고속회전 아크센서를 이용한 필렛 용접선 추적에 관한 연구 (A Study on Seam Tracking for Fillet Welding using High Speed Rotating Arc Sensor)

  • In this paper, a high speed rotating arc sensor for automatic fillet welding is introduced. In order to track the welding seam, The high speed rotating arc sensor is used. The welding tip of a high speed rotating arc sensor rotates about 3000 rpm using DC motor. The rotating torch is driven by gear between welding torch body and wire guide. The welding current is measured by using the current sensor and rot at ing position sensor. To realize the welding seam tracking algorithm with accuracy, a software filter algorithm using the moving average method is applied to the measured welding current in the microprocessor. The welding mobile robot with two wheels and two sliders is developed for fillet welding. The welding mobile robot can control its traveling direction and turn itself around the corner. The effectiveness is proven through the experimental results conducted with varied fillet tracking patterns.

  • High-speed traction has voltage source variation because the electric power of tractions is supplied by difference traction power system according to operating section. This paper proposes the robust control maintaining constant output performance against voltage source variation for PWM converters of the high speed traction. The proposed scheme consists of feed-forward compensation for current controller by on-line calculating the rms voltage of voltage source. Total dynamic performance of high speed traction can be improved by the reduction of the output voltage ripple which is resulted from voltage source sag and variation. The superior performance and validity of the proposed scheme is proved through the simulation.

An FPGA Design of High-Speed Turbo Decoder

  • In this paper, we propose a high-speed turbo decoding algorithm and present results of its implementation. The latency caused by (de)interleaving and iterative decoding in conventional MAP turbo decoder can be dramatically reduced with the proposed scheme. The main cause of the time reduction is to use radix-4, center to top, and parallel decoding algorithm. The reduced latency makes it possible to use turbo decoder as a FEC scheme in the real-time wireless communication services. However the proposed scheme costs slight degradation in BER performance because the effective interleaver size in radix-4 is reduced to an half of that in conventional method. To ensure the time reduction, we implemented the proposed scheme on a FPGA chip and compared with conventional one in terms of decoding speed. The decoding speed of the proposed scheme is faster than conventional one at least by 5 times for a single iteration of turbo decoding.

금속결합제 연삭 숫돌의 ELID 전해속도 자동 조절장치 개발 (Development of Auto-Control Power Supply of ELID Electrolysis Speed for Metal-Bonded Grinding Wheel)

  • ELID grinding is an excellent technique for the mirror grinding of the variety of the advanced metallic or nonmetallic materials. The focus of this study is the development of an automatic-control electrolysis-speed device for the automation of the ELID-grinding process. For the development of the automatic-control electrolysis-speed device, analysis experiments regarding the ELID cycle and oxide-layer removal and creation were conducted according to a truing and dressing process. Also, a comparative experiment was conducted to confirm the variance of the electrolysis speed in accordance with changes of the voltage. The experiment results for the developed automatic-control electrolysis-speed device show that the developed device could control the electrolysis speed according to voltage changes through the use of the data that are monitored during the ELID-grinding process.

A New Approach to Sensorless Control Method for Brushless DC Motors

  • This paper proposes a new position sensorless drive for brushless DC (BLDC) motors. Typical sensorless control methods such as the scheme with the back-EMF detection method show high performance only at a high speed range because the magnitude of the back-EMF is dependent upon the rotor speed. This paper presents a new solution that estimates the rotor position by using an unknown input observer over a full speed range. In the proposed method, a trapezoidal back-EMF is modelled as an unknown input and the proposed unknown input observer estimating a line-to-line back-EMF in real time makes it possible to detect the rotor position. In particular, this observer has high performance at a low speed range in that the information of a rotor position is calculated independently of the rotor speed without an additional circuit or complicated operation process. Simulations and experiments have been carried out for the verification of the proposed control scheme.

압전 액추에이터를 이용한 에너지 수확 (Electric energy harvesting using piezoelectric actuator driven by geared motor)

  • This paper presents the possibility of the electric energy harvesting using piezoelectric actuator which is operated by geared motor. The geared motor consisting of oval shape cam and speed controller was operated in the range of 40${\sim}$172rpm. The PZT actuator of $36L{\times}13W{\times}0.6H$ was used for energy harvesting and the results of the theoretical model were verified by comparing it with the measured response of a experimental setup. Experimental study for obtaining the optimal operating conditions, such as displacement variation of the PZT actuator and motor speed variation, was achieved. A power of 0.02mW at the geared motor speed of 172rpm and the PZT actuator maximum displacement of $500{\mu}m$ was measured. In this study, it was confirmed that the wind power can be used for MEMS based sensor operating and windmill health monitoring one.
