Vision-based Ground Test for Active Debris Removal

  • Due to the continuous space development by mankind, the number of space objects including space debris in orbits around the Earth has increased, and accordingly, difficulties of space development and activities are expected in the near future. In this study, among the stages for space debris removal, the implementation of a vision-based approach technique for approaching space debris from a far-range rendezvous state to a proximity state, and the ground test performance results were described. For the vision-based object tracking, the CAM-shift algorithm with high speed and strong performance, and the Kalman filter were combined and utilized. For measuring the distance to a tracking object, a stereo camera was used. For the construction of a low-cost space environment simulation test bed, a sun simulator was used, and in the case of the platform for approaching, a two-dimensional mobile robot was used. The tracking status was examined while changing the position of the sun simulator, and the results indicated that the CAM-shift showed a tracking rate of about 87% and the relative distance could be measured down to 0.9 m. In addition, considerations for future space environment simulation tests were proposed.

불포화 강도 유실에 의한 지반함몰 현상의 모형 실험 재현 및 일반 보간 재료점법을 활용한 수치적 모사 (Model Tests and GIMP (Generalized Interpolation Material Point Method) Simulations of Ground Cave-ins by Strength Reduction due to Saturation)

  • 본 연구에서는 하수관 손상에 의한 지반함몰 발생 과정에서 지반의 포화도 상승에 따른 흙의 불포화 강도 저하의 영향을 파악하기 위하여, 직접 전단 실험, 모형 실험, 그리고 수치해석을 수행하였다. 직접 전단 시험 결과, 흙의 마찰각은 포화도의 영향을 크게 받지 않으나, 점착력은 포화도의 영향을 크게 받음을 알 수 있다. 포화도 상승에 따른 강도저하의 영향만을 고려하기 위하여, 물의 침투효과를 배제한 모형 실험을 실시하여 지반 함몰 현상을 재현하였다. 지반 함몰은 대변위를 동반하며, 기존 유한요소법의 적용이 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 대변위 해석 기법인 일반 보간 재료점법을 사용하여 수행한 모형실험을 수치적으로 모사하였다. 비록 경계 조건 차이, 불완전 포화, 손상부 연결관의 폐색등에 의해 함몰 시간 등에는 차이가 있었지만, 유사한 토체의 변형 거동이 모형 실험과 수치해석에서 발견되었다.

탄소접지극이 병설된 접지그리드의 접지임피던스의 해석 (Analysis of the Ground Impedance of Ground Grids Combined with the Carbon Ground Electrodes)

  • This paper deals with the frequency-dependent ground impedance of ground grids combined with the carbon ground electrodes. Ground grids are generally valid for multipurpose grounding systems as well as lightning protection systems. The carbon ground electrodes may be supplementarily used to reduce the high frequency ground impedance and to improve the transient response to surge currents. The frequency-dependent ground impedances of ground grids combined with or without the carbon ground electrodes were measured and their simulations with due regard to frequency-dependent soil resistivity were implemented by using EMTP program and Matlab modeling. As a consequence, the ground impedance of ground grids combined with the carbon ground electrodes is significantly reduced when the test current is injected at the terminal of the carbon ground electrode. The measured and simulated data for the test ground grids fairly agree with each other. It was found that the proposed method of simulating the frequency-dependent ground impedance is distinguished. The simulation techniques of predicting accurately the ground impedances without actual measurements can be used in the design of grounding systems based on ground grids and the carbon ground electrodes.

An Experimental Study of Aerodynamic Drag on High-speed Train

  • A series do wind tunnel tests were conducted for Korean high-speed train model with various shape components to assess the contributions to aerodynamic drag. In order to elucidate the ground effects, two different wind tunnels, one with a moving ground system and the other with a fixed ground, were used for the same model and the results of both were compared and analyzed in detail. The result show that a suitable ground simulation is necessary for the test of a train model with many cars and detailed underbody. But the relative difference of the drag coefficients for the modifications of shape components can be measured by a fixed ground test with high accuracy and low cost. The effects of the nose shape, the inter-cargap and the bogie-fairing on total drag were discussed and some ideas were prosed to decrease the aerodynamic resistance of high speed train.

  • Preliminary design of a ground plate, a device installed close to the aircraft model for wind tunnel test to simulate the ground effect, was performed by a numerical simulation. A two-dimensional numerical study was performed initially to decide the optimal leading edge and flap configurations. Then, three-dimensional studies were conducted to decide the optimal flap deflection angle for pressure distribution reduction since the plate and the plate supporting system generate static pressure difference between the upper and lower flow regions. Three-dimensional simulation additionally studied the effect of the clearance between the plate and the wind tunnel side wall. For the efficiency of computation, half model was simulated and a symmetric boundary condition was applied on the center plane. Based on the preliminary design, a ground plate was designed, manufactured and tested at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI) wind tunnel. The measured pressure differences versus flap deflection angle agreed well with the predicted results.

  • A controller test on a sounding rocket using a testbed is discussed in the paper. Because of the high cost and the risk for the flight test the hardware simulation on the ground is performed. In this paper the conventional On/Off Controller is applied to the attitude control of a sounding rocket. The hardware simulation results are compared with those of the software simulation.

  • Because data processing systems in recent years are more complicated, main function of the data processing is divided as several sub-functions which are implemented and verified in each subsystem of the data processing system. For the verification of data processing system, many interface tests among subsystems are required and also a lot of simulation systems are demanded. This paper proposes CTHS (Common Test Harness System) for satellite ground segment development which has all of functions for interface test of the data processing system in one PC. Main functions of the CTHS software are data interface, system log generation, and system information display. For the interface test of the data processing system, all of actions of the CTHS are executed by a pre-defined operation scenario which is written by purpose of the data processing system test.

스마트 무인기의 지상시험을 통한 비행제어 성능분석 (Assessment of Flight Control Performance based on the Ground Test Results of Smart UAV)

  • 스마트무인기의 비행시험에 앞서 비행제어시스템을 포함한 전체 무인기 체계의 건전성을 검증하기위한 지상통합시험을 수행하였다. 지상통합시험은 비행체 인터페이스 시험, 비행체 HILS시험, 지상파워시험, 4자유도 치구시험, 안전줄 호버시험 순서로 진행되었으며, 각각의 시험을 통해 전체 무인기 시스템의 안전성을 입증하였다. 본 논문에서는 국내 최초로 개발된 틸트로터인 스마트무인기의 지상시험 절차와 각 시험에서 획득한 데이터 분석결과를 제시하였다. 지상시험 결과 비행제어시스템의 안전성이 충분히 입증되었으며, 비행시험이 수행가능하다고 판단되었다.

  • Flutter wind-tunnel test is an expensive and complicated process. Also, the test model may has discrepancy in the structural characteristics when compared to those of the real model. "Dry Wind-Tunnel" (DWT) is an innovative testing system which consists of the ground vibration test (GVT) hardware system and software which computationally can be operated and feedback in real-time to yield rapidly the unsteady aerodynamic forces. In this paper, we study on the aerodynamic forces of DWT system to feedback in time domain. The aerodynamic forces in the reduced-frequency domain are approximated by Minimum-state approximation. And we present a state-space equation of the aerodynamic forces. With the two simulation model, we compare the results of the flutter analysis.

지중 열교환기 종류에 따른 성능 및 시공비 분석 (Performance and Initial Cost Analysis on Various Type of Ground Heat Exchangers)

  • This paper presents a preliminary experimental and computational study on the evaluation of thermal performance and initial cost of U, W and coil type ground heat exchangers (GHEs). Heat exchange rate of the individual GHE was evaluated from the thermal resperformance test (TPT) results, and the construction cost was also calculated. For more information, GLD (ground loop design) simulations of various piping size are carried out. From simulation results, the optimized GHE was suggested based on the thermal performance and construction cost as well. Besides, the required borehole length of U and W type GHEs was calculated considering a real construction condition using GLD program.
