  • Scientific research is mostly published in English, regardless of the researcher's nationality. However, this growing practice impairs or hinders the comprehension of professionals who depend on the results of these studies to provide adequate care for their patients. We suggest that machine translation (MT) can be used as a way of providing useful translation for biomedical articles, even though the translation itself may not be fluent. To tackle possible mistranslation that can harm a patient, we resort to crowd-sourced validation of translations. We developed a prototype of MT validation and edition, where users can vote for that translation as valid, or suggest modifications (i.e., post-editing the MT). A glossary match system is also included, aiming at terminology consistency.

  • There are many clinical trials where a large portion of the patients are cured of disease. In such a case, one might be more interested in testing the differences in cure rates rather than other types of differences in failure distribution. For ethical and economic reasons, clinical trials must be repeatedly monitored for evidence of treatment benefit or harm. In this article, we examined by simulation the properties of nonparametric group sequential methods for comparing the cure rates between two treatment groups during the trial in a wide range of alternatives, censoring rates and cure rates.

  • Recently, as the industrial structure tends to become large, the thickness of structural plate becomes thicker. Therefore, the thicker the plate of welded structure is, the larger the shape of welded joint. The effect of large heat input makes large heat affected zone(HAZ). These bring to complict welding residual stress and to weaken material, which may cause extremely harm to the safety of structures. Nevertheless, welding is design is regulated by the KS, JIS or standard in the resister of shipping such as KR, ABS or LR. However, these rules are based on rather experimental than theoretical. In this study, the computer program of heat conduction, considering un-steady state and quasi-steady state, is developed for optimizing(minimizing) a shape of welded joint. The characteristics of heat on the welded joints with various shapes are clarified by the results of the analyses.

  • Such Hinterland in New Busan-Jinhae Port are so placed as to do harm to their surrounding residential areas due to traffic, noise and dirt, etc. according to the current plan. So they are likely to fail to serve as harbors and residential districts. Because this is responsible for a conflict between harbors and urban functions, plans for the use of such areas should be well planned enough to achieve win-win results by getting rid of a conflict between the harbors and urban functions by creating manufactural and industrial complexes and green parks close to harbor logistics, by consolidating the functions of the cities through exchanges, commercial business and educational facilities and by adding comfort facilities at the hinterland of Ungdong and Myeongji.

  • Nowdays, adjacent loading bringing enormous harm to the existing bridge in engineering construction. In this paper, the influencing mechanism of adjacent loading to pier and Law of displacement of pier is researched through living examples, and the safe influence area has been defined. Research shows that: the main damages to piers is caused by the side loading; lateral displacement index of pier top surface is more conservative than the pier additional stress index; it is secure when the distance of adjacent load is 0.5 times of the height of accumulation or 6m, otherwise it would be very scary, and the monitoring measure is necessary.

  • Assessment of noise exposed population is a method for checking the degree of environmental noise and social influence in order to reduce the risks such as annoyance and disturbance that are generated by environmental noise. Also, this method suggests the preferential noise reduction policy and action plan by accurately assessing the area that noise causes harm to human health. Recently, a noise map, which can predict noise in comprehensive areas, is used for the assessment of noise exposed population, breaking from the methods using existing measures. In particular, countermeasure for the noise can be considered more effectively by using assessment methods of noise exposed population for specific noise levels, areas, and building types which are the main input factors in noise maps. In this study, Assessment methods of noise exposed population by using 2D noise map are compared with those by 3D noise map.

  • Software Architecture for any given software system is its skeletal framework. That is to say that if this framework does not properly support the system then it would cause more harm than good. Accordingly it is our opinion that choosing the right architecture to realize this framework is a crucial part in creating a successful system. This report discusses a comparative method which utilizes the steps in ATAM to realize architectural decisions and more importantly aide in architectural selection that promotes system success.

  • This study examined the levels of consumers' non-ethical behaviors in the marketplace and the factors affecting each category of them. The data were collected from 222 adults in Busan and Gyeongnam areas through a self-administered questionnaire. Frequencies, Cronbach's alpha, Pearson's correlation analysis and multiple regression analyses were conducted by SPSS Windows. The results from this study were as follows: First, respondents showed the highest level of non-ethical behavior in the no harm/no foul category, while the lowest level in the actively benefiting from questionable behavior category. Second, as the results of multiple regression analyses, age was significant in all categories of non-ethical behaviors. In addition, religion, consumer knowledge and consumer role attitudes were found to be significant in some categories. These results imply that the consumer ethics should be included in the consumer education for more effective consumer behaviors of young generation.

  • Wanghogo(王好古) is a prominent doctor in Geum-Won(金元) Dynasty. He is also the inheritor of Jangwonso(張元素) and Igo(李杲) in study, and studied "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", "Sanghallon(傷寒論)". So, he contributed to a later age. Although we have some researches of Wanghogo, but the researches in his books are insufficient as yet. More, the publication year of his books have some different views, so I tried to study this. By this study, We can understand that Wanghogo published "Uiruwonyung(醫壘元戎)" which is for exogenous febrile disease and miscellaneous diseases in general plan of twelve meridians in 1297, "Eumjeung-yangnye(陰證略例)" which is for harm and diagnosis and treatment of Eum syndromes of exogenous febrile disease in 1303, and "Tang-aekboncho(湯液本草)" which is for property and flavor and meridian tropism of Herb and five kind of flavor's tonification and reduction, the meaning of prescription, care of health by food, "Chasananji(此事難知)" which is for meridian, Jangbu(臟腑), pathology, pathogen, clinical distinction, medical care in 1308.

  • While large-sized facilities (type I II) have been managed systematically after the establishment of the Special Law for Safety Management on Facility, the management of small-sized facilities is relatively poor. The small-sized facilities have been managed by The Basic Law for Disaster and Safety Management, however, it is hard to manage them systematically as related standards are not established. Therefore, this study proposed the management plans for including the facilities such as some road tunnels and utility tunnels, which have the definite manager and a high possibility to harm the public, into type I and II facilities. In addition, it proposed the reinforcement plans of safety management for small-sized and vulnerable facilities such as breast wall and cut slopes, traditional markets and pedestrian bridges, which are fundamental facilities closely related to people's life, although a budget and a man-power are not enough.
