  • In this study, computational multi-body dynamics and structural vibration analyses including some impact condition have been conducted for the ground flight test system of the developed smart UAV model. Designed ground test system has four degree-of-freedom motions with limited motion control mechanism. Design safety margin designs for several structural components are tested and verified considering expected critical motions (pitching and rolling) of the test smart UAV model. Computational results for various analysis conditions are practically presented in detail. Futhermore, proper design modifications of the initially designed test equipment in order to guarantee or increase structural safety have been successfully conducted in the design stage.

  • This paper describes the results of a series of field experiments which are carried out to assess the reduction effect of railroad vibration by utilizing waste tires. The ground vibration due to train service is measured in Honam Railroad line and Kyongbu Railroad line to assess the ground vibration with the domestic railroad line and train type before field model test. From the results of these tests, frequency on train service is presented from 5Hz to 100Hz and a range of excellence frequency is presented to be about from 20Hz to 40Hz in the domestic railroad line. Also, plate bearing tests are conducted to evaluate the variation of bearing capacity with different thickness of the waste tire layer and the fill layer. Finally, field model test is performed by using tire chips ($5cm{\times}5cm$ in size) as a reduction material of railroad vibration. The reduction effect of railroad vibration by utilizing waste tires increases with increasing the thickness of the waste tire layer and the frequency of the vibration source. The results of this experimental study was shown that the waste tire can be used for reduction of the railroad vibration.

  • In this study, the influence of priming location inside a blast hole on the ground vibration has been studied. In most of the previous studies dealing with the ground vibration, the effect of priming location in a blast hole was usually considered in a limited way. Thus, it seems that the results of the studies can be applicable only to the relevant sites. Considering the fact that the mechanism of ground vibration caused by blasting is quite complex, the priming location can have a considerable effect on the ground vibration in certain situations and be an important parameter in a blasting design. To identify the characteristics of the wave propagation according to priming locations, total 72 test blasts were carried out with different spacing, burden, drilling length, and charge, and prediction equations were derived. The characteristics of ground vibration, which was changed according to the priming location, was analyzed by using the nomogram of peak particle velocity (PPV) record. Attenuation relations, which were also dependent on the priming location, were analyzed. In this case, four different amounts of charge, that is, 0.5, 1.6, 5, and 15 kg, were used for the test. This criterion of charge amount is specified in the "Blasting design and construction guidelines to road construction" by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs of Korea.

  • In tunnel excavation by blast beneath the surface structures in urban area, the characteristics of ground vibration induced by blast and its influence on surface structures are analyzed by the field test and the numerical analysis on dynamic behaviors of the structure. According to the field test on the propagating characteristics of blast vibration through the rock mass and the concrete foundation pile. the attenuation index of peak particle velocity with distance shows the range of 1.7∼2.0 for the rock mass and the range of 2.0∼2.3 for the concrete pile. This shows that the blast vibration reduces more rapidly in the concrete pile. It is known from the numerical analysis on dynamic behavior of the structure that the coefficient of response, velocity ratio of structure response to input wave, is different according to the story of the structure. It can be said from this research that the characteristics of the ground vibration and the dynamic behavior of the structure should be well evaluated and be considered as important factors for safe blasting design especially in underground excavation at shallow depth in urban area.

  • Vibrating test of vehicle component can be possible in lab-based simulators instead of field testing owing to the development of technology in control algorithm as well as computational process. Currently, Multi-Axial Simulation Table(MAST) is recommended as a vibrating equipment, which excites a target component for 3-directional translation and rotation motion simultaneously and hence, vibrational condition can be fully approximated to that of real road test. But, the vibration-free performance of target component is not guaranteed with MAST system, which is only simulator subjective to the operator. Rather, the reliability of multi-axial vibration test is dependent on the quality of input profile which should cover the required severity of vibrating condition on target component. In this paper, multi-axial vibration testing methodology of vehicle component is presented here, from data acquisition of vehicle accelerations to the obtaining the input profile of MAST using severe data at proving ground. To compare the severity of vibration condition, between real road test and proving ground one, energy principle of equivalent damage is proposed to calculate energy matrices of acceleration data and then, it is determined the optimal combination of special events on proving ground which is equivalent to real road test at the aspects of vibration fatigue using sequential searching optimal algorithm. To explain the vibration methodology clearly, seat and door component of vehicle are selected as a example.

  • Recently the truction of coastal reclaimation work has been extensively implemented in Korea. The Sondo New City is being established on the reclaimed land from the sea, construction companies of metro construction are planing to pull-out the sheet pile for saving the construction cost. In the case of soft marine clay, it is very difficult to pull-out the sheet pile by using the hydraulic hammer difficult. Therefore, the man of the field must be aware of vibration effect to the ground and the structure. For understanding the vibration effect to the ground during subway construction, the model was formulated with 1/25 braced-cut for subway construction. Scott and Iai(1989) proposed the law of the similarity for other experimental conditions. The laboratory model test was conducted under the vibration condition of sheet pile pulling out. The settlement on the ground surface was measured during the shaking table test. The pore water pressure was also monitored in the upper, middle, and lower layers of soil. The field settlement level and the pore water pressure can be predicted by using the results of the laboratory shaking table test.

  • This paper describes the test procedure, instrumentation, verification methodology and the results of the ground vibration test(GVT) and force vibration test(FVT) of the SmartUAV aircraft to estimate experimentally dynamic characteristics of the aircraft. Bungee cords are used to emulate free-free boundary conditions of the test aircraft. The SmartUAV is excited by three shakers and one-hundred frequency response functions(FRF's) is measured. The FRF's are reduced and analyzed to identify the dynamics parameters of the SmartUAV. To extract modal parameters of the SmartUAV such as, natural frequencies and damping ratios, the poly-reference least square complex exponential method is used in the time domain. The mode shape coefficients are estimated with the least squares frequency domain method to identify the vibration modes. The FVT was performed by fixed sine frequency with three shakers on the x, y and z direction and vibration characteristics of structures and detail equipments are measured.

  • Multi-axial simulation table(MAST) is widely used in motor companies as the multi-axial excitor for vibration fatigue of target component, which provides the vibrational condition as close as the vehicle test. However, the vibration fatigue performance of target component can be guaranteed with MAST system only in case the input profile covers the required severity of the target component on field test. In this paper, the signal processing for multi-axial vibration fatigue test on vehicle component is presented, from the data acquisition of the target component to the derivation of input profile. To compare the severity of vibration condition between field and proving ground, the energy principle of a equivalent damage is proposed and then, it is determined the optimal combination of special events on proving ground using a sequential searching optimal algorithm. • Aircraft noise is the serious problem for inhabitants near an air force base. Noise by ground test of aircraft, however, can be minimized through test room construction. In this study, environmental effects of the noise by aircraft ground test were investigated by experiments under the standard act and by performance, prediction of the Hush house, constructed for the noise reduction.
