A study for the establishment of analysis tool for the visible area of three dimensional space - Based on the Raster operation using 3D game engine - (다시점 가시영역 분석도구설정에 관한 기초연구 - 3D게임엔진을 이용한 래스터 연산방식을 중심으로 -)

  • In the late 1970s, the method of quantitative and scientific space structural analysis based on graph theory was introduced to the process of space design, which arranges design and functional elements, as relying heavily on intuition could produce errors due to unverified experiences and prejudices of the designer. As the method of space analysis is complex and hard to express visually and requires repetitive operations, it was discussed theoretically only. However, with the development of computer performance and graphic in recent years, visualization became possible. But the method of visual structural analysis of space is at the level of two dimensions and it is not easy to get accurate data when it is applied to limited three dimensional space such as an interior space. For the visual structural analysis of space, this study presents 4 indices including visibility volume level, pure visibility connection frequency, effective visibility connection frequency, and path visibility connection frequency. This study also presents space division using three dimensional arrangement rather than the existing vector operation method and raytracing algorithm at the lattice constant. Based on this, an analysis tool for the visible regions of three dimensional space that is capable of evaluating at multiple points by using three dimensional game engine and presentation tool that allows the analyzer to interpret the data effectively is made. It is applied to 2 prototype models by displacing Z axis, and the results are compared with UCL Depthmap to verify the validity of data and evaluate its usefulness as a multidimensional, multi-view space analysis tool.

By giving questionnaires that compare print advertisements using the optical illusion design method and traditional print magazine advertisements without adopting the method, the paper performs a quantitative analysis of technical statistics along with a factor analysis of reliability and exploration using IBM SPSS 27.0. when designing through visual illusion expression methods, you can design from the perspective of visual impact and how the information contained in the product is expressed.   • The high-tech computer technology developments have greatly affected the area of design education. Starting from the mid 80s, innovations in visual presentation methods have heightened with 2D computer graphic programs, CAD & 3D modeling, and Rapid Prototype that allows dimensional generation. The specialty and quality in design studio education have advanced due to the development in presentation methods such as Power Point and Keynote. But there are many problems with the current method of presenting the visual outcome in a data format using beam projectors, which is a vertical presenting method compared to the old studio study method of conducting discussions and reviews based on the substantial outcome. The essence of studio study that allows for comparisons and analysis by horizontally opening up the various work outcomes is being offset. Also the requirement for manual idea sketching work that plays an important role in the initial design phase continuing to decrease due to the digital working process dependence and cumbersome procedures in the presentation. In order to resolve this problem, the CALM system (Class Applied LCD Modular System) has been developed that replaces the method of attaching the sketches or renderings on the wall with a digital multi-display system. In a nutshell, individuals will upload the outcomes online and display them on the CALM system studio that is composed of 32 LCD (Columns: 4 $\times$ Rows: 8) monitors that are 19 inches in size so that various personnel can openly study the design outcomes. Also the central 42 inch PDP monitor that offers touch pad capability allows each design outcome to be described and examined by expanding. The concept phase of this development process has elevated to the production of an operating prototype that is being reviewed of its practicality. It is considered that the development of this system will decrease the extreme tendency of depending on digital operation but achieve revitalization of a more realistic and opened studio study environment compared to the individual consulting method of the old study approach.

  • Game graphics provide players with a sense of immersion, leading to active participation. This paper aims to analyze the mythological meaning for symbolic design of game skill visual effects that reproduce the narrative and the worldview of games borrowing myths. The research method classified the visual effect image into a symbol of the form of a universal archetype representation and a symbol of color expressing the narrative in the game, and analyzed it by applying Roland Barthes' semiological scheme. Through this study, it was possible to analyze the meaning of visual effects as a mythical meaning that can be universally sympathized and an implicit meaning that symbolizes the narrative of the game. The symbolic expression of the visual effect, which reproduces the narrative of the game reflecting the myth, can induce players to engage and participate, and the design direction was intended to provide the visual effect to have a unique symbolism that reflects the game's mythical worldview of the game.

  • Daylighting in building is very important as it has an effect on work performance as well as on their visual health. It is also regarded as a good energy conservation measure in saving energy used for lighting. There are many daylighting evaluation tools such as empirical equations, tables, nomograms, diagrams, protractors, computer simulation, scale models. This study conducted initial daylight measurements to analyze luminous environment in classrooms of elementary school and comparative analysis on three daylighting evaluation tools, such as daylight factor calculation formula, the graphic method with BRE Protractor and computer simulation with Adeline 3.0. It is found that the computer simulation tool produced the closest result to actual measurements of luminous environment in elementary school classroom, and the other simplified tools made appropriate results so that they can be used in the early stage of daylighting design process.

  • The CAD system for design and drawing of limit gauges was constructed and developed. This system was made by Visual Basic program. Using this system, drawings together with concerned data for the manufacturing of limit gauges are generated on the screen, file and printer. The data base was constructed by referring handbooks, textbooks, relevant standards and regulations. This system was proved a powerful tool for design and drawing of limit gauges by actual applications. The output drawings from this system are in good agreement with the drawings and data of the concerned standards and regulations.

DGA Interpretation of Oil Filled Transformer Condition Diagnosis

  • DGA is one of the most recent techniques developed to diagnose the fault condition on oil filled insulation transformers. There are more than 6 known different methods of DGA fault interpretation technique and so there is the likelihood that they may vary in their interpretations. A series of combined interpretation methods that can determine the power transformer condition faults in one assessment is therefore needed. This paper presents a computer program- based system developed to combine four DGA assessment techniques; Rogers Ratio Method, IEC Basic Ratio Method, Duval Triangle method and Key Gas Method. An easy to use Graphic User Interface was designed to give a visual display of the four techniques. The result shows that this assessment method can increase the accuracy of DGA methods by up to 20% and the no prediction result had been reduced down to 0%.

  • For almost of concrete structures by placing in cold weather, it is very important that the selection of curing method at early aged construction stage. The Exothermic curing method with hot wire and rapid hardening cement is used mostly to prevent the initial cracks and the strength decrease. Most of the construction sites, however, have not been applied to the optimal curing method caused by the simple approaches and the empirical judgements. Therefore, this paper has proposed a evaluation algorithm of the exothermic curing method for representing heating temperature, period, position of hot wire by analyzing the transient heat transfer solution. This has been implemented, moreover, using an object oriented programming language to develop structural analysis system taking account risk parameters. This system is composed of input module, database module, database store module, analysis module, and result generation module. Linkage interface between the central database and each of the related module is implemented by the visual c# concept. Graphic user interface and the relational database table are supported for user's convenience.

  • The Sign system of nursing home plays an important role when an elderly adapts to new environment and gets on daily life autonomously. Common living spaces are expecially important in maintaining social nature, adequate signage should be installed to aid them in finding their ways. Sign system is a comprehensive system consisted of various factors. In this research, it has been categorized as signage and cueing. Signage includes text and graphic signs, and cueing consists of floor plan configuration and sensual mechanism of visual, auditory, olfactory senses. Using this framework, held investigation and analysis were held in common area(shared living room, shared dining room, toilet) of 14 Korean, 8 Northern European, and 10 Japanese nursing home facilities. The result revealed that even though sign system should work as a combined unit, each factor was planed without relations to each other and did not perform mutually complementary role. Signage was installed too high, without considering the posture of elderly. Korean facilities used abundant and diverse signage compared to other countries. Japanese nursing home preferred cueing method over signage, and those of Northern Europe used plentiful visual cues such as color and ornaments.

Color Image Analysis of Cosmetic Web-Site for Color Marketing

  • This study aims to derive the sensitive image analysing the color tones based on the web-sites of cosmetic brand and to know how the web-site color tones and the color tone image as visual factor for information transfer do influence the effective communication. 10 cosmetic brand web-sites are selected based on the pre survey, and the main page color tones of cosmetic brand web-site are analyzed by Color Catch and Munsell Conversion program, whereas the composition of color tones and color image such as the main trend colors, secondary colors, accent colors and etc are analyzed by a graphic professional program 'Adobe Photoshop'. 5 color tone groups are classified as Black&White, Green&White, Blue&White, Purple&White and Red&White according to the color distribution chart, and the emotional language is derived applying them to the pre research and IRI image scale. The color association is empirically analyzed by a survey method. The study results finally show Black&White is proper for expression of high quality and modern image, Green&White for pure and clean image, Blue&White for cool and transparent image, Purple&White for mysterious and elegant image respectively. This study results are necessary for plan of color delivering the strong transferring power of visual information the time when to make the effective web-sites, and it hopefully will be utilized as the basic data for the color marketing to actively express the brand identity and to satisfy the consumers' sensitivity.
