HFCs 감축에 따른 온실가스 감축량 산정방법론 연구 - 발포산업을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Methodology of Calculating Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction by HFCs Reduction - Focusing on the Foam Industry -)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for estimating greenhouse gas emission reduction through HFCs used in the foam industry. This study investigated characteristics of HFCs and greenhouse gas emissions from production processes in the foam industry, which uses HFCs as a blowing agent. Also, we investigated fluorinated gas removal technology to determine a proper technology for the foam industry. And we confirmed the criteria and characteristics of External Project for methodology development. According to criteria of External Project and foam industrial process emission, a methodology for calculating the amount of greenhouse gas emission reduction in foam industry was developed. Lastly, we analyzed the amount of greenhouse gas emission reduction and KOC (Korea Of Offset) in the foam industry based on the domestic government's plan to reduce HCFCs and imported amount of HFCs used as a blowing agent. The results of this study demonstrate that linking greenhouse gas reduction in the foam industry and the domestic greenhouse gas reduction system can contribute to achieve the domestic greenhouse gas reduction goal.

Greenhouse Gas Emission Analysis by LNG Fuel Tank Size through Life Cycle

  • As greenhouse gas emissions from maritime transport are increasing, the International Maritime Organization is continuously working to strengthen emission regulations. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel is less advantageous as a point of CO2 reduction due to the methane leakage that occurs during the bunkering and operation of marine engines. In this study, greenhouse gas emissions from an LNG-fueled ship were analyzed from the perspective of the life cycle. The amount ofmethane emission during the bunkering and operation procedures with various boil-off gas (BOG) treatment methods and gas engine specifications was analyzed by dynamic simulation. The results were also compared with those of other liquid fuel engines. As a result, small LNG-fueled ships without a BOG treatment facility emitted 32% more greenhouse gas than ships utilizing marine gas oil or heavy fuel oil. To achieve a greenhouse gas reduction via a BOG treatment method, a gas combustion unit or re-liquefaction system must be mounted, which results in a greenhouse gas reduction effect of about 25% and 30%. As a result of comparing the amount of greenhouse gas generated according to the BOG treatment method used with each tank size from the perspective of the operating cycle with the amounts from using existing marine fuels, the BOG treatment method showed superior effects of greenhouse gas reduction.

  • 본 논문에서는 현재 국제에너지기구에서 국가 에너지시스템분석에 공식적으로 사용되고 있는 시장분배모형(MARKAL: MARKet ALlocation) 모형을 이용하여 국내 발전부문의 온실가스 배출감축 잠재량평가를 위한 분석을 실시하였다. 모형 운영에 필요한 입력자료를 구축하고 4개의 시나리오를 설계하여 2040년까지의 발전기술의 구성, 특히 가스발전의 온실가스 감축에 대한 역할을 다양하게 분석하였다.

  • This study examines greenhouse gas reduction potentials in cement manufacturing industry of Korea. An energy system model in the MARKAL (MARKet ALlocation) modeling framework was used in order to identify appropriate energy technologies and to quantify their possible implications In terms of greenhouse gas reduction. The model is characterized as mathematical tool for the long term energy system analysis provides an useful informations on technical assessment. Four scenarios are developed that covers the ti me span from 2000 to 2020. Being technology as a fundamental driving factor of the evolution of energy systems, it is essential to study the basic mechanisms of technological change and its role in developing more efficient, productive and clean energy systems. For this reasons, the learning curves on technologies for greenhouse gas reduction is specially considered. The analysis in this study shows that it is not easy to mitigate greenhouse gas with low cost in cement manufacturing industry under the current cap and trade method of Kyoto protocol.

충청북도 민간 산업체에 대한 온실가스 인벤토리 구축 및 감축기술 분석 (Construction of Greenhouse Gas Inventory of Private Industry of Chungcheongbuk-do and Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Technology)

  • Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of private industry of Chungcheongbuk-do were estimated. GHG emissions were classified by industry and GHG emissions ratio of each industry of Chungcheongbuk-do was found. Characteristics of GHG emissions of Chungcheongbuk-do and GHG mitigation technology were analyzed. To calculate GHG emissions, equations proposed through GHG emissions calculation guidelines published by Korean Energy Agency in 2009 were used. As a result, GHG emissions ratio of cement, semiconductor, paper and petrochemical industry was about 73%, 16%, 5%, and 2% respectively. GHG mitigation technologies of cement, semiconductor and waste were investigated. For cement, amine technology, for semiconductor, scrubber system and for waste, land fill gas utilization were analyzed.

A Study on the Estimation of Greenhouse Gas Using Oyster Shell Recycling for Paper Filler

  • This study has conducted greenhouse gas emission reduction test as using Oyster-shells originated PCC paper filler compare to non-Oyster shells used PCC. This examination was estimated and calculated in accordance with both IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBSCD). The greenhouse gas emission reduction estimation result indicates that, when oyster shells are recycled and used as paper filler, it reduces $27.97tCO_2\;per\;100\;ton$ of oyster shells. It is greenhouse gas emission $44.27tCO_2$ from PCC production changed to carbon emission reduction when replaced with oyster shell. LNG greenhouse gas emission $16.3tCO_2$ in relation to the pre-treatment with oyster shell per 100 ton is also reflected. As a result, it is assumed that roughly $0.2797tCO_2/oyster\;shell{\cdot}ton$.

유기농업의 온실가스 감축효과 (Effects of Organic Farming on Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze effects of greenhouse gas reduction in organic agriculture. To accomplish the objective of the study, a field survey was conducted. Based on the field survey results, LCA method was used to estimate the greenhouse gas emission. The farmer survey and LCA estimation data were provided by The Foundation of Agricultural Technology Commercialization and Transfer. The GHG estimation results showed that GHG emission of organic farming is less by 10.6~89.3% when compared with the conventional farming. In addition, the economic value of greenhouse gas reduction in organic farming amounts to 1,097 million won. Based on major findings, in response to national greenhouse gas reduction target, it is needed to expand organic farming, supporting organic farmers' income.

THERMAL PLASMA DECOMPOSITION OF FLUORINATED GREENHOUSE GASES

  • Fluorinated compounds mainly used in the semiconductor industry are potent greenhouse gases. Recently, thermal plasma gas scrubbers have been gradually replacing conventional burn-wet type gas scrubbers which are based on the combustion of fossil fuels because high conversion efficiency and control of byproduct generation are achievable in chemically reactive high temperature thermal plasma. Chemical equilibrium composition at high temperature and numerical analysis on a complex thermal flow in the thermal plasma decomposition system are used to predict the process of thermal decomposition of fluorinated gas. In order to increase economic feasibility of the thermal plasma decomposition process, increase of thermal efficiency of the plasma torch and enhancement of gas mixing between the thermal plasma jet and waste gas are discussed. In addition, noble thermal plasma systems to be applied in the thermal plasma gas treatment are introduced in the present paper.

혼합 건설폐기물 처리경로별 전과정 온실가스 발생량 평가 (Evaluation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions for Life Cycle of Mixed Construction Waste Treatment Routes)

  • 우리나라는 2019년 221,102 ton/day의 건설폐기물이 발생하였으며, 그 중, 본 연구의 대상인 혼합 건설폐기물 발생량은 24,582 ton/day로 조사되었다. 나머지 건설폐기물은 98.9%의 상당히 높은 수준으로 재활용되고 있다. 폐기물 부문의 온실가스 배출량은 17.1 백만 ton CO2-eq.로 총발생량의 2.3% 정도를 차지한다. 온실가스 배출을 감축하기 위해 환경영향 저감 방법 등에 관한 관심이 점차 증대되고 있으나, 혼합 건설폐기물의 발생량은 현재까지 지속적으로 증가하고 있어 이에 대한 적절한 처리가 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 또한, 분리·선별이 어려워 매립 및 소각에 의해 처리하는 경우가 대부분이며, 단순처리보다 재활용을 위한 효율적인 방안 마련이 시급한 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 혼합 건설폐기물의 처리경로별 온실가스 배출량 산출을 통해 환경영향을 검토하였다. 그 결과, 온실가스 발생량이 가장 높은 것은 소각단계로 나타났으며, 최적의 온실가스 저감 방안은 단순 소각처리가 아닌 재활용, 에너지회수를 통한 재활용 처리가 최적의 방안이라고 판단된다. 또한, 에너지화 단계의 온실가스 발생량은 두 번째로 높게 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 폐기물을 에너지로 활용하여 화석연료 사용 절감을 통해 온실가스 배출량을 감축시킬 수 있다고 판단된다. 수송단계에서는 최적의 거리 설정과 바이오연료 및 전기자동차 운행 등을 적용하여 온실가스 발생량을 최소화하는 것이 최적의 방안이라고 판단된다.

승용 및 하이브리드 자동차 온실가스 배출특성 연구 (A study on Greenhouse gas Emission Characteristics of Conventional Passenger and Hybrid Electric Vehicles)

  • Automotive manufacturers are applying technologies for greenhouse gas reduction such as vehicle weight reduction, engine downsizing, direct injection technology, variable valves and transmission performance improvement to achieve the targets for enhanced greenhouse gas and fuel consumption efficiency. In this paper, compared and analyzed greenhouse emissions according to engine capacity, engine displacement, curb weight and sales volume of hybrid and internal combustion engine passenger vehicles. Hybrid emit 32~39% less greenhouse gas than internal combustion engines through the combined mode test method. Hybrid electric vehicle's curb weight was about 7% heavier on average for the same engine displacement, while greenhouse gas was about 36% lower. It was confirmed that in order to reduce the emission of pollutants of greenhouse gases as well as the air pollutants, it is necessary to expand the supply of eco-friendly vehicles.
