The purposes of the study were (1) to segment the female college apparel market based on clothing shopping orientation and (2) to develop a profile of each segment regard to fashion life style, information sources, clothing selection criteria, the importance of store attributes and patronage behavior. The data were collected through questionaire by random sample of 526 female college students. By cluster analysis of shopping orientation factors, four groups were identified(apathetic apparel shopper, highly involved apparel shopper, economic apparel shopper, psycho-socializing apparel shopper). Four groups were then compared through multivariate analysis of variance and chi-square statistics on 3 fashion life style factors, 11 information sources, 10 clothing selection criterias, 9 store attributes and 1 patronage behavior variable. Significant difference were found among the four groups on all these variables which indicate that clothing shopping orientation can be a useful base for segmenting female apparel market and these groups are unique in terms of the above 5 variables.
This study considers the fashion as an expressive object of mental value system in order to understand muitivocal value groups. Because the external behavior aspects and internal values of muitivocal value groups are getting more ambiguous in these days. This purposes of this study are as follows; first, this paper examines diversely how these groups affect modern fashion through analysis multivocal value groups after 1990s, and makes clear that various social, cultural, and economical values are important factors for changing symbolic standard connected with fashion. Second, it aims at expanding the positive recognition of the conflicts that exist among various values, and aesthetical recognition that overcome the discrepancy and such conflicts. For this aim, this paper analyzes the social and cultural aspects, aesthetic taste, life style of such groups focusing on Dink, Yiffie, Yettie, Bobos. We examine these groups' characteristics and their effect on modern fashion by categorizing them into Snob Look, Vintage Fashion, Unbalance Fashion, and Caports Look. This paper conducts the previous literature review and the practical analysis on periodical publications and Internet websites concerning fashion. Consequently, this kind of study is useful for providing a theoretical background that would explain the multilateralism in fashion, with uncertain in useful and culture, and changing the obvious confusion to another dimension of order.
A travel destination offers a form of novelty to the traveler since it can provide experiences that are not of the everyday variety. Therefore, a search for novelty is important as a motivation factor when planning leisure trips and vacation activities and to identify travel market segments. This study aimed to examine the differences in demographic characteristics, travel style, and preferred food-related activities in accordance with the level of tourists' novelty seeking. This study investigated potential tourists using a self-administered questionnaire survey, which resulted in 300 usable questionnaires. The respondents of this study were classified into two groups according to their level of novelty seeking: Active novelty-seeking group and Passive novelty-seeking group. These two groups were significantly different with respect to demographic characteristics, travel style, and preference of food-related-activity experience. The results show that the Active novelty-seeking group tended to have a higher proportion of females and specialized jobs, a higher level of monthly income and education, more frequent travel, and preference for food-related activity experience than other groups. The result of this study will be helpful for the tourist industry, which needs to develop culinary and food-related experience tour programs and travel market segments.
At the end of 2002, about 91% of mobile telecommunications service subscribers have mobile phones with the mobile internet access function. However, despite the rapid spread of mobile internet phones, the number of real mobile internet users is very small. In this situation, this paper focuses on the effect of consumer demographics such as sex, age, job, etc. and consumer life-style on the use of mobile internet. This study tries to find the answers about the following questions ; 1) Which consumer demographic variables affect the use of mobile internet\ulcorner 2) How can we categorize the consumers with the mobile internet phones\ulcorner 3) What are the characteristics of categorized groups and is there any difference in using the mobile internet\ulcorner For this purpose, an off-line survey was conducted over 1,500 consumers with the mobile internet phones. This study concludes as follows ; The important demographic factors of the use of mobile internet are age, job, marriage, academic career and personal spending money. Totally viewed in the consumer demographics, the typical type of mobile internet users can be described as the young student. On the other hand, sex and family income variables do not significantly affect the use of mobile internet. And the mobile internet users can be categorized by the life-style into four distinct groups, which are named as the innovation oriented group, the practicality oriented group, the conservation oriented group, the ostentation oriented group. These findings show that the consumer life-style have various effects on the use of mobile internet.
The purpose of this study was to investigate 1) the effects of clothing styles on impression formation of middle and high school students and 2) the differences in impression in relation to perceiver variablex(sex, age, residence). The sample consisted of 60 subjects in each of 8 perceiver groups according to sex, age and residence. Stimuli consisted of 10 color photographs of male and female adolescent wearing each of 5 clothing styles respectively. Questionnaires consisted of 43 seven-point semantic differential scales measuring perceivers responses to the stimuli, open-ended Question and perceiver’s clothing style preference. Responses to the semantic differential scale were factor analyzed and 4 factors - Self-confidence/refinement, Sincerity, Intelligence, and Sociability - were emerged to account for the structure of the impression of the male stimuli. Five factors - Sincerity, Refinement, Self-confidence, Sociability, Intellience - were emerged in case of female stimuli. One-way ANOVA results showed that clothing styles had the effects on all the factors of impression except Sincerity. From the reset analyzing the effects of perceiver variables on impressions, age had the effects in all the clothing styles, sex had the effects in 6 clothing styles, and residence in 5 clothing styles. Clothing style 5(male stimuli) and style 10(female stimuli) were the most preferred clothing style in all the subject groups.
Undergraduate students struggle to comprehend embryology because of its dynamic nature. Studies have recommended using a combination of teaching methods to match the student's learning style. But there has been no study to describe the effect of such teaching strategy over the different types of learners. In the present study, an attempt has been made to teach embryology using the combination of analogies and simple 2D animations made with Microsoft powerpoint software. The objective of the study is to estimate the difference in academic improvement and perception scale between the different types of learners after introducing analogies and 2D animation in a lecture environment. Based on Visual, Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic (VARK) scoring system the learners were grouped into unimodal and multimodal learners. There was significant improvement in post-test score among the unimodal (P<0.001) and multimodal learners (P<0.001). When the post-test score was compared between the two groups, the multimodal learners performed better the unimodal learners (P=0.018). But there was no difference in the perception of animations and analogies and long-term assessment between the groups. The multimodal learners performed better than unimodal learners in short term recollection, but in long term retention of knowledge the varied learning style didn't influence its outcome.

The purpose of this study were 1) to identify the effects of age and sex of Korean adolescents on the psychological variables(body attitudes, public/private self-consciousness, self-esteem), weight control practices, and clothing behaviors, and 2) to identify the relation- ships between psychological variables and weight control practices, and the effects of the variables on clothing behaviors in the adolescent' groups classified by sex and age. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Two factors of body attitudes were identified: Body-shape consciousness and Physical attractiveness. Four factors of clothing attitudes were identified: Clothing interest/dressing for others, Clothing exhibition, Dressing for self, and Psychological clothing-dependerlce. 2) There were significant effects of sex on all of the research variables. Age was found to have effects on Physical attractiveness, self-esteem, public/private self-consciousness, Clothing exhibition, and Psychological clothing- dependence. 3) In the relationships between psychological variables and weight control practices, Body-shape consciousness was negatively correlated with Physical attractiveness in all groups. Also, Body-shape consciousness had effects on weight control practice in all subject groups. 4) Public self-consciousness had direct/indirect effects on the Clothing interest/dressing for others in all subject groups. Private self-consciousness had direct/ indirect effects on dressing for self in high school boys and girls. Body-shape consciousness had indirect effects on Preference for up-to date style in male college students group, whereas weight control practices had effects on the Preference for up-to date style in female college students group. Self-esteem was found to have the effects on clothing behavior in college students groups. Among clothing attitude factors, Clothing exhibition had distinct effects on the Preference for up-to date style in all subject groups, and Clothing interest/dressing for others had effects on Clothing exhibition and Psychological clothing-dependence in high school boys and girs.

The purpose of this study is to categorize learning style groups and to analyze students' learning interest and self-regulated learning abilities, according to their learning style and giftedness. One hundred and twenty-three (123) science-gifted student and 296 regular students participated in this study, responding to learning style, self-regulated learning, and learning interest questionnaires. Data were analyzed, using 2-stage cluster analysis, $x^2$ test, two way-MANOVA test, and $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test. The results are as follows: First, by 2-stage cluster analysis, four groups were categorized: 'high-score thinking style,' 'external-liberal,' 'executive-conservative,' and 'low-score thinking style.' In the gifted group, high-score thinking style (51.2%) was the most popular, then executive-conservative (30.2%), external-liberal (17.1%), and low-score thinking style (1.6%); in the regular student group, the executive-conservative group was the biggest, then high-score thinking style (20.6%), external-liberal (11.6%), and then the low-score thinking style (8.7%). Second, in terms of learning interest, the analysis by thinking style showed that the high-score thinking style group had higher learning interest compared to the executive-conservative and the low-thinking style group. The high-thinking style group's thoughtful interest also scored the highest compared with the others. The gifted students' thoughtful interest and investigative interest also were higher than regular students '. Third, in terms of the self-regulated learning, the analysis by thinking style showed that the high-score thinking style group showed higher scores on all sub-variances than other groups, especially having highest control-belief scores. Also, gifted students had higher scores on control-belief and searching information. Based on these results, the ways for effective education and support were discussed.
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of children's creativity to field independence-dependence cognitive style and demographic variables at age 5. The subjects for the present study were 86 five-year-old boys and girls selected from two kindergartens in Seoul and their parents, who replied to the questionnaire about demographic variables. Children were tested in groups, with the Torrance tests of Creative Thinking-Figural, and individually with the Preschool Embedded Figures Test. The data were analyzed by one way ANOVA, t-test, and Pearson's product-moment correlations. Children's fluency and originality in creativity showed significant positive correlations with field dependent-independent cognitive style. There were no significant differences in creativity according to sex. There were significant differences in field dependent-independent cognitive style according to sex. The score of field independent cognitive style of boys were significantly higher than those of girls. Children's creativity showed low correlations with demographic variables.
