It has become a big matter of concerns that the skill and measures against reduction of energy and cost for heating a protected horticultural greenhouse were prepared. But in these days necessity of cooling a protected horticultural greenhouse is on the rise from partial high value added farm products. In this study, therefore, a horizontal type geothermal heat pump system with 10 RT scale to heat and cool a protected horticultural greenhouse and be considered to be cheaper than a vertical type geothermal heat pump system was installed in greenhouse with area of $240\;m^2$. And cooling performances of this system were analysed. As condenser outlet temperature of heat transfer medium fluid rose from $40^{\circ}C$ to $58^{\circ}C$, power consumption of the heat pump was an upturn from 11.5 kW to 15 kW and high pressure rose from 1,617 kPa to 2,450 kPa. Cooling COP had the trend that the higher the ground temperature at 1.75 m went, the lower the COP went. The COP was 2.7 at ground temperature at 1.75 m depth of $25.5^{\circ}C$ and 2.0 at the temperature of $33.5^{\circ}C$ and the heat extraction rate from the greenhouse were 28.8 kW, 26.5 kW respectively at the same ground temperature range. 8 hours after the heat pump was operated, the temperature of ground at 60 cm and 150 cm depth buried a geothermal heat exchanger rose $14.3^{\circ}C$, $15.3^{\circ}C$ respectively, but the temperature of ground at the same depth not buried rose $2.4^{\circ}C$, $4.3^{\circ}C$ respectively. The temperature of heat transfer medium fluid fell $7.5^{\circ}C$ after the fluid passed through geothermal heat exchanger and the fluid rejected average 46 kW to the 1.5 m depth ground. It analyzed the geothermal heat exchanger rejected average 36.8 W/m of the geothermal heat exchanger. Fan coil units in the greenhouse extracted average 28.2 kW from the greenhouse air and the temperature of heat transfer medium fluid rose $4.2^{\circ}C$after the fluid passing through fan coil units. It was analyzed the accumulation energy of thermal storage thank was 321 MJ in 3 hours and the rejection energy of the tank was 313 MJ in 4 hours.
The calculation method of ground heat exchange in greenhouses has different ideas in each design standard, so there is a big difference in each method according to the size of greenhouses, it is necessary to establish a more accurate method that can be applied to the domestic. In order to provide basic data for the formulation of the calculation method of greenhouse heating load, we measured the soil temperature distribution and the soil heat flux in three plastic greenhouses of different size and location during the heating period. And then the calculation methods of ground heat exchange in greenhouses were reviewed. The soil temperature distributions measured in the heating greenhouse were compared with the indoor air temperature, the results showed that soil temperatures were higher than room temperature in the central part of greenhouse, and soil temperatures were lower than room temperature in the side edge of greenhouse. Therefore, it is determined that the ground heat gain in the central part of greenhouse and the perimeter heat loss in the side edge of greenhouse are occurred, there is a difference depending on the size of greenhouse. Introducing the concept of heat loss through the perimeter of building and modified to reflect the size of greenhouse, the calculation method of ground heat exchange in greenhouses is considered appropriate. It was confirmed that the floor heat loss measured by using soil heat flux sensors increased linearly in proportion to the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor. We derived the reference temperature difference which change the direction of ground heat flow and the perimeter heat loss factor from the measured heat flux results. In the heating design of domestic greenhouses, reference temperature differences are proposed to apply $12.5{\sim}15^{\circ}C$ in small greenhouses and around $10^{\circ}C$ in large greenhouses. Perimeter heat loss factors are proposed to apply $2.5{\sim}5.0W{\cdot}m^{-1}{\cdot}K^{-1}$ in small greenhouses and $7.5{\sim}10W{\cdot}m^{-1}{\cdot}K^{-1}$ in large greenhouses as design standard data.

Numerical prediction of nocturnal thermal high in summer of the 1995 near Taegu city located in a basin has been carried out by a non-hydrostatic numerical model over complex terrain through one-way double nesting technique in the Z following coordinate system. Under the prevailing westerly winds, vertical turbulent fluxes of momentum and heat over mountains for daytime hours are quite strong with a large magnitude of more than $120W/\textrm{m}^2$, but a small one of $5W/\textrm{m}^2$ at the surface of the basin. Convective boundary layer (CBL) is developed with a thickness of about 600m over the ground in the lee side of Mt. Hyungje, and extends to the edge of inland at the interface of land sea in the east. Sensible heat flux near the surface of the top of the mountain is $50W/\textrm{m}^2$, but its flux in the basin is almost zero. Convergence of sensible heat flux occurs from the ground surface toward the atmosphere in the lower layer, causing the layer over the mountain to be warmed up, but no convergance of the flux over the basin results from the significant mixing of air within the CBL. As horizontal transport of sensible heat flux from the top of the mountain toward over the basin results in the continuous accumulation of heat with time, enhancing air temperature at the surface of the basin, especially Taegu city to be higher than $39.3^{\circ}C$. Since latent heat fluxes are $270W/\textrm{m}^2$ near the top of the mountain and $300W/\textrm{m}^2$ along the slope of the mountain and the basin, evaporation of water vapor from the surface of the basin is much higher than one from the mountain and then, horizontal transport of latent heat flux is from the basin toward the mountain, showing relative humidity of 65 to 75% over the mountain to be much greater than 50% to 55% in the basin. At night, sensible heat fluxes have negative values of $-120W/\textrm{m}^2$ along the slope near the top of the mountain and $-50W/\textrm{m}^2$ at the surface of the basin, which indicate gain of heat from the lower atmosphere. Nighttime radiative cooling produces a shallow nocturnal surface inversion layer with a thickness of about 100m, which is much lower than common surface inversion layer, and lifts extremely heated air masses for daytime hours, namely, a warm pool of $34^{\circ}C$ to be isolated over the ground surface in the basin. As heat transfer from the warm pool in the lower atmosphere toward the ground of the basin occurs, the air near the surface of the basin does not much cool down, resulting in the persistence of high temperature at night, called nocturnal thermal high or tropical night. High relative humidity of 75% is found at the surface of the basin under the moderate wind, while slightly low relative humidity of 60% is along the eastern slope of the high mountain, due to adiabatic heating by the srong downslope wind. Air temperature near the surface of the basin with high moisture in the evening does not get lower than that during the day and the high temperature produces nocturnal warming situation.

In this study, a series of numerical analysis has been accomplished on the thermal performance and sectional efficiency of a closed-loop vertical ground heat exchanger (U-loop) in a geothermal heat pump system (GHP) considering the circulating fluid, pipe, grout and soil formation. A finite element analysis program, ABAQUS, was employed to evaluate the temperature distribution on the cross section of the U-loop system involving HDPE pipe/grout/formation and to compare sectional efficiency between the conventional U-loop and a new latticed HDPE pipe system. Especially, the latticed pipe is equipped with a thermal insulation zone in order to reduce thermal interference between the inflow pipe and the outflow pipe. Also, a thermal stress analysis was performed with the aid of ABAQUS. 3-D finite volume analysis program, FLUENT, was adapted to analyze a coupled system between fluid circulation in the pipe and heat transfer and simulate an operating process of the closed-loop vertical ground heat exchanger. In this analysis, the effect of the thermal properties of grout, rate of circulation pump, distance between the inflow pipe and the outflow pipe, and the effectiveness of the latticed HDPE pipe system are taken into account.
Investigation of the effective soil thermal conductivity(k) is the first step in designing the ground loop heat exchanger(borehole) of a geothermal heat pump system. Another important factor is the borehole thermal resistance($R_b$). Thermal response tests offer a good method to determine the ground thermal properties for the total heat transport in the ground. This is done by supplying a constant heat power into a borehole heat exchanger. There are two methods to supply a constant heat power. One is to employ the electricity provided by Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO). The other is to use electricity generated by a generator. In this study, the power supply regulation was found to reduce when the electricity generated by the generator was used. This is because the generator evaluated with the power supply characteristically reduces the power supply regulation between an overload and a complex using. But it sometimes occurs a power supply regulation in In-situ thermal response test. In this case getting of k,$R_b$ requires delay times and restored normal state. However, the effect of the delay times and restored normal state on the soil thermal conductivity and borehole thermal resistance is very small. Therefore it is possible to use a generally accepted delay times and restored normal state in the analysis. In this work, it is also shown that an acceptable range of ${\Delta}k$, ${\Delta}R_b$ for normal state and regulation state might be approximately 0.01-0.16W/m k, and -0.004-0.007m K/W, respectively. Thus, restored normal state of power supply regulation is valuable to recommend.
Remarkable air temperature increases in urban areas are known as heat island phenomenon. In this study, we analyzed the effects of renewable energy on the heat island phenomenon in urban area by numerical method. The results showed that the use of renewable energy reduces the building energy use in urban area and contributes the alleviation of the Urban Heat Island Effects.

This paper presents an analysis on the initial ignoring time of SCW type GHX using Mean Square Error method. Line source method is a useful method for estimating the ground thermal conductivity for the vertical type and SCW type GHX in Korea. The line source method for ground thermal conductivity of geothermal in-site test is the basis of linear approximation between the temperature of a borehole and logarithmic time in a GHX. To apply the line source method to the estimation of SCW type GHX, it is necessary to ignore the initial time of data at the stage of a linear approximation. This paper proposed a new initial ignoring time of SCW type GHX among various initial ignoring time at the time for reaching MSE of $0.02^{\circ}C^2$.
A geothermal heat pump system is a preferable alternative energy system in Korea because it uses the heat energy of the earth, which is environmentally friendly and inexhaustible. In order to characterize the thermal conductivity and viscosity of grout materials used for backfilling ground heat exchangers, nine bentonite grouts, one marine clay from Boryung, and cement grouts adapted in the United State have been considered in this study. The bentonite grouts indicate that the thermal conductivity and viscosity increase with the content of bentonite or filler (silica sand). In addition, material segregation can be observed when the viscosity of grout is relatively low. The marine clay turns out to be unsuitable for backfilling the ground heat exchanger due to its insufficient swelling potential. The saturated cement grouts appear to possess much higher thermal conductivity than the saturated bentonite grouts, and the reduction of thermal conductivity in the cement grouts after drying specimens is less than that in the case of the bentonite grouts. Maintaining the moisture content of grouts is a crucial factor in enhancing the efficiency of ground heat exchangers.
The validation of a groundwater source heat pump system installation site is estimated by bydrogeothermic model ing. The hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer system is evaluated from pumping and recovery tests. In addition, the temperature distribution by the pumping and the injection of groundwater, and water level fluctuations are simulated by numerical modeling. The total cooling and heating load for the building is designed as 120RT(refrigeration ton) and the ground water source heat pump system covers 50RT as a subsidiary system The scenario of heat pump operation is organized as pumping and inject ion of groundwater that is performed for 8 hours per day in cooling mode for 90 days during the summer season The heat transfer by the injected warm water is limited near the inject ion wells in the simulated temperature distribution. The reason is that the given operation time is too short to expect broad thermal diffusion in large volume of the aquifer in the simulation time The simulated groundwater level and temperature distribution can be used as important data to develope an energy effective pumping and injection well system. Also it will be very useful to evaluate the hydraulic capacity of a target groundwater reservoir.
