소프트웨어 기반 Loran-C 신호 처리 (Software-Based Loran-C Signal Processing)

  • With GPS being the primary navigation system, Loran use is in steep decline. However, according to the final report of vulnerability assessment of the transportation infrastructure relying on the global positioning system prepared by the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, there are current attempts to enhance and re-popularize Loran as a GPS backup system through the characteristic of the ground based low frequency navigation system. To advance the Loran system such as Loran-C modernization and eLoran development, research is definitely needed in the field of Loran-C receiver signal processing as well as Loran-C signal design and the technology of a receiver. We have developed a set of Matlab tools, which implement a software Loran-C receiver that performs the receiver's position determination through the following procedure. The procedure consists of receiving the Loran-C signal, cycle selection, calculation of the TDOA and range, and receiver's position determination through the Least Square Method. We experiences the effect of an incorrect cycle selection and various error factors (ECD, ASF, sky wave, CRI, etc.) from the result of the Loran-C signal processing. It is apparent that researches which focus on the elimination and mitigation of various error factors need to be investigated on a software Loran-C receiver. These aspects will be explored in further work through the method such as PLL and Kalman filtering.

통신해양기상위성 송수신자료전처리시스템의 감시 및 제어 소프트웨어 개발 (Development of COMS DATS C&M S/W)

  • COMS DATS C&M 소프트웨어는 통신해양기상위성(CONS)의 송수신자료전처리시스템에 대하여 상대감시 및 원격조정기능을 제공하는 통합관리시스템이다. DATS C&M 소프트웨어는 시스템 관리 모듈, 감시 및 제어 모들, 데이터 관리 모듈, 그리고 상태 데이터 분석 모듈로 구성되어 있으며, 특히 감시 및 제어 모듈은 위성운영센터가 기상위성센터의 백업 시스템으로 송수신자료전처리시스템을 운영하도록 결정됨에 따라 동일만 두 시스템의 동기화를 지원하도록 설계되었다. 이 논문에서는 DATS C&M 소프트웨어의 설계, 구현, 그리고 개발 결과에 대한 내용을 기술하고 있다.

고부가 정보 추출을 위한 위성 영상 처리 소프트웨어의 개발: '발라드-프로' (Development of Value-added Product Generation Software from Satellite Imagery: 'Valadd-Pro')

  • 한국과학기술원 인공위성연구센터(SaTReC)에서는 위성 영상으로부터 과학적으로 또는 실생활에 유용한 고부가 가치 정보를 생성하기 위해 '발라드-프로' 고부가 정보 추출 소프트웨어를 개발하였다. 본 논문에서는 '발라드-프로' 소프트웨어에 대해 소개하고, 소프트웨어의 핵심 컴포넌트인 기하 보정, 정사 보정 및 수치 표고 모형 생성 컴포넌트에 대해 기술하였다. 본 소프트웨어의 성능을 분석하기 위해 GPS로 실측한 지상 기준점과 $60km{\times}60km$ SPOT Panchromatic 영상을 사용하였다. 또한 미국 지질조사국(USGS)의 DTED와 국립지리원의 수치지도에서 생성한 수치 표고 모형을 이용하여 위성 영상 처리를 위해 범용으로 사용되는 P사의 상용 소프트웨어와 비교하였다. 분석 결과에 의하면 기하 보정의 경우 '발라드-프로' 소프트웨어는 P사의 소프트웨어에 비해 적은 수의 지상 기준점을 필요로 하고, 정사 보정의 경우 비슷한 성능을 갖고 있다. 또한 수치 표고 모형 추출의 경우 '발라드-프로' 소프트웨어가 P사의 소프트웨어에 비해 정확도 면에서 2배, 수행 속도면에서 4배 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

Working Principle of a Novel Three-directional Dumping Vehicle and Its Dumping Stability Analysis Under Ground-slope Conditions

  • Purpose: It is to develop an agricultural three-directional dumping vehicle that can help farmers reduce intensive labor when carrying heavy loads and for easy dumping. In addition, a novel mechanism was applied for controlling the direction of the tilting cargo box by using a single hydraulic cylinder and simple apparatus. The overturning safety was analyzed to provide safe-use ground slope region of the vehicle to be used at upland fields and orchards. Methods: The developed three-directional dumping vehicle was constructed using a cargo box, vehicle frame, driving components, lifting components, and controller. The novel mechanism of controlling the dumping direction involves the operation of two latching bars, which selectively release or collapse the connecting edge between the vehicle frame and cargo box. A multibody dynamics analysis software (RecurDynV8R5) was used to determine the safe-use ground slope area when tilting the cargo box at slopes. A computer analysis was conducted by increasing the ground slope while rotating the vehicle when the cargo box comprised loads of 300 and 500 kg and stacking heights of 40 and 80 cm, respectively. Results: The three-directional dumping vehicle was successfully manufactured, and the cargo box was tilted at $37^{\circ}$ and $35^{\circ}$ for dumping forward and sideways. The latching bars were manually and selectively collapsed with the vehicle frame to control the dumping direction. When forward dumping, the safe-use ground slope was over $20^{\circ}$ in all vehicle directions and loaded conditions. Conclusions: A three-directional dumping vehicle was developed to reduce labor-intensive work in the farming environment. The user can easily control the dumping direction by using the control panel. The vehicle was safe to be used in most of the Korean upland fields and orchards (area over 96%) for the forward dumping.

초경량 컨트롤암 개발을 위한 VPG 통합시스템 (A VPG Integration System for Development of an Ultra Lightweight Control Arm)

  • Car manufacturers and part manufacturers each have their own criteria with regard to strength, stiffness and NVH performance levels. Part manufacturers typically investigate such performances according to the part unit. To do this, the part manufacturer receives information from the relevant car maker. However, the information provided by the car maker is limited, making it difficult to develop a part which meets all of the design requirements specified by the car unit overall. To overcome this difficulty, the utilization of a VPG system is recommended for the designer. In this study, the durability performance of an optimized control arm as suggested in a previous study was investigated using the ETA-VPG, LS-dyna and FE/safe software packages. ETA-VPG provides several types of suspension and steering parts. In this study, a complete car is created using the library included in ETA-VPG, with the exception of the control arm. We also conducted a virtual proving ground analysis to predict the life cycle of the control arm.

How to utilize vegetation survey using drone image and image analysis software

  • This study tried to analyze error range and resolution of drone images using a rotary wing by comparing them with field measurement results and to analyze stands patterns in actual vegetation map preparation by comparing drone images with aerial images provided by National Geographic Information Institute of Korea. A total of 11 ground control points (GCPs) were selected in the area, and coordinates of the points were identified. In the analysis of aerial images taken by a drone, error per pixel was analyzed to be 0.284 cm. Also, digital elevation model (DEM), digital surface model (DSM), and orthomosaic image were abstracted. When drone images were comparatively analyzed with coordinates of ground control points (GCPs), root mean square error (RMSE) was analyzed as 2.36, 1.37, and 5.15 m in the direction of X, Y, and Z. Because of this error, there were some differences in locations between images edited after field measurement and images edited without field measurement. Also, drone images taken in the stream and the forest and 51 and 25 cm resolution aerial images provided by the National Geographic Information Institute of Korea were compared to identify stands patterns. To have a standard to classify polygons according to each aerial image, image analysis software (eCognition) was used. As a result, it was analyzed that drone images made more precise polygons than 51 and 25 cm resolution images provided by the National Geographic Information Institute of Korea. Therefore, if we utilize drones appropriately according to characteristics of subject, we can have advantages in vegetation change survey and general monitoring survey as it can acquire detailed information and can take images continuously.

안정적인 UAV 운영을 위한 GCS의 통신메시지의 암호화 제안 (The proposal of a cryptographic method for the communication message security of GCS to support safe UAV operations)

  • IoT(Internet of Things) 기술은 통신, 마이크로 프로세서 그리고 임베디드 소프트웨어 기술의 발전과 융합으로 인해 탄생 되었다. 그에 따른 응용 중 하나로 UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, 무인 항공기) 시스템에도 적용되고 있다. 운용상 유인용 항공기(manned aircraft)는 지상에 있는 관제 시스템을 통해 운항의 지시를 받아, 조종사가 직접 비행 기체를 제어하는 방식으로 운영되지만, UAV는 GCS(Ground Control System, 지상 제어시스템)를 통해 직접 비행 제어를 받는다. 따라서 UAV와 GCS 간의 통신을 위한 프로토콜로 개방형인 MAVLink (Macro Air Vehicle Link)가 주로 사용이 되고 있으나, 범용이고 공개적이다 보니 일부구간에서 제삼자에 의해 쉽게 노출되어 비행체의 상태 및 기타 제어 정보 등의 정보 보안에 취약하다. 본 제안은 UAV를 안전하게 운영하기 위한 GCS 내 통신메시지의 암호화 적용 방안을 제시한다.

An Automatic Approach for Geometric Correction of Landsat Images

  • Geometric correction is a critical step to remove geometric distortions in satellite images. For correct geometric correction, Ground Control Points (GCPs) have to be chosen carefully to guarantee the quality of corrected satellite images. In this paper, we present an automatic approach for geometric correction by constructing GCP Chip database (GCP DB) that is a collection of pieces of images with geometric information. The GCP DB is constructed by exploiting Landsat's nadir-viewing property and the constructed GCP DB is combined with a simple block matching algorithm for efficient GCP matching. This approach reduces time and energy for tedious manual geometric correction and promotes usage of Landsat images.

  • MSC(Multi-Spectral Camera) system is a remote sensing instrument to obtain high resolution ground image. MSC system includes main control unit, called SBC(Single Board Computer). SBC controls all the sub-units of MSC system and communicates with spacecraft bus. The software developed for SBC should be reliable and autonomous to support various kinds of imaging missions. It is being developed using VxWorks real-time operating system to manage all tasks for all units efficiently. In this paper, the characteristics of the embedded software on the MSC system will be presented. It covers the hardware related characteristics like the BSP(Board Support Package), device driver and code patch mechanism.

과학기술위성2호 관제를 위한 Ground station Baseband Controller(GBC) 개발 (Ground station Baseband Controller(GBC) Development of STSAT-2)

  • STSAT-2 is first satellite which is scheduled to launch by first Korea launcher. Ground station Baseband Controller(GBC) for operating STSAT-2 is now developing. GBC control data flow path between satellite operation computers and ground station antennas and count number of received data packets among demodulated audio signals from three antennas and also set data flow path to good-receiving antenna automatically In GBC two uplink FSK modulators(1.2kbps, 9.6kbps) and six downlink FSK demodulators(9.6kbps, 38.4kbps) are embedded. STSAT-2 GBC hardware is more simpler than STSAT-1 GBC by using FPGA in which all digital logic implemented. Now test and debugging of GBC hardware and Software(FPGA Code and CBC Manager Program) is well progressing in SaTReC, KAIST. This paper introduce GBC structure, functions and test results.
