In terms of the size of aquaculture farms and production volume, inland freshwater aquaculture is much smaller than marine aquaculture in Korea. However, freshwater aquaculture provides fish which is not produced in the sea. Freshwater aquaculture plays an important role in the efficient use of resources, development of local areas and economy vitalization in under - developed areas. freshwater aquaculture also helps ecosystem recovery by stocking farmed fry. As addressed above, inland freshwater aquaculture plays various roles and can not be ignored. However, freshwater aquaculture has been off the interest of fisheries authority. Considering a series of changes in the circumstances such as the government's disapproval of pen - raised aquaculture, higher standard for discharged water from aquaculture farms and a rapid increase in import of low price fish from other countries, it is difficult to expect the quantitative expansion of the freshwater aquaculture any more. Furthermore, freshwater aquaculture lost the trust of people because of the use of Malachite green, and the consumption of farmed product plummeted last year. Even though it would be difficult to expect the quantitative expansion, we could expect qualitative growth and let the inland freshwater aquaculture keep playing the own roles. In order to achieve competitive advantage and regain the trust by providing safer farmed product, the government's support and freshwater aquaculture industry's active and voluntary efforts are very important. This paper suggests several points for the future oriented inland freshwater aquaculture in Korea such as strategic intensive development of selected species, the technical improvement and its diffusion, increased cooperation among the government authority, industry and scientists.
The photovoltaic industry is one of the main research areas for regenerable energy usage and green growth policy of the Korean government. R&D programs of MEST(Ministry of Education, Science and Technology) and MKE(Ministry of Knowledge Economy) are concentrating on the development of fundamental and applicable technology which can be carried out by a so-called "Big company" consortium. So it is essential to discover and support R&D projects for small and medium enterprises(SMEs) in the photovoltaic industry. R&D projects should be funded effectively to enhance the competitiveness of the SMEs. It is a complicated process as to decide what R&D projects or key element technologies should be selected and how to support them. In this paper, the supply chain analysis is adopted as a critical tool for selecting the research areas and topics for the SMEs, which can be done by analyzing the number of the SMEs, the level of imports and the localization possibility for each supply chain element. We define the strategic products for the SMEs to deduct core technologies for each strategic product. R&D projects definition sheets are proposed for each core technology. All the decision making processes are authorized by a committee which consists of experts for academia, industries and the research field. The efficacy of the proposed framework is described throughout the photovoltaic industry.

This paper examines the actions and the factors driving those actions to reduce energy consumption and enhance energy efficiency taken by United States cities. While not much empirical evidence is available on why governments pursue practical sustainability actions, we attempt to shed more light on this important topic by empirically identifying factors that contribute to concrete actions toward sustainability policies. We adopt political market theory as a basic theoretical framework with policy-making applied to city energy consumption. Using the 2010 ICMA (local government sustainability policies and program) data, this study expands the focus of analyses to evaluate the effect of the form of government on energy consumption and energy efficiency by using multiple regression analysis. The findings show that at the city level, the mayor-council form of government are negatively associated with governments' efforts to reduce energy consumption. However, cities with at-large elections and municipal ownership are more likely to adopt sustainability actions. We also find that a large-scale economy has significant effects on the effort to reduce city energy consumption and improve energy efficiency. This shows that environmental policies are directly connected to locally relevant affairs, including housing, energy use, green transportation, and water. Thus, local level administrators could take an executive role to protect the environment, encourage the development of alternative energy, and reduce the use of fossil fuel and coal energy. These efforts can lead to important environmental ramifications and relevant actions by municipal governments.

In recent days, the study on hybridization of the heavy-duty is going on, actively. Especially, the improvement of fuel economy can be maximized in the intra-city bus because it drives the fixed route. For developing the hybrid electric intra-city bus, optimized control strategy which is possible to be applied with real vehicle is necessary. If the real-time control strategy is developed based on the HILS, it is possible to verify the real-time ability and fail-safety function which has the vehicle stay in safe state when the functional errors are occurred. In this study, the HILS system of series hybrid electric intra-city bus is developed to verify the real time control strategy and the fail-safety functions. The main objective of the paper is to build the HILS system for verifying the control strategy (rule-based control) which is implemented to reflect the Dynamic Programming results and fail-safety functions.

In this study, the trucks(2.9-liter) have been developed to use DME as fuel, and performance test of the vehicle's DME engine, power, emissions, fuel economy and vehicle aspects was conducted. For experiments, the fuel system(common-rail injectors and high-pressure pump included) and the engine control logic was developed, and ECU mapping was performed. As a result, the rail pressure from 40MPa to approximately 65% increase compared to the base injector has been confirmed that. Also, the pump discharge flow is 15.5 kg/h when the fuel rail pressure is 400rpm(40MPa), and the pump discharge flow is 92.1 kg/h when the fuel rail pressure is 2,000rpm(40MPa). The maximum value of full-load torque capability is 25.5 kgfm(based on 2,000 rpm), and more than 90% compared to the level of the diesel engine were obtained. The DME vehicle was developed in this study, 120 km/h can drive to the stable, and calculated in accordance with the carbon-balance method of fuel consumptions is 5.7 km/L.
A necessity for infants, diapers are not only used over long durations, but are also in direct contact to the infants' skin, making the choice of diaper to be of utmost importance. Current interest in cloth diapers is rapidly increasing because of issues concerning the baby's health, green environment, and economy. However, previous researches on cloth diapers are limited to simply investigating the form and material of commercial cloth diapers. There are few in-depth researches for the optimal cloth diaper development. This is therefore a fundamental research for the development of optimized cloth diapers, and analyzes the difference in absorption depending on the placement of seam line (liner, darts, and I pattern), the locations of liquid spraying (1 cm and 8 cm ahead of the center), and the amount of liquid capacity (10 and 20 ml). Currently, the development of diaper patterns considers the crotch shape of the infants and the skin length deformation. As a result, in the case of the I-pattern, the horizontal seam line prevents water from spreading to the front and back, thus reducing the absorbed area. This result was more clearly visible when water was sprayed at the center. The effect of the seam line became more obvious when there was more water (20 ml); also, when water was sprayed at the center, more leakage was observed. Using the results of this research, implementation of horizontal seam is expected to prevent the upward spread of urine.
France is known to be making particular efforts to maintain its traditional urban architectural culture by diverse measures including the implementation of urban policies. However, France is facing up to the need to pursue modern urbanization in keeping with the requirements of the current times. Thus, this paper examines with what priority France is attempting to reflect in its current urban policies its determination to retain its urban architectural tradition and to recreate its capital city of Paris as a future European hub city. To that end, the paper first seeks to analyze Paris' policies for urban architecture from diachronic perspectives in a bid to determine Paris' urban architectural culture. Second, the study attempts to examine within the purview of the paradigm of contemporary urban architectural designs how Paris is pursuing the two conflicting purposes of the preservation of tradition and modern urbanization through the Paris Local Urbanization Plan (or Plan Local d'Urbanisme [PLU]). First, the findings indicate that Paris is applying the principle of a sustainable development plan in all fields of environment, economy and society. In terms of environmental sustainability, Paris is trying to improve the life quality of its citizens through the establishment of efficient mass transportation systems and the expansion of its green belt areas. In terms of social sustainability, Paris is implementing policies to ensure social diversity through housing policies. Also, in terms of economic sustainability, Paris is trying to expand employment and bolster its urban functions by conserving commercial activities and developing peripheral urban areas. Second, the findings indicate that Paris' policy of recovering its traditions takes priority over that of creating a sustainable city.
Considering the importance of institutional foodservice in modern dietary life and its influence on the environment, sustainable development in institutional foodservice industry carries great significance. The current study was conducted to investigate dietitians' perceptions of sustainable business-and-industry foodservice and their intentions to perform sustainable practices by applying a mixed methodology. For the quantitative study, an online survey was conducted on 362 dietitians who had worked at a contact foodservice company for more than 1 year. The survey was performed from December 15th, 2011 to January 30th, 2012, and 202 responses were used for the analysis. For the qualitative a study, a focus group interview was conducted during May, 2012 with representative employees of the company. According to the results, dietitians seemed to be unfamiliar with the terms "sustainability" or "sustainable development," whereas they understood related contents and practices. Dietitians' awareness and perceived need in terms of sustainable business-and-industry foodservice were not significantly different across general characteristics. Dietitians seemed to be highly aware of the impacts of business-and-industry foodservice on economy, whereas they appeared to lack understanding of its impacts on society and environment. Cost increase and levy on work in daily operations were considered as main obstacles hampering dietitians' intentions to perform sustainable practices. A total of 88.1% of responding dietitians expected that the meal price at a sustainable business-and-industry foodservice should be higher than the supposed standard price of 4,000 won, with an average reaching 5,270 won. Findings from this study could be used as baseline information for vitalizing sustainable business-and-industry foodservice in Korea.
