산성 전해수가 콩나물의 생육에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Electrolyzed Acidic Water on the Growth of Soybean Sprout.)

  • 산성 전해수를 이용하여 콩나물을 생육시켰을 때 콩나물 관련 주요형질들의 반응을 조사하여 콩나물 재배수로 사용 가능성을 검토하였다. 산성전해수로 생육시킨 콩나물은 전체길이,뿌리길이, 하배축 길이 등이 짧아졌고, 하배축의 두께, 콩나물 개체당 무게 등은 늘어 난 것으로 평가되었다. 하배축 횡단면 관찰에서 산성전해수에서 자란 콩나물의 하배축내 세포가 대조구에 비해 커져 하배축의 두께가 두꺼워진 것으로 평가되었으며, 생육일수별 콩나물 주요 특성에서 콩나물 전체길이는 산성전해수에서 자란 콩나물의 전체 길이가 더 짧았으며, 수돗물에서 자란 콩나물은 생육 후 5일째 이후에 급격히 길이 신장을 하였으나 전해수에서 자란 콩나물은 길이 신장은 거의 변화가 없었다. 하배축의 신장은 콩나물 전체길이와 같은 경향을 보였는데 생육 후 5일째에는 품종간 신장의 차이가 관찰되었다. 뿌리 생육 특성은 전해수에서 생육시킨 콩나물은 생육 4일째에서 11일째까지 뿌리 길이의 차이가 없었으나 수돗물에서 생육시킨 콩나물의 뿌리길이는 생육일수가 증가함에 따라 급격하게 신장을 보였다. 하배축의 두께는 산성전해수에서 생육시킨 콩나물이 수돗물에서 생육시킨 콩나물보다 더 두꺼웠는데 생육 후 5일째까지 두께가 증가하다가 생육 후 5일째 이후부터 다소 감소하였으며, 콩나물 자엽의 무게는 산성전해수에서 생육시킨 콩나물의 자엽무게가 생육일수가 증가할수록 현저하게 증가하였으나 수돗물에서 생육시킨 콩나물은 생육 후 7일째까지는 거의 변화를 보이지 않았다. 콩나물의 생체중은 전해수에서 생육시킨 콩나물이 재배 후 7일 까지는 무거웠으나 11일째는 산성전해수와 수돗물에서 자른 콩나물의 생체중이 거의 비슷하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 용접성이 좋고 강도도 적당하며 부식에 대한 저항성이 좋아 해 양구조물 및 용접구조용재로서 널리 사용되고 있는 5083-H113 Al 합금을 준비하고 이 재료의 균열형태에 따른 피로균열진전거동을 밝히기 위하여 관통균열과 포면균열의 진 전거동에 미치는 응력비의 영향을 균열닫힘과 함께 검토하였다.

전장빈도분석에 의한 짱뚱어 Boleophthalmus pectinirostris 0세어의 성장 추정 (Growth Estimation of 0-Aged Blue Spot Mudskipper Boleophthalmus pectinirostris Using Length Frequency Data)

  • The growth of young-of-the-year blue spot mudskipper, Boleophthalmus pectinirostris, was investigated using length-frequency data for 395 individuals collected from a mud flat in southwestern Korea between August and October 2001. Three cohorts were separated by the Bhattacharya method. In October, individuals of cohort-I reached 98 mm in total length, whereas those of cohort-III reached just 66 mm. Each cohort reached hibernation in November, that could be related to the ring formation in the following year.

두폭, 체중 및 체장에 의한 뽕나무하늘소 유충의 성장율 비교 (The Estimate of Larval Growth of Mulberry Longicorn Beetle, Apriona germari Hope on the basis of the Larval Head Capsule Width, Larval Weight and Length)

  • The larval head capsule width, larval weight and length of mulberry longicorn beetle, Apriona germari Hope were measured when the larvae were exuviated in artificial diet rearing. The larval head capsule width from the 1st to the 12th instar was ranged from 0.12 to 0.69 cm, and growth ratio of each instar was significantly high between the 1st and the 2nd instars. The fitness to Dyar's law for the larval head capsule width was 87.6%. When the logarithum of the larval head capsule width is plotted against the number of instars, the calculated regression line was LogY=0.12086+0.06998X and Dyar's constant was 1.18. The larval weight was increased with larval developmental stages, and the coefficient of variation of larval weight was apparently high. But the calculated regression line was LogY=-0.91592+0.25959X and Dyar's constant was 1.25. The growth ration of the larval length was clearly high between the 2nd and the 3rd instars, and that of larvae from the 4th instar was decreased. The calculated regression line was LogY=-0.16932+0.09841X and Dyar's constant was 1.25. In conclusion, our results suggested that the larvae growth of mulberry longicorn beetle appeared to be highly related in the larval head capsule width, larval weight and length.

수종의 버드나무과 유관속 형성층의 구조에 관한 비교연구 (Comparative Study on the Structure of Vascular Cambium in Some Salicaceae)

  • Vascular cambium in 16 species of Salicaceae is nonstoried in all of them and is made up of fusiform and ray initials. The growth of cambial girth occurred by pseudotransverse division of fusiform initials and subsequent apical intrusive growth of daughter initials. The measurements of fusiform initials in tangerntial sections have revealed that the average length varies from 252.2-437.1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in investigated species, with the maximum being in Populus euramericana and the minimum in Salix purprea var. Multinervis. The length of fusiform initials depends on the length of the tapering end wall , therefore, the longer the length of the tapering end wall, therefore, the longer the length of the taperding end wall, the longer the length of fusiform initials. Ray initials have their own size, magnitude, and frequency of occrrence in each species. The relative proportion of ray initials fall about 15.0-24.5% in Salicaceae. Shrubby species of Salix have a lower ratio of ray initials than the species which possess wider trunks. New ray initials are originated from cut off the side or the end of fusiform initials and central partition of a fusiform initials.

경옥고가미방(瓊玉膏加味方)이 흰쥐의 성장(成長)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effect of KyungOcGogamibang on the Growth of the Rats)

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of KyungOcGogamibang(KOGE) on the growth of rats. Methods First of all, we divided male Sprague-Dawley rats into 4 groups(KOGE1, KOGE2, KOGE3 and control group). Then KOGE1, KOGE2 and KOGE3 groups were administered with KOGE water extracts once a day at a dosage of 250, 500, 1,000mg/kg respectively for 3 weeks. The control group was administered with normal saline in the same manner. We measured the rat's body weight, amount of body weight increased, length of femur, serum GH, serum IGF-Ⅰ, serum TSH and serum testosterone after each week of administration. Results 1. There were significant changes of the rat's body weight, the length of the femur, the level of GH, IGF-Ⅰand TSH in KOGE1 groups. 2. There were significant changes of the rat's body weight, the length of the femur, the level of IGF-Ⅰand TSH in KOGE2 groups. 3. There were significant changes of the rat's body weight, the length of the femur, the level of IGF-Ⅰand TSH in KOGE3 groups. Conclusions According to the results above, rat in KOGE group have been increased their body weight, length of femur, serum GH, serum IGF-1 compared to the control group. This study shows that groups of KOGE have an effect on promoting the growth, thus it is expected to treat growth problems for children.

글루티노사오리나무의 생장과 재질 - 해부학적 성질 - (Studies on Wood Quality and Growth of Alnus glutinosa in Korea - Anatomical Properties -)

  • 본 연구는 4개 종자산지(Yugoslovia, ltaly, United Kingdom, Bulgaria)의 글로티노사오리나무(Alnus glutinosa)를 대상으로 목섬유 길이, 도관 길이 및 직경인 해부학적 성질을 조사하여, 이들의 종자산지 간 및 생장속도와의 관계를 규명하였다. 글로티노사오리나무는 산공재, 계단상천공, 교호상벽공으로 나타났다. 접선단면에서 방사조직 높이는 9~11, 횡단면에서 방사조직 수는 16~26개로 나타났다. 산지 간의 목섬유 길이, 도관 길이 및 직경에서 만재부에서는 차이가 없었고, 조재부에서는 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 3개 산지는 생장이 좋을수록 만재부의 목섬유 및 도관 길이가 짧아지는 것으로 나타났으나, 유고슬로비아산은 생장이 좋으면서 목섬유 및 도관길이도 긴 것으로 나타났다.

Estimation of Growth Curve Parameters for Body Weight and Length in Miniature Pigs

  • This study was conducted to estimate the growth curve parameters for the body weight (BW) and body length (BL) of miniature pigs in Korea. Growth curve parameters were estimated through a nonlinear regression model using Gompertz, Logistic, and von Bertalanffy methods. A total of 25 piglets were measured monthly from birth up to 15 months of age to estimate both body weight and length. Results showed that the estimated average values for the body weight (body length) were 31.83 kg (58.77 cm) for the mature weight (A), 3.06 (1.74) for the growth ratio (${\beta}$), and 0.28 (0.52) for the maturing rate (${\kappa}$). Average inflection points showing maximum growth rate estimated each month for body weight were 3.97 kg and 11.70 cm, while for the body length were 1.06 kg and 21.61 cm. Moreover, the estimated maturation rates of the body weight and length for the group of Sire 1 were 0.22 and 0.40 respectively, whereas for the group of Sire 2 these values were 0.34 and 0.39. On the other hand, for the groups of Dam 1, Dam 2, and Dam 3, maturation rates for their body weights were 0.26, 0.28 and 0.33 respectively, while for their body lengths these values were 0.43, 0.37, and 0.38, respectively. The study also indicated a negative relationship between the values of mature weight and maturity rate for the body weight will result to a higher inflection point which is in contrast for the body length where results show that a positive relationship between the values of mature length and the maturity rate will result to a higher inflection point. Furthermore, the growth performance of miniature pig varies across stages but using these estimated growth curve parameters could improve the genetic traits of miniature pig.

Improved Plant Growth from Seed Bacterization Using Siderophore Overproducing Cold Resistant Mutant of Pseudomonas fluorescens

  • The cold resistant mutants of P. fluorescens strain $PRS_{9}$ and ATCC13525 were developed which could grow equally well at $28^{\circ}C$ and $10^{\circ}C$. All the mutants were tested for siderophore production, of which $CRPF_9$ (ATCC13525 mutant) was selected, as there was a 16.8-fold increase when compared to its wild-type. Under in vitro conditions, $CRPF_9$ showed better growth promotion both in wheat (29.1% increase in root length) and mung bean (51.5% increase in root length) at $10^{\circ}C$. Greenhouse trials showed a significant increase in root (13.84cm) and shoot (15.0cm) length of $CRPF_9$-treated mung bean seeds, indicating increased rhizocompetence of the mutant. Ferric citrate was a better iron source than ferric hydroxide for plant growth.

Effect of Seed Leachates of 'Vernal' Alfalfa on Inhibition of Alfalfa Germination and Root Growth

  • Most parts of alfalfa plant have been reported to contain autotoxic substances that inhibit seed germination and early seedling growth, however, the chemical(s) is not still studied much. Effect of seed leachates of 'Vernal' alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) was evaluated for inhibition of alfalfa germination and root growth through bioassay. Alfalfa seeds were extracted in 1 L deionized water for 1 h after soaking and the leachates caused to reduce root length of alfalfa significantly as the soaking time increased. Crude seeds at 4 g L$L^{-1}$ exudated autotoxins that reduce significantly root length by 34 % compared to the control, when the seeds soaked in deionized water for 24 h. However, the extracts did not affect final germination as well as speed of germination. Extracts from ground seeds significantly reduced speed of germination (GT 50) and root length. The results indicate that release of autotoxic substances from seeds during seed imbibition was increased with increase of soaking time and seed amount, and that autotoxicity was more occurred in ground seeds than in crude seeds.
