The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of nine times repetitive steaming and drying process Sunsik diets on antioxidant activity in obese mice fed high fat diets to prevent oxidative stress, using drying materials comprising 23 kinds of cereals (61.5%), beans (30.0%), sweet potato and potato (3.0%), fruits (2.0%), vegetables (3.0%), and stevioside, a natural sweetener (0.5%). We produced three samples: the experimental group was classified into the normal diet group (control), the high fat diet group (HF), and the high fat diet group + the Sunsik group (3HFS, 7HFS, 9HFS) fed to the mice for eight weeks. As a result, the serum, liver lipid peroxide, and nitric oxide levels were significantly higher in the HF group than in the C group at p<0.05 level, and the NO level was lower in the Sunsik supplemented groups. The antioxidant enzyme catalase activity significantly decreased in the HF group at the p<0.05 level compared to the C group. The total antioxidant activity of the C group was significantly higher in serum, liver, and kidney tissues than the HF group (p<0.05). The anthocyanin level in liver and spleen tissue was significantly higher in the group fed Sunsik than in the HF group.
The aim of the study was to investigate whether music drama activity has an affect on literacy, musical ability and physical expression in preschoolers. The subjects of this experiment were 48 five-year-old children who were selected from two kindergarten in geonbook(experimental group : 24, comparison group : 24). The children in experimental group were asked to act four young children's music drama through sixteen weeks. The children in comparison group were involved in activity referred to in storybook. The data gained from the research were analyzed using a SPSS(p=.05) computer program. The main results in this study are as follows : First, there were partly significant differences in young children's music drama activity in terms of rating of literacy. Especially, story understanding as indicated by literacy test scores in the experimental group was significantly different. There were also significant differences in young children's music drama activity in terms of rating of musical ability and physical expression.
Despite well-known benefits of physical activity for older adults, most older adults remain significantly underactive. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a physical activity on blood cholesterol in older adults with an inclusive, choice-based physical activity promotion program to increase lifetime physical activity levels of seniors. A six-month comparison-group trial was conducted with 14 older adults(experimental group = 8, control group = 6) in community senior center. Changes in self-reported physical activity and blood cholesterol were evaluated using paired t-test. The intervention group increased estimated caloric expenditure by 858 calories/week in physical activities of any intensity (p=.050), total cholesterol(p=0.049), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(p=0.045). Control group changes were also negligible. The program led to meaningful physical activity increase. Individually tailored programs to encourage lifestyle changes in seniors may be effective and applicable to health care and community settings.
The antioxidant activities of the bread made from waxy black rice flour(WBRF) and wheat flour were investigated. The waxy black rice bread was manufactured with 10, 20, 30, or 40% waxy black rice flour(w/w). As the additive amount of WBRF were increased, DPPH(1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl) radical scavenging activity and TEAC(trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity) were also increased. WBRF group showed the higher activity than the control group in DPPH radical scavenging activity and TEAC. The group with 10% WBRF added was not significantly different from the control group in metal chelating activity, but over 20% of addition, it had the higher metal chelating activity than that of the control group.
Purpose : The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of a core stability exercise program using Swiss Ball on muscle activity, muscle thickness, maximum muscular strength, and pain in the trunk region during a 6-weeks program involving participants who have lower back pain. Methods : A total of 21 males between the ages of 20 and 33 years old were divided into 3 Swiss Ball exercise groups. Group 1 performed isometric exercises, group 2 performed isotonic exercises, and group 3 performed mixed exercises. Measurements were taken prior to starting the exercise program and after completing the program at the 6-week period using ME6000 to measure muscle activity and VAS to measure pain reduction. Comparisons were made using a paired t-test and ANOVA on SPSS 10.0. Results : There was a statistically significant effect in muscle activity for group 1 and group 3. Secondly, there was a statistically significant effect in pain reduction for group 1, group 2, and group 3. Conclusion : We found that isometric exercises performed by group 1 were effective in improving muscle activity and pain reduction.

Botnet is a type of dangerous malware. Botnet attack with a collection of bots attacking a similar target and activity pattern is called bot group activities. The detection of bot group activities using intrusion detection models can only detect single bot activities but cannot detect bots' behavioral relation on bot group attack. Detection of bot group activities could help network administrators isolate an activity or access a bot group attacks and determine the relations between bots that can measure the correlation. This paper proposed a new model to measure the similarity between bot activities using the intersections-probability concept to define bot group activities called as B-Corr Model. The B-Corr model consisted of several stages, such as extraction feature from bot activity flows, measurement of intersections between bots, and similarity value production. B-Corr model categorizes similar bots with a similar target to specify bot group activities. To achieve a more comprehensive view, the B-Corr model visualizes the similarity values between bots in the form of a similar bot graph. Furthermore, extensive experiments have been conducted using real botnet datasets with high detection accuracy in various scenarios.
Objectives : An aim of study is to investigate effects of curculiginis rhizoma in vitro (factor Xa (FXa) inhibitor assay, prothrombinase assay, prothrombin time (PT) assay, activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) assay) and in vivo experiment (blood clotting time, thromboxane B2 content assay in serum and weight of thrombus by AV-shunt rat model). Methods : We gained a human serum and used serum in vitro study such as factor X activity (FXa) inhibition, prothrombinase inhibition, prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time. Fifteen SD rats were divided into three groups (intact control group and two experimental group treated with extract of Curculiginis Rhizoma(ECR)). Rats were orally administrated DW (intact control group), 600 mg/kg concertration of ECR and 200 mg/kg concertration of ECR. After one hour, we anesthetized rats and made arteriovenous (AV) shunt rat models to study weights of thrombus, took a hole blood to study content of thromboxane B2 and blood clotting time. Results : In vitro, ECR increased a inhibitory activity of FXa, prothrombinase and aPTT compared than intact control group. Especially ECR made significant increase of FXa and prothrombinase inhibitory activity (p<0.05, p<0.01). And PT were increased in ECR control group compared with intact control group. In vivo, a blood clotting time of experiment group treated with ECR 600 mg/kg were significantly increased compared with that of intact control group (p<0.05) and content of thromboxane B2 was significantly decreased in group treated with ECR 600 mg/kg in seum. The weight of thrombus were significantly reduced in group treated with ECR 600 mg/kg compared with intact control group (p<0.05). But in vivo experiment study, those of group treated with ECR 200 mg/kg were reduced compared with those of intact control group without statistical significance. Conclusions : ECR has a antithromboic activity in internal course with inhibitory activity of FXa and prothrombinase in vitro, it required to research more study for effective compounds.
This study has been attempted to set up the strategies of the nursing which can promote the activity performance for early rehabilitation for the patients by examining the effect of the structured patient education on the early rehabilitation knowledge and activity performance of the C.V.A patients. The study method has been done by investigating the experiment group and control group in advance through the question papers and interview and observation on 65 patients who had been hospitalized at oriental medicine hospital of K Medical Center from July 1st 1995 to the end of Sep, 1995. The analysis of the collected material had been done for the homogeneity test in which general characters of experiment group and control group had been tested by X²and the homogeneity test of ADL by t-test. To test the hypothesis the t-test had been given for the difference of the early rehabilitation knowledge and activity performance between the two groups and the correlation between early rehabilitation knowledge and activity performance had been tested by Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. The result of the test of the hypothesis is as the below. 1 The 1st hypothesis “The experiment group which had received the structured education should be higher in the early rehabilitation knowledge than the control group” was supported(t=4.45. p=.000). 2. The 2nd hypothesis “The experiment group which received the structured education should be higher in the early rehabilitation activity performance than the control group”was supported(t=2.11, p=.036). 3. The 3rd hypothesis “The higher the early rehabilitation knowledge of the patient the higher the activity performance degree” was rejected (r=.1546, p=.219). In conclusion, the patients who received the structured education showed the increase in the degree of early rehabilitation knowledge and activity performance, so it has been judged that education has been prerequisite in increasing the knowledge and activity performance of early rehabilitation.
Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to examine joint position senses and muscle activity in subjects with and without chronic low back pain and to determine the effects of different types of bridge exercises on their trunk muscle activity. Methods: Thrity-eight subjects with chronic low back pain and thrity healthy controls participated in the experiment. Joint position senses and trunk muscle activity levels were measured during the different bridge exercise methods. Results: The joint position senses of the healthy group and chronic low back pain group showed significant differences during lumbar flexion, lumbar extension, lumbar lateral flexion, and lumbar rotation. The muscle activity levels of the transversus abdominis (TrA), internal oblique (IO), and external oblique (EO) were highest in the prone bridge exercise (PBE) group, followed by the supine bridge swiss ball exercise (SBSE) group and supine bridge exercise (SBE) group in order of precedence. The muscle activity level of the erector spinae (ES) was highest in the SBSE group, followed by the SBE and PBE groups in order of precedence. Conclusion: Overall, the results suggest that chronic low back pain is associated with declines in joint position senses and that PBEs increase trunk muscle activity more than conventional bridge exercises.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact on creativity when the elementary fifth-grade students do the activity with impression writing or the activity with science writing after reading books on science. The subjects for this study were students in two fifth-grade classes in an elementary school that was located in Incheon. The two classes were respectively selected as an experimental group and a comparison group. The comparison group read books on science and did the activity with impression writing for 6 weeks. And, the experimental group also read books on science and did the activity with science writing for 6 weeks. According to the result of the effect on the creativity, the experimental group was better than the comparison group. This study showed that the activity with science writing was more effect than the activity with impression writing to boost the creativity. After a detailed analysis about the creativity, this study showed a boost for all area of subordinate creativity.
