퀼축강성 변화가 측면 연삭가공에 미치는 영향 (The Effects on a Side-Cut Grinding depend on the Change of the Quill Rigidity)

  • One of the problems in grinding process using a machining center(MC) with a small diametric wheels is machining error due to decrease of the quill diameter. In this study, side-cut grinding is performed with a vitrified bonded CBN wheel on the machining center. Grinding experiments are performed at various grinding conditions including quill length, quill diameter and depth of cut. The effect on the grinding force, machining error and surface roughness due to the change of the quill rigidity are investigated experimentally. The slenderness ratio of the quill is significant factor to analyse the change of the grinding force and machining error.

  • This paper aims to clarify the effects of grinding conditions on the ground surface and bending strength in surface grinding of various ferrites with diamond wheel. The main conclusions obtained were as follows. The surface roughness becomes better at lower wheel speed in the case of v/V=1$\times$10-3, and the condition of v/V=1$\times$10-4shows the best performance for the finish grinding. When the relative contact temperature becomes lower at a constant value of v/V, the ground surface exhibits lower roughness. The ground surface shows that the fracture process during grinding becomes more brittle at the higher value of v/V. The damage depth which affect the bending strength is below 10$\mu$m in the grinding condition of S=10㎣/mm.s with the diamond tool after dressing & truing, however, the depth increases with increasing removal rate(S). When the strength degradation due to grinding is larger, the removal depth for the recovery of strength requires a larger size.

연삭력을 이용한 공작물의 형상오차 예측 (Geometric Error Prediction of Ground Surface by Using Grinding Force)

  • Because a generated heat during grinding operation makes a serious deformation on a ground surface as a convex form, a real depth of cut in deformed zone has larger than an ideal depth of cut. Consequently, the ground surface has a geometric error as a concave form after cooling the workpiece. In this study, the force and the geometric error of surface grinding were examined. From evaluating magnitude and mode of the geometric error according to grinding conditions, an optimal grinding condition was proposed to minimize the geometric error. In addiction the relationship between the geometric error and the grinding force was found out. Due to least square regression it was able to predict the geometric error by using the grinding force.

한, 일산 연삭 숫돌의 연삭 성능 평가에 관한 연구 (A study on the Grinding Ability Evaluation of Grinding Wheel made in Korea and Japan)

  • Although the system for establishing grinding operation standards mainly depends on the simulation method, it is desirable to obtain highly reliable grinding data and to develop experimental technology, And, it also needs to modify the simulation models if the simulation results do not coincide with special situation due to the difference of grinding machine, wheels and workpiece materials. If simple tests are carried out to evaluate these specificity, the reliability and utility of the system can be raised higher. Therefore, it is required for evaluating wheel ability and confirming the validity of the experimental methods as well as the possibility of exchanging the experimental data between Korea and Japan to preform several kinds of grinding experiments. In this paper, experiments of cylindrical plunge grinding were conducted using the wheels of the same specification made by three typical grinding wheel manufacturers both in Korea and Japan, respectively. The grinding power consumption grinding force, the ground surface roughness, and wheel wear were measured under the same dressing the grinding conditions. The average value and standard deviation of the experiment results were calculated to compared the grinding performance of the wheels made in both countries. The experiment results show that the grinding wheel performance of Korea's is nearly equal to that of Japan's for general purpose of grinding operation. In conclusion, it is possible to exchange the experimental data between Korea and japan.

엔지니어링 세라믹스의 평면 연삭 가공 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Surface Grinding Characteristic of Engineering Cramics)

  • In this study, grindability of some representative engineering ceramics are experimentally investigated using resin bond diamond wheel with conventional surface grinding machine, and proper grinding conditions which can be obtained from various experimental results are established also for mechanical components which are proper to domestic circumstances with high reliability. And through the results of experiment, it is confirmed that grinding energies of the ceramics, especially in the case of $Al_2O_3$, are lower than steel with same machining condition in the conventional grinding because of their fine-brittle fracture mode type removal process, though the ceramics are well-known to unmachinable materials. And moreover, the total pass numbers needed for spark-out process to be completed are depend on their mechanical properties because that grinding stiffness is different from each other. The grinding force, ginding power and ground surface roughness are also measured and compared. Furthermore, the experiments carried out in this study, some useful results are obtained with can guide to grind engineering ceramics with conventional surface grinding machine.

  • The dressing time monitoring in cylindrical grinding is very important with respect to machining efficiency. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to determine the wheel life by monitoring behavior of grinding power for WA, 19A and GC. For this purpose , we investigated indirectly the attritious wear of grain edge, the loading of grinding wheel and the breakage of grain through the grinding power and the surface roughness under various grinding conditions. From obtained the results, the relationship between the wheel life and the average sectional chip area is examined to guide for the determination of dressing time.

  • In this study, an experimental research of grinding characteristics using super-abrasives for surface carburized and heat treated SCM415 materials, which were usually used to make a linear motion guide block and were comparatively hard-to-machine materials, was carried out. In order to conduct a high efficiency and a accuracy grinding of such materials, grinding processes using CBN (Cubic boron nitride) and 38P grinding wheels have been attempted on a surface grinding machine. The grindability according to each grinding conditions was evaluated by means of a grinding force, a surface roughness and a residual stress. The experimental methods and results were presented in this paper. And also, from a proposed truing method the CBN wheels that combined a copper and a break truer gave a full scope to the wheel's performance.

  • Ultra-abrasives such as diamond and CBN have used to maintain accuracy and form deviation for superalloy etc. This study contains the dry cylindrical grinding of metals with Vitrified-bond CBN wheel. For various conditions of grinding speed, workpiece speed, grinding depth and feed speed of table, the grinding resistance, the surface roughness, and the material removal are measured and discussed.   • This paper aims at reviewing the possibility application over normal or abnormal, detection used by AE and the characteristics of grinding process. In this study, when diamond bur in dentistry with chosen grinding conditions were tuned at grinding. The variation of grinding resistance and AE signal is detected by the use of AE measuring system. The tests are carried out in accordance with diamond burs and workpiece: arcyl and cowteeth. According to the experiment results, the following can be expected; AE has the possibility to detect the state normality and abnormality. However, the grinding resistance measuring can find it difficult to detect it. It can be accurately excepted from AE occurrence pattern in contact start point of diamond but and cowteeth, grinding condition and derailment point. It is known that AErms is well compatible with grinding resistance.

  • In this paper, we discuss the machining characteristics of HDD glass. Glass is now being used globally as a data storage device, Such glasses are usually machined by lapping by this technique requires a long machining time, resulting in low productivity, For this reason, we examine the possibility of EILD grinding in HDD glass workpieces, A move to ELID grinding may result in substantial cost reduction. Our purpose is to investigate the grinding characteristics of HDD glass in ELID grinding. The bonding materials for fixing the abrasives of cast iron, cobalt and bronze are applied, and grinding conditions such as rotation speed and feeding are varied. Results show that with the use of ELID, mirror surfaces can be achieved with high efficiency.
