  • In this paper, we propose three compensation methods to solve problems in high-resolution airborne infrared camera and to improve long-range target information acquisition performance. First, image motion and temporal noise reduction technique which is caused by atmospheric turbulence. Second, thermal blurring image correction technique by imperfect performance of NUC(Non Uniformity Correction) or raising the internal temperature of the camera. Finally, DRC(Dynamic Range Compression) and flicker removing technique of 14bits HDR(High Dynamic Range) infrared image. Through this study, we designed techniques to improve the acquisition performance of long-range target information of high-resolution airborne infrared camera, and compared and analyzed the performance improvement result with implemented images.

  • Various approaches have been proposed to convert low dynamic range (LDR) to high dynamic range (HDR). Of these approaches, the Multi Scale Fusion (MSF) algorithm based on Laplacian pyramid decomposition is used in many applications and demonstrates its usefulness. However, the pyramid fusion technique has no means for controlling the luminance component because the total number of pixels decreases as the pyramid rises to the upper layer. In this paper, we extract the reflection light of the image based on the Retinex theory and generate the weight map by adjusting the reflection component. This weighting map is applied to achieve an MSF-like effect during image fusion and provides an opportunity to control the brightness components. Experimental results show that the proposed method maintains the total number of pixels and exhibits similar effects to the conventional method.

  • Pyramid fusion usually adjusts the Laplacian weights of pixels of the input images by evaluating predefined criteria. This has advantages that it can selectively express intense color and enhance the contrast when applied to HDR exposure fusion. But it may cause noise because the weights are determined by pixel importance without considering the interdependent pixel relationship that constitutes a scene. This paper proposes a fusion method using simple weight criteria generated from the gray pixel values, which is expected to preserve the interdependent relationship and improve execution speed. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method we examine a homogeneity measure, H and compare the execution time for both methods. The proposed method is found to be more advantageous with respect to homogeneity and execution speed.

  • Multivariate Confidence Region (MCR) cannot be used to obtain the confidence region of the mean vector of multivariate data when the normality assumption is not satisfied; however, the Quantile Confidence Region (QCR) could be used with a Multivariate Quantile Vector in these cases. The coverage rate of the QCR is better than MCR; however, it has a disadvantage because the QCR has a wide shape when the probability density function follows a bimodal form. In this study, we propose a Quantile Confidence Region using the Highest density (QCRHD) method with the Highest Density Region (HDR). The coverage rate of QCRHD was superior to MCR, but is found to be similar to QCR. The QCRHD is constructed as one region similar to QCR when the distance of the mean vector is close. When the distance of the mean vector is far, the QCR has one wide region, but the QCRHD has two smaller regions. Based on these features, it is found that the QCRHD can overcome the disadvantages of the QCR, which may have a wide shape.

  • The CRISPR system has revolutionized gene editing field. Cas9-mediated gene editing such as Indel induction or HDR enable targeted gene disruption or precise correction of mutation. Moreover, CRISPR-based new editing tools have been developed such as base editors. In this review, we focus on gene editing in human pluripotent stem cells, which is principal technique for gene correction therapy and disease modeling. Pluripotent stem cell-specific drug YM155 enabled selection of target gene-edited pluripotent stem cells. Also, we discussed base editing for treatment of congenital retina disease. Adenine base editor delivery as RNP form provide an approach for genetic disease treatment with safe and precise in vivo gene correction.

  • The mechanics underlying photon and electron interactions was validated using our developed Brachytherapy computer code for high Dose Rate (HDR). By comparing the photon cross-section utilizing multiple physics libraries in the developed code, the results were benchmarked against experimental and theoretical findings. Klein-Nishina and experimental cross-section results were in good agreement with the Livermore library results. For two therapeutically relevant materials, the first scattered electron range was measured within 1 mm and 2 mm, which has significant implications for the interpretation of the kernel dose spikes observed in previous research.

  • Background: For brachytherapy of cervical cancer, applicator shifts can not be avoided. The present investigation concerned Utrecht interstitial applicator shifts and their effects on organ movement and DVH parameters during 3D CT-based HDR brachytherapy of cervical cancer. Materials and Methods: After the applicator being implanted, CT imaging was achieved for oncologist contouring CTVhr, CTVir, and OAR, including bladder, rectum, sigmoid colon and small intestines. After the treatment, CT imaging was repeated to determine applicator shifts and OARs movements. Two CT images were matched by pelvic structures. In both imaging results, we defined the tandem by the tip and the base as the marker point, and evaluated applicator shift, including X, Y and Z. Based on the repeated CT imaging, oncologist contoured the target volume and OARs again. We combined the treatment plan with the repeated CT imaging and evaluated the change range for the doses of CTVhr D90, D2cc of OARs. Results: The average applicator shift was -0.16 mm to 0.10 mm for X, 1.49 mm to 2.14 mm for Y, and 1.9 mm to 2.3 mm for Z. The change of average physical doses and EQD2 values in Gy${\alpha}/{\beta}$ range for CTVhr D90 decreased by 2.55 % and 3.5 %, bladder D2cc decreased by 5.94 % and 8.77 %, rectum D2cc decreased by 2.94 % and 4 %, sigmoid colon D2cc decreased by 3.38 % and 3.72 %, and small intestines D2cc increased by 3.72 % and 10.94 %. Conclusions: Applicator shifts and DVH parameter changes induced the total dose inaccurately and could not be ignored. The doses of target volume and OARs varied inevitably.
