The participants were divided into 2 groups, the experimental group of 16 and the control group of 17. Results: The Group therapy program had significant effects on decreasing depression in the elders. In the experimental group, the level of depression was significantly decreased after the group therapy (t=-3.873, p=.002). Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that group therapy programs have a positive effect on geriatric depression in elders who live at home. Therefore, the authors expect further studies will be done based on the schematized group program to verify the results of this study for elders living at home in other parts of the country.

Conclusion: Findings of this study suggest that empowerment interventions may be effective in enhancing nursing home residents' self-esteem, interpersonal relationships and adjustment to nursing home life. Future research is needed to determine if such an empowerment program could be used with newly institutionalized elders to speed as well as enhance their adjustment to nursing home life.

Various conservative treatments such as taping, exercise, and electrotherapy have been applied to carpal tunnel syndrome and their effectiveness has been proven. This study aims to determine whether home exercise combined with taping is effective for pain and functional disability in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. Design: Randomized controlled study Methods: 21 patients were recruited and were randomly divided into HEx+T (Home exercise+taping) group (n=10) and HEx (Home exercise) group (n=11). All participants performed Home exercise(tendon and neural gliding exercise) 5 times a week for 6 weeks. Additionally, subject in the HEx group, taping was applied over the wrist and forearm during the training period. Wrist pain was measured by VAS (Visual Analogue Scale). Functional disability was measured using a BCTSQ(The Boston Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Questionnaire). Results: Both the HEx+T group and the HEx group showed a significant improvement in wrist pain(p<0.05), and the HEx+T group showed a more significant decrease in pain than the HEx group(p<0.05). There was a significant improvement in both groups in functional disability (p<0.05), and the HEX+T group showed more improvement than the HEX group(p<0.05). Conclusions: This study suggests that home exercise combined with taping is effective for pain and functional disability in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome.

Home nursing care for the experimental group consisted of stitch removal. wound care and education for parturient women. Home nursing care was provided for 2-3 days after early discharge. The outcomes of self care focused home nursing care were measured by self-care competency. Data collection was done by a self-reported questionnaire and by a telephone interview 2-3 days after discharge from the hospital(control) or after home care (experimental) from December, 20, 1998 to June, 10, 1999. The questionnaire consisted of 25 items on 9 self-care domains. Data was analyzed by a t-test. and as $x^2$-test. The study results were as follows: 1. The general characteristics of both groups were similar except for the total number of pregnancies, and whether or not they wanted the pregnancy at this time. 2. The self-care competency scores for the experimental group receiving self care focused home nursing care were higher than the scores for the control group(t=2.361. $p{\le}.05$). 3. There was no significant difference in the rate of OPD visiting, readmission, or emergency room use between the two groups. We concluded that self care focused home nursing care is effective in promoting the self-care competency of parturient women following Cesarean sections.
