  • Nowadays as many Grid communities appear, the requirement of singlepoint-to-multipoint data transfer in Grid environment is growing. In a typical LAN or a special purpose network environment, a multicasting technology was used in such a data dissemination transfer case. However, compared with unicasting fouler performance transfer performance the multicating transfer is worse, and the obligation of a special hardware setting makes it difficult to implement in common Grid environment. Therefore, in this paper we propose on effective data dissemination mechanism for Grid environment named DDMG(Data Dissemination Mechanism for Grid), DDMG uses P2P(Peer-to-Peer) mechanism and Globus XIO library to improve the performance in a data dissemination process and to support heterogeneous protocols in Grid environment. We also evaluate the performance of DDMG mechanism in LAN and WAN environment by comparing with unicast transfer.

By using Smart Grid system, it can support energy management such as increase quality of electrical power, decrease energy and decrease emissions. However, Smart Grid uses information of energy consumption and when Smart Grid collects information, it will create private information. In this thesis, it will address issues of security private information which caused by Smart Grid for administrative measure and efficiency of Smart Grid in domestic. Also, cryptographic module algorithm, latest security solutions and strong wireless security policy for network environment such as wireless communication Iinternet are require for Smart Grid perform successfully and protect national power network equipment from cyber-attack and can stop leakage of user's personal information. Finally, it is urgent to prepare protection measures of National industrial facilities and power grid which can prepare for a cyber terrorism and penetration attacks and build emergency countermeasure management team for Smart Grid are require for safe Smart Grid environment.

  • This paper presents a method of topological modeling using only low-cost sonar sensors. The proposed method constructs a topological model by extracting sub-regions from the local grid map. The extracted sub-regions are considered as nodes in the topological model, and the corresponding edges are generated according to the connectivity between two sub-regions. A grid confidence for each occupied grid is evaluated to obtain reliable regions in the local grid map by filtering out noisy data. Moreover, a convexity measure is used to extract sub-regions automatically. Through these processes, the topological model is constructed without predefining the number of sub-regions in advance and the proposed method guarantees the convexity of extracted sub-regions. Unlike previous topological modeling methods which are appropriate to the corridor-like environment, the proposed method can give a reliable topological modeling in a home environment even under the noisy sonar data. The performance of the proposed method is verified by experimental results in a real home environment.

  • Recently, there is a rising interest in smart grid operating system which manages various types of distributed generation, smart meters, and electric vehicles with power grid. Considering the features of smart grid environment, the interoperability should be one of the important factors to build smart grid environment successfully. To secure interoperability, smart grid operating system should conform to some standards in terms of the data representation and communication. CIM and OPC-UA are the international standards widely used in smart grid domain for enabling interoperability. They provide common information model and the unified architecture for communicating between each systems or applications. In this paper, we illustrate a smart grid operating system that we have developed to secure interoperability between not only applications but also numerous legacy systems(applications) by implementing CIM based information model and OPC-UA based communication interface services.

  • An Interactive grid generation program(KGRID) with graphical user interface(GUI) has been improved. KGRID works on the UNLX environment and GUI has been implemented with OSF/Motif and X Toolkit and the graphics language is Open GL for visualization of the 3D objects. It supports more convenient user environment to generate 2D and 3D multi-block structured grid systems. It provides various useful field grid generation methods, which are the algebraic methods, the elliptic partial differential equations method and the predictor-corrector method. It also supports 3D surface grid generation with NURBS(Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline) and various stretching functions to control grid points distribution on curves and surfaces. And some menus are added to perform flexible management, for the objects. We generated surface and field grid system about full aircraft configuration using KGRID. The performance and stability of the KGRID is verified through the generation of the grid system about a complex shape.

  • In this paper, we introduce a web-based scheduling toolkit(GridTool2), which can run simulation of scheduling algorithm in grid system. And we suggest new algorithms which apply additional communication costs to the existing MinMin and Suffrage scheduling algorithms. Since GridTool2 runs in web environment using server and database, it does not require a separate compiler or runtime environment. The GridTool2 allows variables such as communication costs on the web for performance evaluation, and shows simulation results on the web page. The new algorithm with communication costs was tested using GridTool2 to check for performance improvements. The results revealed that the new algorithm showed better performance as more workloads were incorporated to the system.

  • As an effective solution to resolve complex computing problems and to handle geographically dispersed data sets, grid computing has been noticed. Grid computing separates an application to several parts and executes on heterogeneous computing platforms simultaneously. The most important problem in grid computing environments is to manage grid resources and to schedule grid resources. This paper proposes a grid transaction network model that is applicable for resource management and scheduling in grid computing environment and presents a grid resource bidding algorithm for grid users and grid resource providers. Using DEVSJAVA modeling and simulation, this paper evaluates usefulness and efficiency of the proposed model.

  • Representing an environment as the probabilistic grids is effective to sense outlines of the environment in the mobile robot area. Outlines of an environment can be expressed factually by using the probabilistic grids especially if sonar sensors would be supposed to build an environment map. However, the difficult problem of a sonar such as a specular reflection phenomenon should be overcome to build a grid map through sonar observations. In this paper, the NRF(Neighborhood Recognition Factor) was developed for building a grid map in which the specular reflection effect is minimized. Also the reproduction rate of the gird map built by using NRF was analyzed with respect to a true map. The experiment was conducted in a home environment to verify the proposed technique.

  • In this paper, we designed the security management system based on IEC 62351-7 in the Smart Grid environment. The scope of IEC 62351-7 focuses on network and system management (NSM) of the information infrastructure as well as end-to-end security through abstract NSM data objects for the power system operational environment. However, it does not exist that security management system based on IEC 62351-7 manages the security of the power system in the Smart Grid environment, because power equipment or SNMP agents providing NSM data do not exist yet. Therefore, we implemented the security management system to manage the information infrastructure as reliably as the power system infrastructure is managed. We expect that this system can perform the security management of IEC 61850 based digital substation and can be a prototype of the security system for the Smart Grid in the future.
