A long-term growth simulation was performed at 99 land units in Yeoncheon county to test the potential adaptability of each land unit for growing soybean cultivars. The land units for soybean cultivation(CZU), each represented by a geographically referenced land patch, were selected based on land use, soil characteristics, and minimum arable land area. Monthly climatic normals for daily maximum and minimum temperature, precipitation, number of rain days and solar radiation were extracted for each CZU from digital climate models(DCM). The DCM grid cells falling within a same CZU were aggregated to make spatially explicit climatic normals relevant to the CZU. A daily weather dataset for 30 years was randomly generated from the monthly climatic normals of each CZU. Growth and development parameters of CROPGRO-soybean model suitable for 2 domestic soybean cultivars were derived from long-term field observations. Three foreign cultivars with well established parameters were also added to this study, representing maturity groups 3, 4, and 5. Each treatment was simulated with the randomly generated 30 years' daily weather data(from planting to physiological maturity) for 99 land units in Yeoncheon to simulate the growth and yield responses to the inter-annual climate variation. The same model was run with input data from the Crop Experiment Station in Suwon to obtain a 30 year normal performance of each cultivar, which was used as a "reference" for evaluation. Results were analyzed with respect to spatial and temporal variation in yield and maturity, and used to evaluate the suitability of each land unit for growing a specific cultivar. A computer program(MAPSOY) was written to help utilize the results in a decision-making procedure for agrotechnology transfer. transfer.
This research is intended to integrate long-term operation rules and real time operation policy for conservation & flood control in a reservoir. The familiar Yield model has been modified and used to provide long-term rule curves. The model employs linear programming technique under given physical conditions, i.e., total capacity, dead storage, spillways, outlet capacity and their respective elevations to find required and desired minimum storage fur different demands. To investigate the system behavior resulting from the above-mentioned operating policy, i.e., the rule curves, the simulation model was used. Results of the simulation model show that the results of the optimization model are indeed valid. After confirmation of the above mentioned rule curves by the simulation models, gate operation procedure was merged with the long term operation rules to determine the optimum reservoir operating policy. In the gate operation procedure, operating policy in downstream flood plain, i.e., determination of damaging and non-damaging discharges in flood plain, peak floods, which could be routed by reservoir, are determined. Also outflow hydrograph and variations of water surface levels for two known hydrographs are determined. To examine efficiency of the above-mentioned models and their ability in determining the optimum operation policy, Esteghlal reservoir in Iran was analyzed as a case study. A numerical model fur the solution of two-dimensional dam break problems using fractional step method is developed on unstructured grid. The model is based on second-order Weighted Averaged Flux(WAF) scheme with HLLC approximate Riemann solver. To control the nonphysical oscillations associated with second-order accuracy, TVD scheme with SUPERBEE limiter is used. The developed model is verified by comparing the computational solutions with analytic solutions in idealized test cases. Very good agreements have been achieved in the verifications.
As a preliminary survey to improve efficiency of well-based permeable reactive barrier system for groundwater remediation, this site-scale study was carried to identify the flowpaths and controlling factors of plume at a remediation site in Suwon City, Korea. A total of 22 monitoring wells were installed as a grid system in the $4m{\times}4m$ square area by 1-m interval. For the groundwater characterization, various tests were performed including water-level monitoring, water sampling & analysis, pumping and slug tests, and tracer tests. The aquifer appeared to be unconfined with hydraulic conductivities (K) ranging from $2.6{\times}10^{-4}cm/s$ to $9.5{\times}10^{-3}cm/s$. The average linear velocity of groundwater was estimated to be $2.94{\times}10^{-6}m/s$, and the longitudinal dispersivity of a conservative tracer to be $5.94{\times}10^{-7}m^2/s$. Groundwater plume moves preferentially through the high-K zones, and the relatively high ion concentrations along the low-K zones implying deterred groundwater flow. Consequently, the spatial variation of hydraulic conductivity caused by aquifer heterogeneity and anisotropy appears to be the most important factor to maximize the effect of plume treatment system for application of in-situ groundwater remediation techniques.

The investigation of valley networks and their volume provide important information about past water activities on Mars. As an alternative of conventional image processing methods, terrain filtering algorithm using pointcloud data is suggested in this study. First, the topography of pointcloud is inverted so that the valleys become positive features and the algorithm is then applied to distinguish the valleys from the surface. Ground DEM and object DEM are generated from both the valleys and the surface pointcloud then the volume of valleys is estimated by multiplying the height difference between the surface with valleys and the area of valleys based on grid cellsize. In the test of valleys adjacent to Tuscaloosa crater, the total volume of valleys was estimated to be $1.41{\times}10^{11}m^3$ with the difference of 12% and 16% compared with the infill volume of Tuscaloosa crater and BTH result respectively.
The present USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Networks) node deployment practices have many limitations in terms of positional connectivity. The aim of this research was to minimize a redundancy of USN route nodes, by integrating spatially weighted parameters such as visibility, proximity to cell center, road density, building density and cell overlapping ratio into a comprehensive GIS database. This spatially weighted approach made it possible to reduce the number of route nodes (11) required in the study site as compared to that of the grid network method (24). The field test for RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) indicates that the spatially weighted deployment could comply with the quality assurance standard for node connectivity, and that reduced route nodes do not show a significant degree of signal fluctuation for different site conditions. This study demonstrated that the spatially weighted deployment can be used to minimize a redundancy of USN route nodes in a routine manner, and the quantitative evidence removing a redundancy of USN route nodes could be utilized as major tools to ensure the strong signal in the USN, that is frequently encountered in real applications.
A prototype long pulse ion source was developed, and the beam extraction experiments of the ion source were carried out at the Neutral Beam Test Stand (NBTS) of the Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR). The ion source consists of a magnetic bucket plasma generator, with multi-pole cusp fields, and a set of tetrode accelerators with circular apertures. Design requirements for the ion source were a 120kV/65A deuterium beam and a 300 s pulse length. Arc discharges of the plasma generator were controlled by using the emission-limited mode, in turn controlled by the applied heating voltage of the cathode filaments. Stable and efficient arc plasmas with a maximum arc power of 100 kW were produced using the constant power mode operation of an arc power supply. A maximum ion density of $8.3{\times}10^{11}\;cm^{-3}$ was obtained by using electrostatic probes, and an optimum arc efficiency of 0.46 A/kW was estimated. The accelerating and decelerating voltages were applied repeatedly, using the re-triggering mode operation of the high voltage switches during a beam pulse, when beam disruptions occurred. The decelerating voltage was always applied prior to the accelerating voltage, to suppress effectively the back-streaming electrons produced at the time of an initial beam formation, by the pre-programmed fast-switch control system. A maximum beam power of 0.9 MW (i.e. $70\;kV{\times}12.5\;A$) with hydrogen was measured for a pulse duration of 0.8 s. Optimum beam perveance, deduced from the ratio of the gradient grid current to the total beam current, was $0.7\;{\mu}perv$. Stable beams for a long pulse duration of $5{\sim}10\;s$ were tested at low accelerating voltages.

In this paper, novel ball grid array (BGA) interconnection process using solderable anisotropic conductive adhesives (SACAs) with low-melting-point alloy (LMPA) fillers have been developed to enhance the processability in the conventional capillary underfill technique and to overcome the limitations in the no-flow underfill technique. To confirm the feasibility of the proposed technique, BGA interconnection test was performed using two types of SACA with different LMPA concentration (0 and 4 vol%). After the interconnection process, the interconnection characteristics such as morphology of conduction path and electrical properties of BGA assemblies were inspected and compared. The results indicated that BGA assemblies using SACA without LMPA fillers showed weak conduction path formation such as solder bump loss or short circuit formation because of the expansion of air bubbles within the interconnection area due to the relatively high reflow peak temperature. Meanwhile, assemblies using SACA with 4 vol% LMPAs showed stable metallurgical interconnection formation and electrical resistance due to the favorable selective wetting behavior of molten LMPAs for the solder bump and Cu metallization.

QUICKER scheme has several attractive properties. However, under highly convective conditions, it produces overshoots and possibly some oscillations on each side of steps in the dependent variable when the flow is convected at an angle oblique to the grid line. Fortunately, it is possible to modify the QUICKER scheme using non-linear and linear functional relationship. Details of the development of polynomial upwinding scheme are given in this paper, where it is seen that this non-linear scheme has also third order accuracy. This polynomial upwinding scheme is used as the basis for the SHARPER and SMARTER schemes. Another revised scheme was developed by partial modification of QUICKER scheme using CDS and UPWIND schemes(QUICKUP). These revised schemes are tested at the well known bench mark flows, Two-Dimensional Pure Convection Flows in Oblique-Step, Lid Driven Cavity Flows and Buoyancy Driven Cavity Flows. For pure convection oblique step flow test problem, QUICKUP, SMARTER and SHARPER schemes remain absolutely monotonic without overshoot and oscillation. QUICKUP scheme is more accurate than any other scheme in their relative accuracy. In high Reynolds number Lid Driven Cavity Flow, SMARTER and SHARPER schemes retain lower computational cost than QUICKER and QUICKUP schemes, but computed velocity values in the revised schemes produced less predicted values than QUICKER scheme which is strongly effected by overshoot and undershoot values. Also, in Buoyancy Driven Cavity Flow, SMARTER, SHARPER and QUICKUP schemes give acceptable results.

As a recent dominant web trend, mobile first strategy has been emphasized, and interests with respect to responsive web that provides effective methodology to various mobile devices and their display resolution are also increasing. However, it is an early adoption stage in web mapping for geo-spatial applications. This study is to present some practical examples of layouts using responsive web technologies linked to geo-spatial open platform. Suggestive consideration points for further application of responsive web to geo-spatial services are presented. On test implementing, HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3 were used, and web mapping processing using OpenLayers was performed. It is expected that responsive web applications for contents derived from geo-spatial information or location data increase.

Recently in accordance with the rapid development of the industrial society, the accidents caused by dielectric breakdown have been increasing in power grid. It is important to prevent the dielectric breakdown of a high voltage apparatus to reduce the damage from electrical hazards. To establish an electrically reliable database of insulation design criteria for high voltage apparatus, a study on dielectric characteristics test is indispensable. In this study, dielectric characteristics according to field utilization factors (${\xi}$) which are represented as the ratio of mean electric field to maximum electric field are investigated. the dielectric breakdown experiments by using several kinds of electrode systems made with stainless steel are performed by AC breakdown voltage under air-insulation. Also, the experimental results are analyzed by the Weibull distribution. As a result, it is found that the dielectric characteristics of air-insulation are determined by ${\xi}$ as well as arrangement of electrode systems. It is considered that the results of this study would be applicable to designing the air-insulated high voltage apparatuses.
