초음파 격자 지도를 이용한 위상학적 지도 작성 기법 개발 (Topological Modeling using Sonar Grid Map)

  • This paper presents a method of topological modeling using only low-cost sonar sensors. The proposed method constructs a topological model by extracting sub-regions from the local grid map. The extracted sub-regions are considered as nodes in the topological model, and the corresponding edges are generated according to the connectivity between two sub-regions. A grid confidence for each occupied grid is evaluated to obtain reliable regions in the local grid map by filtering out noisy data. Moreover, a convexity measure is used to extract sub-regions automatically. Through these processes, the topological model is constructed without predefining the number of sub-regions in advance and the proposed method guarantees the convexity of extracted sub-regions. Unlike previous topological modeling methods which are appropriate to the corridor-like environment, the proposed method can give a reliable topological modeling in a home environment even under the noisy sonar data. The performance of the proposed method is verified by experimental results in a real home environment.

Development of Zonal-Embedded-Grid Method for a Polar Coordinate System and Application to the Spin-up Flow within a Semi-Circular Cylinder

  • A zonal embedded grid technique has been developed for computation of the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations with cylindrical coordinates. The fundamental idea of the zonal embedded grid technique is that the number of azimuthal grids can be made small near the origin of the coordinates so that the grid size is more uniformly distributed over the domain than with the conventional regular-grid system. The code developed using this technique combined with the explicit, finite-volume method was then applied to calculation of the spin-up flows within a semi-circular cylinder. It was shown that the numerical results were in good agreement with the experimental results both qualitatively and quantitatively.

중첩 격자계를 이용한 물체운동의 수치 시뮬레이션 (Numerical Simulation of Body Motion Using a Composite Grid System)

  • A CFD simulation technique has been developed to handle the unsteady body motion with large amplitude by use of overlapping multi-block grid system. The three-dimensional, viscous and incompressible flow around body is investigated by solving the Navier-Stokes equations, and the motion of body is represented by moving effect of the grid system. Composite grid system is employed in order to deal with both the body motion with large amplitude and the condition of numerical wave maker in convenience at the same time. The governing equations, Navier-Stokes (N-S) and continuity equations, are discretized by a finite volume method, in the framework of an O-H type boundary-fitted grid system (inner grid system including test model) and a rectangular grid system (outer grid system including simulation equipments for generation of wave environments). If this study, several flow configurations, such as an oscillating cylinder with large KC number, are studied in order to predict and evaluate the hydrodynamic forces. Furthermore, the motion simulation of a Series 60 model advancing in a uniform flow under the condition of enforced roll motion of angle 20$^{\circ}$ is performed in the developed numerical wave tank.

Dynamic reliability of structures: the example of multi-grid composite walls

  • Based on damage accumulation of multi-grid composite walls, a method of dynamic reliability estimations is proposed. The multi-grid composite wall is composed of edge frame beam, edge frame columns, grid beams, grid columns and filling blocks. The equations including stiffness, shear forces at filling blocks cracking and multi-grid composite walls yielding, ultimate displacement, and damage index are obtained through tests of 13 multi-grid composite wall specimens. Employing these equations in reliability calculations, procedures of dynamic reliability estimations based on damage accumulation of multi-grid composite walls subjected to random earthquake excitations are proposed. Finally the proposed method is applied to the typical composite wall specimen subjected to random earthquake excitations which can be specified by a finite number of input random variables. The dynamic reliability estimates, when filling blocks crack under earthquakes corresponding to 63% exceedance in 50 years and when the composite wall reach limit state under earthquakes corresponding to 2-3% exceedance in 50 years, are obtained using the proposed method by taking damage indexes as thresholds. The results from the proposed method which show good agreement with those from Monte-Carlo simulations demonstrate the proposed method is effective.

전력 IT 기반스마트 파워그리드 실증 보안 체계 설계 (A Security Design for a Smart Power Grid Field Test based-on Power IT Systems)

  • 최근 진행되고 있는 제주 스마트그리드 실증에서 스마트 파워 그리드는 특히 기존의 전력 IT 기술의 통합을 통한 전력 계통 운영의 개선을 목표로 하고 있다. 스마트 파워 그리드의 구축을 위해서는 전력망의 실시간 양방향 통신과 상호 연동성이 필수적이다. 그러나, 스마트그리드의 도입으로 인한 무선 센서 수와 통신망의 외부 노출기회의 증가는 전력망의 보안취약점을 증가시킨다. 또한, 통신망의 데이터 도청 및 위변조 공격을 통한 해커의 공격은 전력 계통 시스템에 대한 혼란을 야기 시킬 수 있다. 스마트 파워 그리드는 스마트그리드의 추진을 위해 가장 핵심이 되는 시스템의 하나로 문제의 발생시 스마트그리드의 존립을 위협하게 되므로 체계적인 보안설계가 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 국내외 스마트 그리드 보안 표준 및 전력 계통 시스템의 보안 취약점 및 요구사항 분석을 기반으로 스마트 파워 그리드 실증을 위한 2단계 보안 서비스 모델을 제안하였다.

베어링 입구에서 발생하는 선단압력에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Inlet Pressure Build-Up at Bearing Entrance)

  • In order to evaluate the inlet pressure correctly, the full Navier-Stokes equations are solved numerically for the computational domain which covers the cavity region between pads as well as the bearing film. A nonuiform grid system is adopted to reduce the number of grid points, and the numerical solutions are obtained for a wide range of Reynolds number in laminar regime with various values of the distance between pads. The numerical results show that the inlet pressure is significantly affected by Reynolds number and the distance between pads. An expression for the loss coefficient in terms of Reynolds number and non-dimensional distance between pads is obtained on the basis of the numerical results. It is found that the inlet pressure over the whole range of numerical solutions can be fairly accurately estimated by applying the formula for the loss coefficient to the extended Bernoulli equation.

효율적이고 신뢰성있는 자연요소 균열해석을 위한 균열선단 그리드 세분화기법 (A Near-tip Grid Refinement for the Effective and Reliable Crack Analysis by Natural Element Method)

  • 본 논문은 균열선단 그리드 세분화기법을 소개하고 자연요소법을 이용한 균열해석에 이 기법을 적용함으로서 그 유효성을 고찰하였다. 유한요소법에 있어서의 국부적 h-세분화와 같이 높은 응력 특이성을 보이는 균열선단 주위를 따라 자연요소법 그리드를 국부적으로 세분화하였다. 본 논문에서 소개되는 그리드 세분화기법은 2단계로 구성되며, 1단계에서는 그리드 점들이 추가되고 2단계에서는 균열선단 절점을 공유하는 델라우니 삼각형들이 나뉘게 된다. 제안하는 그리드 세분화기법의 타당성과 균열해석에서의 유효성을 입증하기 위해 대칭 엣지 균열을 갖는 평면 변형률 상태의 사각 평판을 해석하였다. 수치해석 결과의 상대비교를 위해 균일한 자연요소 그리드를 이용한 균열해석도 수행하였으며, 균열선단이 세분화된 그리드는 균일한 그리드와는 달리 이론해와 조밀한 그리드와 유사한 균열선단 응력분포를 나타내었다. 또한, 총 그리드 절점수에 대한 해석결과의 전역 상대오차에서도 세분화된 그리드가 균일한 그리드에 비해 높은 수렴율 나타내었다.

  • 지면효과에 대한 수치해석을 위한 격자생성 과정에서 발생하는 어려움을 해소하기 위하여 중첩격자 기법을 이용한 수치해석 기법의 타당성에 대한 연구를 수행하고 그 신뢰성을 검증하였다. 지면효과가 있는 경우와 없는 경우 RAE 101 익형주위의 저속 난류 유동장에 대한 수치해석을 수행하였고 다중블록격자 기법과 중첩격자 기법을 적용한 수치해석 결과를 실험결과와 비교하였다. 이를 통하여 중첩격자 기법을 이용함으로써 지면효과에 대한 수치해석과정을 정확하고 격자생성 문제없이 효과적으로 수행할 수 있음을 보였다.

  • Grid computing is an emerging technology that enables global resource sharing. In Korea, the $K^*$Grid provides an extremely powerful research environment to both industries and academia. As part of the $K^*$Grid project, we have constructed, together with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information and a number of domestic universities, a supercomputer Grid test bed which connects several types of supercomputers based on the globus toolkit. To achieve efficient networking in this Grid testbed, we propose a novel method of available bandwidth measurement, called Decoupled Capacity measurement with Initial Gap (DCIG), using packet trains. DCIG can improve the network efficiency by selecting the best path among several candidates. Simulation results show that DCIG outperforms previous work in terms of accuracy and the required measurement time. We also define a new XML schema for DCIG request/response based on the schema defined by the Global Grid Forum (GGF) Network Measurement Working Group (NM-WG).

  • It takes a lot of time and effort to generate grids for numerical analysis of problems with ground effect because the relative attitude and height of airfoil should be maintained to the ground as well as the inflow. A low Mach number preconditioned turbulent flow solver using the overlap grid technique has been developed and applied to the ground effect simulation. It has been validated that the present method using the multi-block grid gives us highly accurate solutions comparing with the experimental data of the RAE 101 airfoil in an unbounded condition. Present numerical method has been extended to simulate ground effect problems by using the overlapped grid system to avoid tedious work in generating multi-block grid system. An extended method using the overlapped grid has been verified and validated by comparing with results of multi-block method and experimental data as well. Consequently, the overlapped grid method can provide not only sufficiently accurate solutions but also the efficiency to simulate ground effect problems. It is shown that the pressure and aerodynamic centers move backward by the ground effect as the airfoil approaches to the ground.
