In order to analyze ground potential rise of grounding system installed in buildings, the hemispherical grounding simulation system has been designed and fabricated as substantial and economical measures. Ground potential rise(GPR) has been measured and analyzed for shapes of grounding electrode using the system in real time. The system is apparatus to have a free reduced scale for conductor size and laying depth of a full scale grounding system and is constructed so that a shape of equipotential surface is nearly identified a free reduced scale with a real scale when a current flows through grounding electrode. The system was composed of a hemispherical water tank, AC Power supply, a movable potentiometer, and test grounding electrodes. The test grounding electrodes were fabricated through reducing grounding electrode installed in real buildings such as rod type, mesh grid type. When a mesh grid type was associated with a rod type, GPR was the lowest value. The proposed results would be applicable to evaluate GPR in the grounding systems. and the analytical data can be used 0 stabilize the electrical installations and prevent the electrical disasters.

This paper presents the transient and conventional grounding impedance behaviors of large grid grounding system associated with the injection point of impulse current The measurement methods consider two possible errors in the grounding-system impedances: (1) ground mutual resistance due to current flow through ground from the ground electrode to be measured to the current auxiliary, (2) ac mutual coupling between the current test lead and the potential test lead The test circuit was set to reduce the error factors. The transient grounding impedance depends on the rise time and injection point of impulse current It is effective that grounding conductor is connected to the center of the large grid grounding system.

This paper presents a comparison on the resistance and characteristics of transient response of grounding systems under surge currents using frequency domain electromagnetic field analysis software package and field test. Analysis is done by computer model, based on electromagnetic field theory approach, that accurately takes into account frequency dependent characteristics of the system. The transient performance of three grounding systems is analyzed by comparison of frequency dependent impedance and the maximal transient GPR. A double exponential lighting surge current is injected at one corner of the grounding systems. The transient GPRs a rod grounding systems are higher than mesh or electrolytic grounding systems. Af field test, the results of resistance measurement and time-variant of ground resistance slightly reduce electorlytic grounding systems less than rod and mesh grounding systems.

This paper presents to verify the selective grounding fault protective relaying technique for the ungrounded DC traction power supply system. This system selectively blocks fault section when grounding fault occurred. In order to perform this verification, field test facilities have been installed on Oesam substation and Worldcup-Stadium substation, and field test process has been suggested. Also, selective grounding fault protective relaying components and rail voltage reduction device have been tested with the various trial examinations. In order to compare and evaluate performance of the selective grounding fault protective relaying function, field test system was modeled and the system fault simulation results were compared and evaluated with the field test result. Performance of selective grounding fault protective relaying function was evaluated with the above-mentioned process, and the fact that the system recognizes fault section irrespective of insulation between rail and ground and fault resistance from grounding fault.
Natural degradation of grounding-electrode in soil environment should be monitored for several decades to predict the lifetime of the grounding electrode for efficient application and management. However, long-term studies for such electrodes have many practical limitations. The conventional accelerated corrosion test is unsuitable for such studies because simulated soil corrosion process cannot represent the actual soil environment. A preliminary experiment of accelerated corrosion test was conducted using existing test standards. The accelerated corrosion test that reflects the actual soil environment has been developed to evaluate corrosion performances of grounding-electrodes in a short period. Several test conditions with different chamber temperatures and salt spray were used to imitate actual field conditions based on ASTM B162, ASTM B117, and ISO 14993 standards. Accelerated degradation specimens of copper-bonded electrodes were made by the facile method and their corrosion performances were investigated. Their corrosion rates were calculated to $0.042{\mu}m/day$, $0.316{\mu}m/day$, and $0.11{\mu}m/day$, respectively. These results indicate that accelerated deterioration of grounding materials can be determined in a short period by using cyclic test condition with salt spray temperature of $50^{\circ}C$.

In order to analyze the potential rise of grounding systems installed in buildings, a hemispherical grounding simulation system was studied. Potential rise was measured and analyzed regarding the shape and distance of the grounding electrodes by using this system. The system was composed of a hemispherical water tank, AC power supply, a movable potentiometer, and test grounding electrodes. The potential rise was measured in real time by the horizontal moving probe of be potentiometer. The test grounding electrodes were fabricated through reducing the grounding electrode installed in real buildings such as the ground rod, grounding grid and so on. The potential rise was displayed in a two-dimensional profile and was analyzed regarding the shapes of the ground electrodes. The potential rise of the grounding grid combined with a ground rod was the lowest of every grounding electrode tested. The proposed results can be applicable to evaluating ground potential rise in grounding systems, and the analytical data can be used to stabilize the electrical installations and prevent electrical disasters.

This paper presents the error factors of Fall-of-potential test method used in measurements of the grounding-system impedance. This test methods inherently can introduce two possible errors in the measurements of grounding-system impedance: (1) ground mutual resistance due to current flow through ground from the ground electrode to the current probe, (2) ac mutual coupling between the current test lead and the potential test lead. The errors of ground mutual resistances and ac mutual coupling are expressed by the equation in calculating grounding impedance. These equations were calculated by Matlab that is commercial tool using mathematical calculation. The results of calculation were applied to correct grounding impedance.

In this paper, we have provided the measurement technique of the grounding mesh resistance by field measurements. The standard of measurement is specified in the IEEE Std 81.2-1991 and JEAC 5001-1988, which is the the fall-of-potential method by test-current injection, but this method is difficult to apply at field, where is small around a electric power substation of domestic. For the convenient measurement method, space of assistant probe and quantity of test-current injection are changed step for step. As the result, ' the proposed measurement technique of grounding mesh resistance is that the space of current and potential probes must be fixed at 150rn from a grounding mesh, the test-current injection has to keep 5A or more.

Grounding system insures a reference potential point for electric devices and also provides a low impedance path for fault currents or transient currents in the earth. The ground impedance as function of frequency is necessary for determining its performance since fault currents could contain a wide range of frequencies. In this paper, the grounding resistance, grounding impedance and transient grounding impedance are measured by using 3-point fall-of-potential method in order to analyse grounding characteristics of the copper and concrete rod grounding electrodes. An equivalent transfer function model of the ground impedance and transient grounding impedance are identified from the measured values by using ARMA method and evaluated by comparing the conventional grounding impedance.
In order to analyze the potential rise of ground surface of grounding grid installed in buildings, the grounding simulator has been designed and fabricated as substantial and economical measures. This paper describes the study of touch and step voltages with grounding grid where earth leakage current is injected. To assess risk voltage of grounding grid, the grounding simulator and CDEGS program were used to obtain measured data and theoretical results of this study. The grounding simulator was composed of an electrolytic tank, AC power supply, a movable potentiometer, and test grounding electrodes. The potential rise was measured by grounding simulator, and the touch and step voltages were computed by CDEGS program. As a consequence, the touch voltage and step voltage above the grounding grid were very low, but were significantly increased near the edge of grounding grid.
