  • Recently, Cook and Weisberg(l989) presented dynamic graphics for regression diagnostics. They suggested animating graphics which could aid to understanding the effects of adding a variable to a model. In this paper, using the Cook and Weisberg's idea of animation, we propose a dynamic graphical method for residuals to display the effects of removing an observation from a model. Based on the information obtained from these animating graphics, it is possible to see the influence of outliers on influencial observations for regression diagnostics.

  • In this paper, graphical representations of parameter variations affected by series or parallel feedback in the load plane were studied. As a result of transformations, all parameters of 2-port was converted to circles, and the step of noise circles and gain circles was 0.1 dB and 1dB, respectively. Compared with conventional commercial CAD softwares, the circuit design procedures could be verified much more systemically. This CAD was programmed in C-language and executed in IBM-PC with VGA graphic adaptor.

  • The personal authentication technique is an essential tool in this complex and modern digital information society. Traditionally, the most general mechanism of personal authentication was using alphanumeric passwords. However, passwords that are hard to guess or to break, are often hard to remember. There are demands for a technology capable of replacing the text-based password system. Graphical passwords can be an alternative, but it is vulnerable to shoulder-surfing attacks. This paper looks through a number of recently developed graphical password systems and introduces a personal authentication system using a machine learning technique with electroencephalography (EEG) signals as a new type of personal authentication system which is easier for a person to use and more difficult for others to steal than other preexisting authentication systems.

  • This study is a numerical representative modelling analysis for applying the process that unravels networks between cells in genetics to WWW of informatics. Using the probabilistic graphical model, the insight from the data describing biological networks is used for making a probabilistic function. Rather than a complex network of cells, we reconstruct a simple lower-stage model and show a genetic representation level from the genetic based network logic. We made probabilistic graphical models from genetic data and extends them to genetic representation data in the method of network modelling in informatics.

  • In the high-dimensional data, the number of variables is very larger than the number of observations. In this case, the impact of influential observations on regression coefficient estimates can be very large. Jang and Anderson-Cook (2017) suggested the LASSO influence plot. In this paper, we propose the LASSO influence plot, LASSO variable selection ranking plot, and three-dimensional LASSO influence plot as graphical methods for evaluating the impact of influential observations in high-dimensional data. With real two high-dimensional data examples, we apply these graphical methods as the regression diagnostics tools for finding influential observations. It has been found that we can obtain influential observations with by these graphical methods.

  • In this paper, we design and implement a graphical bio-ontology management system based on OWL(Web Ontology Language). It allows domain experts to easily manage sophisticated bio-ontologies in which biological knowledge is encoded. The knowledge can be seamlessly modeled into the ontology by well defined graphical notations, which capture most of subtle semantics inherently existing between biological terms. Our system provides a new construction mechanism, which can determine a considerable part of relationships between terms by their inheritance and inverse-inheritance. For keeping their semantics to be consistent, the mechanism supplies domain experts with information available from relationships being constructed or already constructed. The constructed ontology is basically formatted by OWL, which may benefit from its powerful semantic expressiveness. Additionally, it can be automatically translated into other standard languages without semantic loss, such as RDF/RDFS, DAML+OIL and so on. The main characteristics of our system is that it enables domain experts to delicately model the bio-ontology by the visualized construction mechanisms adopting well-defined graphical notations based on OWL.

  • In this paper a computer program has been developed using IT technologies for load flow analysis. The program is written in the Java language for the platform and operating system independence. The software technique, such as Standard Widget Toolkit (SWT), Graphical Editing Framework (GEF), and Java web start, are used for the program. The program also has Graphical User Interface (GUI) to enable users to construct power system displays through simple mouse clicks and map directly into visual power system elements on the screen. The input data of the elements of power system can be entered on the screen. The results of the program cail be checked on the screen.

  • In order to identify proteins that are present in biological samples, these samples are separated and analyzed under the sequential procedure as follows: protein purification and digestion, peptide fragmentation by tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) which breaks peptides into fragments, peptide identification, and protein identification. One of the widely used methods for protein identification is based on probabilistic approaches such as ProteinProphet and BaysPro. However, they do not consider the difference in peptide identification probabilities according to their length. Here, we propose a probabilistic graphical model-based approach to protein identification from MS/MS data considering peptide identification probabilities, number of sibling peptides, and peptide length. We compared our approach with ProteinProphet using a yeast MS/MS dataset. As a result, our model identified 27 more proteins than ProteinProphet at 1% of FDR (false discovery rate), confirming the importance of peptide length information in protein identification.

  • Goal of this study is to implement 3-dimensional underwater appearance graphical display, fishery measured information display, sonar data representation and display, and 3-dimensional underwater appearance animation based on coefficient data of chaos behavior and fishing modeling of fishing gears from PC cluster system. In order to accomplish the goals of this study, it is essential to compose user interfacing and realistic description of image scenes in the towing-net fishery simulator, and techniques to describe sand cloud effects under water using particle systems are necessary. In this study, we implemented graphical representations and animations of the simulator by using OpenGL together with C routines.

  • The problem of managing digital design data including drawings, specifications and other technical data in building design and construction units is a real challenge, especially when there is a need to structure the design information across building design companies. The main difficulty in this information management is the shortage of unified rules (or standards) on how the digital design data should be gathered, archived, and preserved in the most efficient way for building design and construction units. The most important issue, which addressed in this work, is the standardized reference of all design data definitions.
