The present study was performed to evaluate the effect of tetracycline - HCl on the change of implant surface microstructure according to application time. Implants with pure titanium machined surface and titanium plasma-sprayed surface were utilized. Implant surface was rubbed with 50mg/ml tetracycline - HCl solution for 1 min., $1\frac{1}{2}\;min$., 2 min., $2\frac{1}{2}\;min$. and 3min. respectively in the test group and with saline for 1 min. in the control group. Then, the specimens were processed for scanning electron microscopic observation. The following results were obtained. 1. Pure titanium machined surfaces conditioned with saline for 1 min., showed a few shallow grooves and ridges and were less irregular. 2. Pure titanium machined surfaces conditioned with 50mg/ml tetracycline - HCl solution showed more irregular and corrosive surfaces compared to the control group irrespective of the application time of tetracycline - HCl solution. 3. Titanium plasma-sprayed surfaces conditioned with saline for 1 min., were deposited with round amorphous particles and showed round or irregular pores that can be connected to each other. 4. The irregularity of titanium plasma-sprayed surfaces conditioned with 50mg/ml tetracycline - HCl solution was lessened and the flattened areas were wider relative to the application time of tetracycline - HCl solution. 5. Titanium plasma-sprayed surfaces conditioned with tetracycline - HCl solution for 1 min. and $1\frac{1}{2}\;min$. were very similar to that of the control group, but the surfaces conditioned for 2 min., $2\frac{1}{2}\; min$. and 3 min. were changed. In conclusion, pure titanium machined surfaces were changed irrespective of the application time of tetracycline - HCl solution. And titanium plasma-sprayed surfaces conditioned with tetracycline - HCl solution began to be changed from $1\frac{1}{2}\;min$. This results will be applicable to the regenerative procedures for peri-implantitis treatment.
Chemical equilbria of nickel chloride in HCl solution at $25\;{^{\circ}C}$ were analyzed by considering chemical equilibria, mass and charge balance equations. The activity coefficients of solutes were calculated by using Bromley equation. The necessary thermodynamic properties, such as the equilibrium constant for the formation of Ni$Cl^+$ at zero ionic strength and interaction parameter, were evaluated by applying Bromley equation to the stability constant data reported in the literature. It was found that most nickel exists as $Ni^{2+}$ in HCl solution up to 5 molality HCl. The pH values of Ni$Cl_2-HCl-H_2O$ system at $25\;{^{\circ}C}$ calculated in this study agreed well with the pH values measured by employing pH meter.

Wet etching of α-Ga2O3 epitaxy film was performed using a 35 % hydrochloric (HCl) acid solution. As the temperature of the 35 % HCl solution increased, the α-Ga2O3 etch rate increased, and the etch rate of 119.6 nm/min was obtained at 75℃, the highest temperature examined in this work. The activation energy for etch reaction was determined to be 0.776 eV, and this suggests that the wet etching of α-Ga2O3 in the 35 % HCl solution was dominated by the reaction-limited mechanism. AFM analysis showed that the surface roughness of the etched surface increased as the temperature of the etchant solution increased.
Microcapsule of Propranolol HCl with Cellulose Acetate Phthalate (CAP) by coacervation-phase separation method was studied. Encapsulation was carried out in the CAP-liquid paraffin-acetone ethanol solvent system. The optimum weight ratio for microencapsulation in the CAP-liquid paraffin-solvent system was 1.32:89.18:9.50 or 1.65:89.42:8.93. The wall thickness of microcapsules increased according to increasing of CAP concentration, but dissolution rate decreased. The dissolution of propranolol-HCl in simulated gastric and intestinal fluid test solution was completed within 3 min., but T50% of propranolol HCl from 10.0% CAP-microcapsules were 390 min. and 210 min. respectively. The released amount from 12.5% CAP-microcapsules was 41.8% within 720 min. in simulatd gastric fluid test solution and T50% of those in simulated intestinal fluid test solution was 250 min.
LIX 63 showed a selectivity for the extraction of Pd(II) over other PGMs, such as Pt(IV), Ir(IV) and Rh(III) from 6 M HCl solution. Moreover, HCl solution has significant effect on the oxidation-reduction reaction between Ir(IV) and LIX 63. Therefore, the applicability of employing LIX 63 for the separation of the 4 PGMs was investigated from 3 M HCl solution. From 3 M HCl solution, only Pd(II) was selectively extracted by LIX 63 and its extraction percentage was higher than from 6 M HCl solution. Extraction of the Pd(II) free raffinate with TBP led to the selective extraction of Pt(IV). After oxidation of Ir(III) with $NaClO_3$ to Ir(IV), extraction of the Pt(IV) free raffinate with Aliquat 336 selectively extracted Ir(IV). For each extraction step, optimum stripping conditions were obtained. By this process, it was possible to separate the 4 PGMs by solvent extraction from 3 M HCl solution.
Corrosion inhibition efficiencies of holy basil on Al in HCl solution were studied by weight loss and thermometric methods in presence and in absence of stem extract of three different varieties of holy basil viz. ocimum basilicum ($E_B$), ocimum canum ($E_C$) and ocimum sanctum ($E_S$). Inhibition efficiency increases with the increasing concentration of stem extract and decreases with increases in acid strength. Results show that all varieties under study are good corrosion inhibitors, among which, $E_B$ is most effective. Maximum inhibition efficiency was found 97.09% in 0.5N HCl solution with 0.6% stem extract. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm indicates that surface coverage also increases with increasing in the concentration of extract of stem in HCl solution.
Slope analysis method was applied to determine the stoichiometry of the solvent extraction reaction of Ni(II) by Alamine336 from strong HCl solution range from 1 to 10 M. Solvent extraction data was obtained from the literature. The effective equilibrium constant for the solvent extraction reaction was estimated by considering the ionic equilibria of $NiCl_2$ in the HCl solution. The measured distribution coefficients of Ni(II) agreed well with those calculated in this study. Our results suggest that further study on the measurement of the activities of nickel complexes at high HCl solution need to be done.
The separation of In from the synthesis solution with Ga, Fe, and Al has been studied by the solvent extraction using D2EHPA as an extractant. The effects as a function of the concentration of extractant and HCl on the extraction of In were investigated. The extraction of In and Ga increased with decreasing HCl concentration, but that of Fe and Al was independent. Separation factor between In and Ga of 115 was obtained at 1.0 M D2EHPA in the presence of 0.5 M HCl of feed solution. Consequently, this study shows that D2EHPA is suitable extractant for In extraction from the synthesis solution. Extraction efficiency and separation factor could be increased by controlling HCl and extractant concentration.

In order to optimize gold leaching from refractory sulfide concentrate, a HCl-NaClO-$FeCl_3$ solution with varying attributes was applied to the roasted concentrate from Uil mine. The gold from Uil mine occurs in the form of invisible gold that is difficult to leach. The results of the gold leaching experiments showed that the best gold leaching parameters were $550^{\circ}C$ of roasting temperature, 2.0 M of concentration, 1.0% of pulp density, and $70^{\circ}C$ of leaching temperature. It is confirmed that the HCl-NaClO-$FeCl_3$ solution was an environmentally friendly method to leach gold and silver from the refractory sulfide concentrate as an alternative lixiviant to cyanide.
Inhibition effects of alanine (Ala), histidine (His), methionine (Met) on the corrosion of aluminum were investigated in deaerated 0.5 M HCl and NaCl solution. In HCl solution the inhibition efficiency for the aluminum corrosion depended on the cathodic inhibition, and the inhibition efficiency was increased in the order of Met$10^{-4\;}M$ the adsorption process can be explained by Langmuir isotherm, however, in the case of higher concentration by Temkin logarithmic isotherm due to the interaction between the adsorbed molecules.
