염소주입량과 반응시간에 따른 HAAs 생성과 고도산화처리에 의한 전구물질 제거 영향 (HAAs Formation by Chlorine Dose and Reaction Time and The Removal Effect of Precursors by The Advanced Oxidation Processes)

  • This study investigated the effect of chlorine dose and chlorine reaction time for the formation of haloacetic acids (HAAs). According to the results, HAA formation was highly affected by chlorine dose and chlorine reaction time. HAA formation reached a plateau value at 30 mg/L of chlorine dose and 24 hr of chlorine reaction time. For the speciation of formed HAAs in the test water, the concentration of brominated-HAAs was significantly lower than that of chlorinated-HAAs because of low level of bromide ion concentration in the test water. It also investigated the removal efficiency of HAA precursors by several unit processes, such as ozone alone, UV alone, and combined ozone/UV system. Of them, ozone/UV system was proved as the best process to control the HAAs formation. The increase of the brominated-HAAs was observed during ozonation with and without UV irradiation showing the slight increase of total HAA concentrations.

A Case of Ruptured Mycotic Hepatic Artery Aneurysm Successfully Treated Using Arterial Embolization

  • Mycotic hepatic artery aneurysms (HAAs) have become very rare due to antibiotics. Untreated, they have a high possibility of rupture and mortality. In this paper, on the case of a 67-year-old male who had severe right-upper-quadrant abdominal pain and a history of infective endocarditis is reported. The computed tomography (CT) and arterial angiography findings led to a diagnosis of a ruptured mycotic HAA. The CT showed an HAA and the formation of an intrahepatic hematoma caused by aneurysmal rupture. The arterial angiography showed a mycotic HAA that arose from the right posterior hepatic artery. Percutaneous transcatheter arterial embolization was used to successfully treat the HAA. Since then, the patient has been doing well, without symptoms.

D 정수처리장에서 소독부산물 발생 및 종분포 특성 (The Characteristics of Disinfection by-products Occurrence and Speciation in D Water Treatment Processes)

  • Concentrations and speciations of Trihalomethanes (THMs) and Haloacetic acids ($HAA_5$) that can be formed during chlorine disinfection by-product (DBPs) in full-scale drinking water treatment plants were investigated. Jeon-ju D water treatment plant that adopted conventional water treatment processes was chosen for investigation. SUVA values according to water treatment process changes were observed from 1.3 to 2.1. The process average concentrations of THMs was 7.4 ppb, 9.0 ppb and 14.7 ppb respectively, while the average concentrations of $HAA_5$ by each process which are precipitation water, filterater water, treated water, were 15.5 ppb, 14.9 ppb and 25.8 ppb respectively. DBPs concentrations was lower in the winter than summer. The major species of THMs was chloroform and the second highest was bromodichloromethane (BDCM) and the third highest was dibromochloromethane (DBCM). In case of $HAA_5$, the rate of trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) was detected. The species disribution of THMs is related to the change of SUVA and species disribution of $HAA_5$ is related to the concentrations of bromine and injection position of chlorine and injection quantity.

  • 국내 정수장에서 염소소독시 발생하는 소독부산물인 트리할로메탄(THMs), 할로아세틱에시드(HAAs)의 발생농도와 각각의 종별 분포현황을 조사하였다. 조사대상은 일반적인 정수처리공정으로 구성된 한강, 금강, 섬진강, 낙동강 수계의 1개 정수장씩 총 4개소였다. THMs의 발생농도는 평균 26.9 ppb, 최대 46.7 ppb, 최소 11.0 ppb였으며, $HAA_5$의 발생농도는 평균 25.4 ppb, 최대 57.1 ppb, 최소 9.7 ppb였다. 계절적으로는 동절기에 농도가 낮았고 하절기에 높았다. THMs의 종별 분포를 조사한 결과 클로로포름의 비율이 평균 77%로 가장 높았고 다음으로는 브로모디클로로메탄(20%)이 높게 검출되었으며, 브로모포름의 농도는 정량한계 미만이었다. $HAA_5$의 경우 디클로로아세틱에시드(DCAA)와 트리클로로아세틱에시드(TCAA)의 합이 $HAA_5$의 97%를 차지하는 것으로 조사되었다. 그러나 한강수계의 경우는 이 비율이 평균 90%로 다소 낮았으며, 특히 겨울철에 비율이 가장 낮았다. 한편, 하절기를 제외하고는 DCAA가 TCAA보다 높은 것으로 조사되었다.

Influence of Food Ingredients on the Formation of Heterocyclic Aromatic Amine in Cooked Pork Patties

  • The effects of cooking method, cooking time and various food ingredients on the formation/ inhibition of heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs) in pork products were investigated. Three HAAs, 2-amino-3,8-dimethylimidazo [4,5-f] quinoxaline ($MeIQ_x$), 2-amino-3,4,8-trimethylimidazo [4,5-f] quinoxaline ($DiMeIQ_x$) and 2-amino-1-methyl-6-phenylimidazo [4,5-b] pyridine (PhIP) were measured in pork products using solid-phase extraction and HPLC. Pork patties were boiled, oven-broiled and pan-fried to internal temperatures of 71, 77 and $88^{\circ}C$. Generally, HAA concentrations increased with increasing internal temperature, and HAA formation was greatest with pan-fried. Selected food ingredients (vitamin E, sodium nitrite, sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium ascorbate, Nanking cherry tissue and cherry tissue extract) inhibited HAA formation in pork patties fried at $225^{\circ}C$ for 10 min/side, with the greater inhibition provided by cherry tissue and its methanolic extract.

Influence of Commercial Marinades on Heterocyclic Aromatic Amine Formation and Overall Mutagenicity in Fried Beef Steak

  • The effects of commercial marinades were evaluated for their influence on heterocyclic aromatic amine (HAA) formation and overall mutagenicity in fried beef steaks. Three different commercial marinades A, B, and C tested individually reduced the total HAA formation in fried beef steaks by 44, 38, and 40%, respectively. Three different commercial marinades were also effective in reducing the overall mutagenicity in fried beef steaks. There was, however, no significant difference in the inhibition achieved with three different commercial marinades. Reduction of overall mutagenicity was related to the decrease in HAA formation in fried beef steaks.

  • Microcystis sp.의 부패과정에서 수중으로 용출되는 AOM 특성과 염소 이들에서의 disinfection by-products (DBPs) 생성특성을 조사하였다. 수중으로 용출된 EOM과 cell + IOM에서의 염소 DBPs 생성특성을 조사한 결과, EOM은 보관기간 초기부터 지속적으로 증가하였으나 cell + IOM의 경우는 급격한 감소경향을 나타내었으며, 생성된 DBPs 중 HAAFP가 가장 높은 생성비율을 나타내었다. 또한, 이 때의 DBP 구성종들의 변화를 살펴본 결과, HAA 구성종들의 경우는 EOM에서는 di-HAA 구성종들의 비율은 점점 감소하였고 tri-HAA 구성종들의 비율은 점점 증가하였다. 그러나 cell + IOM의 경우는 EOM의 경우와는 반대 경향을 나타내었다. 또한, HAN 구성종들의 경우는 EOM과 cell + IOM 모두 di-HAN 구성종들의 생성비율이 월등히 높았다.

고도정수처리를 위한 HCPAC-MBR 공정에서의 소독부산물 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study on Removal of Disinfection By-products in High Concentration Powdered Activated Carbon Membrane Bio-reactor Process for Advanced Water Treatment)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of a membrane bioreactor filled with high concentration of powdered activated carbon (HCPAC-MBR) to reduce DBPs at the drinking water treatment. The pilot system was installed after the rapid sand filtration process whose plant was the conventional treatment process. The removal efficiencies of DBPs were measured during pilot operation period of 2 years. HAA and THM removal rates could be maintained around 80~90% without any troubles and then tremendous reduction of HAA and THM reactivity were observed more than 52%. The average removal rate of HAA formation potential (FP) and THM formation potential (FP) were 70.5% and 67.6% respectively. It is clear that the PAC membrane bioreactor is highly applicable for advanced water treatment to control DBPs.

일본 결혼이민 여성의 전통복식 문화적응태도 및 착용실태 (Culture Adaptive Attitudes and Donning Practices of Traditional Dress Among Japanese Marriage Immigrant Women)

  • This study explored culture adaptive attitudes and traditional dress donning practices among Japanese women who immigrated to Korea after marrying Korean men. Quantitative research was conducted on Korean-Japanese multicultural families. Participants were 233 married women who emigrated from Japan to Korea currently living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The data was analyzed using frequency analysis, t-test and correlation analysis. The findings were as follows: First, a positive relationship was found between Hanbok acceptance attitudes(HAA) and Kimono transmission attitudes(KTA). Both HAA and KTA had a positive relationship with ethnic identity. 43.3% of the respondents thought that they belonged both to Korean and Japanese ethnicity, 30.5% to Korean ethnicity, and 26.2% to Japanese ethnicity. Similar tendency (64.8% to bicultural identity, 31.3% to Korean, and 3.9% to Japanese) was found in the ethnic orientation towards their children. Both HAA and KTA had no difference in accordance with nationality, education and income level. Second, 70.4% of women had no experience of wearing Hanbok, and 90.1% had no experience of wearing Kimono. The women mostly wore Hanbok and Kimono for social events and family weddings.

Dynamic Response Measurement of the Head Arm Assembly of a Hard Disk Drive by Numerical Analysis and Experiments

  • The dynamic response of the head arm assembly (HAA) of a hard disk drive to an impact load was obtained from a 3D non-linear finite element model using ANSYS/LS-DYNA and from experiments using a modified levitation mass method (LMM). In the finite element model, the impact load was created by modeling the mass as a rigid body and making it collide with the HAA. The velocity, displacement, acceleration, and inertial force of the mass were then obtained from the time history data of the finite element analysis. In the LMM, a mass that was levitated with an aerostatic linear bearing, and hence encountered negligible friction, was made to collide with the actuator arm, resulting in a dynamic bending test for the arm. During the collision, the Doppler frequency shift of the laser beam reflected from the mass was accurately measured with an optical interferometer. The velocity, displacement, acceleration, and inertial force of the mass were accurately calculated from the measured time-varying Doppler frequency shift. A good correlation between the experimental data and FEA results was observed. The FEA was also used to investigate the dynamic response of the HAA to impact by different masses.
