The prevailing infrastructure of ubiquitous computing paradigm on the one hand making significant development for integrating technology in the daily life but on the other hand raising concerns for privacy and confidentiality. This research presents a new privacy-preserving spatio-temporal query processing technique, in which location based services (LBS) can be serviced without revealing specific locations of private users. Existing location cloaking techniques are based on a grid-based structures such as a Quad-tree and a multi-layered grid. Grid-based approaches can suffer a deterioration of the quality in query results since they are based on pre-defined size of grids which cannot be adapted for variations of data distributions. Instead of using a grid, we propose a location-cloaking algorithm which uses the R-tree, a widely adopted spatio-temporal index structure. The proposed algorithm uses the MBRs of leaf nodes as the cloaked locations of users, since each leaf node guarantees having not less than a certain number of objects. Experimental results show the superiority of the proposed method.

A multi-objective optimization approach is presented for force design of tensegrity structures. The geometry of the structure is given a priori. The design variables are the member forces, and the objective functions are the lowest eigenvalue of the tangent stiffness matrix that is to be maximized, and the deviation of the member forces from the target values that is to be minimized. The multi-objective programming problem is converted to a series of single-objective programming problems by using the constraint approach. A set of Pareto optimal solutions are generated for a tensegrity grid to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.

Numerous factors contribute to the deterioration of reinforced concrete structures. Elevated temperatures significantly alter the composition of the concrete ingredients, consequently diminishing the concrete's strength properties. With the escalation of global CO2 levels, the carbonation of concrete structures has emerged as a critical challenge, substantially affecting concrete durability research. Assessing and predicting concrete degradation due to thermal effects and carbonation are crucial yet intricate tasks. To address this, multiple prediction models for concrete carbonation and compressive strength under thermal impact have been developed. This study employs seven machine learning algorithms-specifically, multiple linear regression, decision trees, random forest, support vector machines, k-nearest neighbors, artificial neural networks, and extreme gradient boosting algorithms-to formulate predictive models for concrete carbonation and thermal impact. Two distinct datasets, derived from reported experimental studies, were utilized for training these predictive models. Performance evaluation relied on metrics like root mean square error, mean square error, mean absolute error, and coefficient of determination. The optimization of hyperparameters was achieved through k-fold cross-validation and grid search techniques. The analytical outcomes demonstrate that neural networks and extreme gradient boosting algorithms outshine the remaining five machine learning approaches, showcasing outstanding predictive performance for concrete carbonation and thermal effect modeling.
In order to realize tiny bridge crack discovery by UAV-based machine vision, a novel method combining deep learning and tensor voting is proposed. Firstly, the grid images of crack are detected and descripted based on SE-ResNet50 to generate feature points. Then, the probability significance map of crack image is calculated by tensor voting with feature points, which can define the direction and region of crack. Further, the crack detection anchor box is formed by non-maximum suppression from the probability significance map, which can improve the robustness of tiny crack detection. Finally, a case study is carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in the Xiangjiang-River bridge inspection. Compared with the original tensor voting algorithm, the proposed method has higher accuracy in the situation of only 1-2 pixels width crack and the existence of edge blur, crack discontinuity, which is suitable for UAV-based bridge crack discovery.
Purpose: After analyzing the seismic capability of low-rise RC grid structures with insufficient seismic performance, the purpose of the project is to install steel slab hysteretic dampers (SSHD) to improve the seismic performance of beams and columns, and to suggest measures to minimize damage to the structure and human damage when an earthquake occurs. Method: The evaluation of the seismic performance of a structure is reviewed based on the assumption that the seismic performance is identified for the grid-type subway systems that are not designed to be seismic resistant and the installation of an SSHD system, a method that minimizes construction period, if insufficient, is required. Result: After the application and reinforce of structure with SSHD, and the results of eigenvalue analysis are as follows. The natural periodicity of longitudinal direction was 0.55s and that of vertical direction was 0.58s. Conclusion: As results of cyclic load test of structure with SSHD, the shear rigidity of damper is 101%, the energy dissipation rate is 108% and, plastic rotation angle of all column and beam is satisfied for $I_o$ level and therefore it is judged that the reinforce effect is sufficient.
A large-scale finite element simulation and modeling method is presented for environmental flows in urban area. Parallel stabilized finite element method based on domain decomposition method is employed for the numerical simulation. Several GIS and CAD data are used for the preparation of the shape model for landform and urban structures. The present method Is applied to the simulation of flood flow and wind flow In urban area. The present method is shown to be a useful planning and design tool for the natural disasters and the change of environments in urban area.
This paper proposes a feedback linearization control scheme of AC/DC PWM converters with LCL input filters using no damping resisters. Feedback linearization techniques use a transformation from nonlinear system models into equivalent linear models in a simpler form. The feedback linearization scheme in this work has cascade structures unlike usual feedback linearization, therefore it has an advantage that it is possible to limit the capacitor current to a certain level. The performance of the proposed controller is validated with simulation and experimental results.

The degrees of freedom (DOFs) of high-rise structures increase rapidly due to the need for refined analysis, which poses a challenge toward a computationally efficient method for numerical analysis of high-rise structures using the finite element method (FEM). This paper presented an efficient iterative method, an algebraic multigrid (AMG) with a Jacobi overrelaxation smoother preconditioned conjugate gradient method (AMG-CG) used for solving large-scale structural system equations running on heterogeneous platforms with parallel accelerator graphics processing units (GPUs) enabled. Furthermore, an AMG-CG FEM application framework was established for the numerical analysis of high-rise structures. In the proposed method, the coarsening method, the optimal relaxation coefficient of the JOR smoother, the smoothing times, and the solution method for the coarsest grid of an AMG preconditioner were investigated via several numerical benchmarks of high-rise structures. The accuracy and the efficiency of the proposed FEM application framework were compared using the mature software Abaqus, and there were speedups of up to 18.4x when using an NVIDIA K40C GPU hosted in a workstation. The results demonstrated that the proposed method could improve the computational efficiency of solving structural system equations, and the AMG-CG FEM application framework was inherently suitable for numerical analysis of high-rise structures.

In case of rectangular latticed pattern which shearing rigidity is very small, it has a concern to drop Buckling-strength considerably by external force. So, by means of system to increase buckling-strength, there is a method of construction that lattice of dome is reinforced by braced member. In a case like this, shearing rigidity of braced member increase buckling-strength of the whole of structure and can be designed economically from the viewpoint of practice. Therefore, this paper is aimed at investigating how much does rigidity of braced member united with latticed member bearing principal stress of dome increase buckling-strength of the whole of structure. the subject of study is rectangular latticed domes that are a set of 2-way lattice dome which grid is simple and number of member gathering at junction is small. Analysis method is based on FEM dealing with the geometrically nonlinear deflection problems.

Deployable structure is a system on which the study is being actively performed in various fields including architecture field. However, There is little study which can enhance the practicality since the interpretation condition is difficult as the unstable structure in the architecture field. In this study, the Scissors system has been focused on among the Deployable structure. The structure was developed using the Scissors system and the Mock-up test was performed. Through this, the unfolding method was proposed and the practicability was surveyed through the specific design of the Test model. Also, the structure stability was reviewed through structure analysis of Mock-up test model. and stabilizing method was proposed.
