fractionated into three compositions including hydrophilic (Hi), hydrophobic acid (HoA) and hydrophobic neutral (HoN) fractions. The results showed that HoA was most abundant fractions, constituting 47.2~56.5% of DOC. Refractory dissolved organic carbon (R-DOC) contents were also determined by measuring the DOC concentration after 28-day dark incubation of the samples. R-DOC content was in the range from 83 to 99% of DOC and it was significantly correlated with HoA contents (r = 0.91, p<0.005), while it did not exhibit such a good correlation with the fractions of Hi and HoN (p>0.02). Our results suggest that the HoA, which is associated with humic substances, may be a major composition of refractory organic matters in rivers during storm events.
We synthesized liquid crystalline polymers containing isosorbide group as a cholesteric derivative and methylene group for controlling the transition temperature to the liquid crystal phase. Effects of the concentration of the isosorbide group and the position of the methylene group on the properties of the liquid crystalline polymer were investigated. Among all the synthesized polymers, polymers (MnHI-x) with a methylene group in the main chain showed higher melting transition temperature and thermal stability than those (SnBI-x) with a methylene group in the side chain. All the synthesized polymers showed an enantiotropic liquid crystal phase. The polymers having 10 mol% isosorbide as a cholesteric liquid crystal phase derivative showed nematic phase, and those having 20 mol% or more isosorbide showed a cholesteric or chiral smectic phase. Thus, we can conclude that the isosorbide group plays a role as a cholesteric liquid crystal phase derivative.
As intellectual terror threats increase, we feel the limit in coping with those threats and the things we do are placing traditional X-ray machines & ETD and increasing aviation security staffs. In fact, even if air transportation system is the fast and most efficient transportation methods, it is true that there are many inconveniences to endure due to terror threats. In the name of security, even if we make a lot of efforts and time to screen both good-natured passengers, baggage, cargo and suspicious passengers, it is impossible to screen perfectly and it is not an efficient methods. Therefore, we introduce profiling system that reduce the effort to screen good-natured passengers but focus on screening dangerous passengers and baggages. Profiling system strengthens aviation security, using the concept "Selection & Concentration". Israel started to introduce manual profiling system in aviation security, which is interviewing suspicious passengers and it has been used in crime investigation since 1960. And it has been upgraded and diversified to CAPPS(Computer Assisted Passenger Screening Program) and SPOT(Screening Passenger by Observation). So, this theses is to study on the concept & kind of profiling and profiling methods adopted in airlines. Also it presents the method of introduction of profiling system in Korea and the necessity of making law on it.
