  • Purpose: Since 2010, many universities in Korea have been implementing Green Leader Training Programs which are usually run by students themselves. In the last five years of 2015, the Green Leader Training Program under the sponsorship of Korean Association for Green Campus Initiative has promoted the practice of a green campus and many relative projects have been carried out in various fields. Method: We utilized the green campus component index established by the Presidential Committee on Green Growth in Korea and have analyzed 480 activities during the years of 2010~2015. Result: We found that many activities were classified into the environmental field(264, 55.0%). This was followed by university members' participation(130, 27.1%), community engagement(68, 14.2%), and university management(18, 3.7%). These results showed that the green campus initiatives were focused on the environmental field. The number of universities participating from 2010 to 2015 were 20 in the metropolitan area and 15 in the non-metropolitan are. In the metropolitan area, 81.7% of green leader activities were conducted at universities in Seoul, and those in non-capital areas were active in the Middle region(51.3%) and Yeongnam region(48.7%). On the other hand, there was no activity in the Honam region, and it shows that there was a noticeable differential by regional groups.

  • The concept of Green campus has recently become an issue with the fact that universities are classified as energy gluttons. This study clearly defines the meaning of domestic green campus, and explores the operating system of green campus and related associations. Then, it draws implications from the case of Harvard University. For the research, reports and research papers of the University are examined thoroughly, and detailed information were confirmed through visiting to the official home page and emails with authorities. The green campus support institutions of the United States are making efforts to integrate overlapping functions and create a synergy effect through internal interchange and information exchange, and substantive collaboration. Also, it is drawing active participation from students and faculties of American universities by publicizing and raising various methods of funding to manage them. The primary factors of Harvard University's success are: voluntary participation from all members, the coordinated operation of the administrative division to be the center of the green campus initiative and the cooperation of each department. Other critical factors of Harvard's success are their fundraising capability, and specialized management institution. The study has significance in that it draws applicable implications on domestic Green campus through in-depth analysis, which surpasses introduction of preceding studies.

  • At present, environmental problems are gradually becoming quite serious because of the expansion of the business scale of companies, factories, and enterprises, and that is also the reason for the global pollution of the world. Green entrepreneurship is playing an increasingly crucial role in influencing people's intentions, behaviors, and attitudes toward environmental protection through sustainable development. The purpose of this research was to examine the factors affecting university students' green entrepreneurship levels in Vietnam. To do this, we performed a scientific research survey with 773 students from reputable universities in Vietnam, 337 of whom are male and 436 of whom are female. To assess the reliability and correlation between observed and total variables, this study employs scale testing methods such as Cronbach alpha, EFA, CFA, and SEM. After evaluating the influencing elements, the findings reveal that the Subjective norm factor and the Risk-aversion component are two distinct aspects that influence university students' green entrepreneurship intentions in Vietnam and of which, the greatest influence is Risk Aversion. Furthermore, the findings revealed that the level of interest in green entrepreneurship is mostly seen by students with university education between the ages of 18-25.

  • Synthesis of nanoparticles using green technology using plants is gaining significant attention as it is an environmentally friendly substitute to conventional physical and chemical methods. The present study was focused on the chemical and green synthesis of Iron Oxide nanoparticles from ferric chloride. The green synthesis was achieved by utilizing the bio components of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles with the size range of 87-400 nm were synthesized by wet chemical reduction technique which are unstable, prone to aggregation while in green synthesis the phytochemicals present in the leaf extract acts as the capping as well as the reducing agent thus the green synthesized iron (III) oxide nanoparticles were naturally stabilized, spherical shaped and are in the size range of 2-80 nm. The results of both the protocols are compared and presented briefly.

  • Urban forests serve multiple purposes by providing green resting spaces and environmental benefits for city residents. In the old city center, where parks are scarce, the campus of Kangwon National University, Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, South Korea, serves as an urban forest for students, faculty, and citizens. This study aims to quantitatively analyze the environmental functions of green spaces on campus, raising awareness about their importance among campus members. The total carbon storage of campus trees was estimated at 1,653,218 kg, including 1,512,586 kg in forest areas, 131,061 kg in planting spaces around buildings, and 9,571 kg in street spaces. The annual carbon uptake of campus trees was estimated to be 39,391 kg/year, with 30,144 kg/year in forest areas, 8,017 kg/year in planting spaces around buildings, and 1,230 kg/year in horizontal spaces. In addition, annual oxygen production was estimated to be 105,044 kg/year, with 80,385 kg/year in forest areas, 21,378 kg/year in planting spaces around buildings, and 3,281 kg/year in street spaces. Furthermore, we estimated carbon emissions from the use of on-campus facilities to be 4,856,182 kg/year, while oxygen consumption by members was estimated at 53,975 kg/year. However, the campus trees supplied a sufficient amount of oxygen, which was twice the amount required by school members. The carbon uptake amount was approximately 1% of the amount of carbon emissions, resulting in a modest contribution to improving the environmental conditions of the site.
