이미지 및 USN 기반 원격 적설량 측정 시스템 (An Image-Based Remote Snow Height Measurement System using a USN)

  • In conventional methods for measuring snow height, a graduated pole is installed on ground in an area of interest and the snow height is manually read from the pole. Recently, automated snow height measurement systems have been introduced to improve the conventional methods. The automated measurement systems, however, are quite expensive since they use the reflection of ultrasonic waves or laser beams. In addition, it is not easy to move the location of the automated measure systems. This paper proposes a snow height measurement system equipped with image sensors and wireless communication capability via a USN and the Internet. The proposed system has a resolution of 5 cm and easy to deploy without difficulties, which can be usefully used to monitor unforseen local snowfalls.

  • For an equivalent uniform soil model to multiple-layered soil structure, ground depth, which is used in the calculation of equivalent resistivity, should be varied according to the size of grounding area. In case of 150 kV substation grounding design, 15 m of ground depth has been used and 25 m for 345 kV, But applying these ground depths can lead to errors in grounding resistance calculation, and these errors are coming from the poor representation of those depths to real soil resistivities. In this paper, the soil resistivity measurement techniques by Wenner method and grounding resistance calculation results by computer simulation were presented. Case studies contain the area from 3,000 to $30,000\;m^2$ and measuring space from of m to $100{\sim}250\;m$, Based of the computation results, 50 m, 60 m and 80 m of ground depth for less than 30, 40 and 70 m of equivalent hemispherical radius were proposed respectively.

Orbit Determination of Korea Regional Navigation Satellite System Using Inter-Satellite Links and Ground Observations

  • This study presents the orbit determination (OD) of a candidate Korea Regional Navigation Satellite System (KRNSS) using both inter-satellite links (ISLs) and ground observations. The candidate constellation of KRNSS is first introduced. The OD algorithm based on both ISL and ground observation is developed, and consists of three main components: dynamic model for Korean navigation satellites, measurement model for ISLs and ground observations, and the batch least-square filter for estimating OD parameters. As numerical simulations are performed to analyze the OD performances, the present study focuses on investigating the effects of ISL measurements on the OD accuracy of KRNSS. Simulation results show that the use of ISLs can considerably enhance the OD accuracy to one meter (design preference) under certain distributions of ground stations.

비고유 특징을 갖는 의미정보를 이용한 지상 자율이동체 측위 기법 (Autonomous Ground Vehicle Localization Filter Design Using Landmarks with Non-Unique Features)

  • This paper investigates the autonomous ground vehicle (AGV) localization filter design problem under GNSS-denied environments. It is assumed that the given landmarks do not have unique features due to the lack of a prior knowledge on them. For such case, the AGV may have difficulties in distinguishing the position measurement of the detected landmark from those of other landmarks with the same feature, hence the conventional localization filters are not applicable. To resolve this technical issue, the localization filter design problem is formulated as a special form of the data association determining whether the detected feature is actually originated from which landmark. The measurement hypotheses generated by landmarks with the same feature are evaluated by the nearest neighbor data association scheme to reduce the computational burden. The position measurement corresponding to the landmark with the most probable hypothesis is used for localization filter. Through the experiments in real-driving condition, it is shown that the proposed method provides satisfactory localization performance in spite of using non-unique landmarks.

A Study on the Methodology for Determining Dynamic Loadings of Automotive Suspension System Using Measurement and Modeling

  • To design suspension system and estimate its durability , the loading history of each suspension part exposed to various operation conditions should be known from either measurement or computations. Based on these results, stress analysis is carried out to obtain the optimal shape and to reduce the production cost through the proper selection of manufacturing process. In this paper, first the measurement of 3-directional accelerations of wheel center using an accelerometer are undertaken from a vehicle running on Belgian road. Then the data measured from experiments are pre-processed with filtering . Based on the pre-processed data the methodology for determining the dynamic loading to each suspension part is developed by simply modeling the suspension system with ADAMS software. Eventually , it is expected that dynamic loadings can be used for the dynamic stress and fatigue analyses.

  • Considering a countermeasure against vibration along the existing line, in many cases, it may be the most efficient method to replace existing fasteners with high resilient fasteners because of the restriction of the construction of a new track type. There are many types of high resilient fasteners which are different in price and performance. Therefore it is important to choose the high resilient fastener which has best vibration-proof performance per price. In this study, a prediction method which can exactly evaluate the performance of a fastener in the reduction the ground borne noise in the existing line is presented, which is constructed based on the combination of the measurement and the simulation. A numerical example using the presented method is introduced to evaluate the vibration-proof performance for the solution of the vibration problem in the existing line.

Using SG Arrays for Hydrology in Comparison with GRACE Satellite Data, with Extension to Seismic and Volcanic Hazards

  • We first review some history of the Global Geodynamics Project (GGP), particularly in the progress of ground-satellite gravity comparisons. The GGP Satellite Project has involved the measurement of ground-based superconducting gravimeters (SGs) in Europe for several years and we make quantitative comparisons with the latest satellite GRACE data and hydrological models. The primary goal is to recover information about seasonal hydrology cycles, and we find a good correlation at the microgal level between the data and modeling. One interesting feature of the data is low soil moisture resulting from the European heat wave in 2003. An issue with the ground-based stations is the possibility of mass variations in the soil above a station, and particularly for underground stations these have to be modeled precisely. Based on this work with a regional array, we estimate the effectiveness of future SG arrays to measure co-seismic deformation and silent-slip events. Finally we consider gravity surveys in volcanic areas, and predict the accuracy in modeling subsurface density variations over time periods from months to years.

콘크리트 전주 구조체의 접지효과 측정 및 분식 (Measurement and Analysis of Structural Grounding Effect of Concrete Pole)

  • 콘크리트 전주는 배전선로 지지물로서 널리 사용되고 있다. 전주의 접지저항을 규정치 이내로 유지하기 위하여 동피복 접지봉을 포함한 여러 종류의 접지전극들이 사용되어 왔다. 전주 내부에는 철근이 들어있기 때문에 지중에 매설되는 전주 하단은 어느 정도 구조체접지극으로서 작용을 하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 전주 접지선으로 시험전류를 주입하면서 주입되는 전류와 금속 접지극으로 분류되는 전류를 각각 측정하였다. 이로써 전주 구조체로 분류되는 전류의 간접측정이 가능하였다. 측정결과에 근거하여 금속 접지극의 접지저항과 전주 구조체로 분류되는 전류크기 간의 상관관계를 분석하였다.

Seismic characteristics of a Π-shaped 4-story RC structure with open ground floor

  • The configuration of an open ground floor (pilotis) is a common and very critical irregularity observed in multistory reinforced concrete frame structures. The characteristics and the geometrical formation of the beams of the first story proved to be a critical parameter for the overall seismic behavior of this type of Reinforced Concrete (RC) structures. In this work the combination of open ground floor (pilotis) morphology with very strong perimetrical beams at the level of the first story is studied. The observation of the seismic damages and the in situ measurements of the fundamental period of four buildings with this morphology and Π-shaped plan view are presented herein. Further analytical results of a pilotis type Π-shaped RC structure are also included in the study. From the measurements and the analytical results yield that the open ground floor configuration greatly influences the fundamental period whereas this morphology in combination with strong beams can lead to severe local shear damages in the columns of the ground floor. The structural damage was limited in the columns of the ground floor and yet based on the changes of the in situ measured fundamental period the damaged level is assessed as DI=88%. Furthermore, due to the Π-shape of the plan view the tendency of the parts of the building to move independently strongly influences the distribution of the damages over the ground floor vertical elements.

Landsat 8 위성영상과 AWS 데이터를 이용한 서울특별시의 지표면 온도 분포 분석 (Distribution Analysis of Land Surface Temperature about Seoul Using Landsat 8 Satellite Images and AWS Data)

  • 최근 지구온난화로 인한 기상이변, 도시화로 인한 도심의 열섬현상 등으로 도시 온도변화 및 지표면 온도 변화에 대한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 우리나라에서는 1904년부터 현재까지 기온, 강수량 등 기상 데이터를 수집하고 있다. 최근에는 종관기상관측장비(ASOS; Automated Surface Observing System) 96개소, 방재기상관측장비(AWS) 494개소의 지상기상관측망을 운영하고 있다. 그러나 지상관측망의 경우 각 설치 지점에 대한 점 데이터를 제공하고 있으므로, 측정 지점을 제외한 곳의 지상기상 데이터는 보간법을 통해 예측하고 있는 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 지상의 지표면 온도 측정의 해상도를 향상시키기 위해 위성영상을 이용한 지표면 온도를 산출하고, 그 활용 가능성을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울특별시를 대상으로 Landsat 8 OLI TIRS의 위성영상을 계절별로 획득하고, 열적외 밴드에 NASA식을 적용하여 지표면 온도로 변환하였다. 지상의 측정 자료는 AWS를 통해 측정한 기온 데이터를 활용하였다. AWS 기온 데이터는 관측소 기반의 점 데이터이므로, Landsat 영상과의 비교를 위해 크리깅 보간법으로 보간을 수행하였다. 위성영상기반의 지표면 온도와 AWS 기온 데이터를 비교한 결과 계절에 따른 온도차는 RMSE값을 바탕으로 가을, 겨울, 여름, 봄의 순서로 Landsat 위성영상의 적용 가능성을 판단할 수 있었으며, 위성영상의 시기별 평균온도와 AWS 온도 사이에는 최대 평균 $2.11^{\circ}C$이내, 최대 RMSE ${\pm}3.84^{\circ}C$인 것을 감안하면 정확도 향상을 위해 NASA식에 보정값이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
