티타늄합금의 연삭특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Grinding Characteristics of Titanium Alloy)

  • This investigation reports the grinding characteristics of titanium alloy(Ti-6AI-4V). Grinding experiments were performed at various grinding conditions. The grinding forces were measured to investigate the grindability of titanium alloy with the five different wheels including Green carbide, Alumina, Resin Diamond, Resin CBN and Vitrified CBN. To investigate the grinding characteristics of titanium alloy grinding force, force ratio, specific grinding energy and grinding-ratio were measured. Surface roughness was also measured with tracer and the ground surfaces were observed with SEM Residual stress measurement was conducted on the X-Ray Diffractometer. Force ratio of grinding of titanium alloy was very lower than that of grinding of SKD-11 Surface roughness with Resin Diamond wheel was a little larger and rougher surface than that with other wheels Grinding ratio of titanium alloy was a little lower than that of other materials. Grinding ratio of titanium alloy with Diamond wheel was almost six times larger than that With CBN wheel. As a result of five different wheels, the most excellent wheel in grinding of Titanium alloy was Resin Diamond wheel.

  • A real depth of cut in deformed zone has larger than an ideal depth of cut. So the heat generated during grinding operation makes the deformation of a workpiece surface as convex farm. Consequently the workpiece surface remains a geometric error as concave form after cooling In this study, the grinding force and the geometric error were examined in surface grinding. Through magnitude and mode of geometric error were evaluated according to grinding conditions, an optimal grinding condition was proposed to minimize the geometric error In addition, the relationship between the geometric error and the grinding force was examined. Due to least square regression, It was possible to predict the geometric error by using the grinding force.

  • As recently optical communication industry is developed, request of optical communication part is increased. Ferrule is very important part which determines transmission efficiency and quality of information in the optical communication part. Most of ferrule processes are grinding which request high processing precision. Particularly, concentricity and cylindricity of inner and outer diameter is very important. The co-axle grinding process of ferrule is to make its concentricity all of uniform before centerless grinding. Surface integrity of ferrule is affected by kind of grinding wheels, grinding conditions, and characteristic of workpiece and equipment. In this study, surface integrity of workpiece according to change of grinding wheel speed, feed rate, regulating wheel speed and grinding force is investigate to improve the concentricity and roundness of ferrule from many experiments.

  • The surface grinding of STD-11 was attempted on the machining center. Grinding experiments were performed at the various grinding conditions and the grinding force, machining error, grinding ratio, and surface roughness were measured. The experimental results indicate that the grinding ratio decreases as the table speed and depth of cut increase. The surface roughness of ground surface was not affected by the change of depth of cut. The surface roughness values obtained on the experiments were 0.02 ~ 0.03${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ which are fairy good and acceptable for ground surface.

  • The final quality of the workpiece is affected by the grinding process that has been conducted in final manufacturing stage. However the quality-satisfaction of ground workpiece depends on the skill of an expert in this process. Therefore, the process models of grinding have been developed to predict the states according to grinding process. In this paper, in order to find the optimized grinding condition to reduce the manufacturing expense and to meet requirements of ground workpiece optimization algorithm using E.S.(Evolutionary Strategy) is proposed. The proposed algorithm has been employed to find the optimal grinding and dressing condition using the grinding process models and nonlinear grinding constraints. The optimized results also presents the guide line of grinding process. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through the experimental results.

To investigate the grinding characteristics of titanium alloy grinding force ratio and grinding ratio were measured. Surface profile of wheel was also measured with tracer and the ground surfaces and chip were observed with SEM. Grinding-ratio of titanium alloy was much lower than that of other materials. Grinding-ratio of titanium alloy with Diamond wheel was almost six times larger than that with CBN wheel.

불꽃소멸에 의한 연삭특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the characteristic of grinding by spark-out)

  • The surface roughness of workpiece is reduced during spark-out. The reduction of roughness is a benefit of spark-out, but spark-out lowers productivity. The characteristics of spark-out are different to those of plunge grinding to which feed is applied. This difference is due to overlapping cutting during spark-out. Effect of spark-out is in proportion to volume of grain wear. This phenomenon is due to different overlapping area. Dressing interval can be enlarged by spark-out, when volume of grain wear is large. In this study, the characteristic of spark-out was studied by spark-out obserbation in various grinding conditions. For this purpose thrust force, spark-out time and surface roughness of workpiece were experimentally investigated in various grinding conditions.

  • The surface roughness in centerless grinding is mainly affected by the many process parameters. For improving the surface roughness, the control of grinding parameters is very important. This paper deals with the analysis of the process parameters such as height of renters, tilting angle of the regulating wheel with respect to grinding wheel, rotation speed of regulating wheel, which are developed based on design of experiments such as factorial design. The investigation can enhance the surface roughness of ferrule. Finally, we have verified improved results of the optimized conditions.

  • Surface roughness is one of the most important characteristics in machining processes. This study presents probabilistic models to estimate surface roughness experimentally in multi-pass horizontal surface grinding operations from three independent distributions such as the initial surface roughness distributions of workpiece, the distributions of the wheel radius, and the distributions of distances between major active grains. To specify the model characteristics from surface roughness measurements, either the probability satisfying a given surface roughness or the range of surface roughness satisfying a given probability have been estimated while grinding conditions are fixed. Finally, the relationship between grinding conditions satisfying surface roughness range under a given probability can be established.

  • Although the net-shape molding of composites is generally recommended, molded composites frequently requires cutting or grinding due to the dimensional inaccuracy for precision machine elements. The surface roughness and cutting force were also measured to investigate the surface grinding characteristics of the composites using the vitrified bonded wheel (WA, GC). The experiments were performed dry grinding conditions with respect to cutting speed, feed speed, depth of cut of the stacking sequence $[O]_{nT.}$ From the experimental investigation, the optimal conditions both the vitrified bonded wheel WA and GC for the surface grinding are suggested.
