Design of Graphic User Interface for Collaborative Display and Smart User Interaction (협업 환경 디스플레이와 지능형 사용자 인터랙션을 위한 그래픽 유저 인터페이스 설계)

  • 빠른 인터넷의 보급과 빈번하게 발생하는 원격지 구성원간의 협업으로 인해서 쉽고 편리하게 이용 가능한 다자간 협업 환경의 필요성이 대두되었으며 현재 이와 관련한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 커뮤니티 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 원격 협업을 지원하기 위한 구성 기술로는 먼저 지능형 원격협업을 지원할 수 있는 시스템 및 네트워킹 구조를 설계하는 기술, 다양한 종류의 입력 채널의 내용을 동시에 보여줄 수 있는 디스플레이를 제공하는 기술, 협업 구성원 간의 자연스러운 데이터 및 태스크 마이그레이션 기반 기술, 그리고 다양한 사용자 인터랙션을 제공하는 기술 등이 있다. 그러나 무엇보다도 사용자 편의성 면에서는 위치적인 이질감을 극복하고 현장감 있는 공동 작업을 지원할 수 있는 사용자 인터랙션 기술이 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 인터랙션을 지원하기 위한 다양한 인터랙션 기술을 소개하며 사용자의 인터랙션이 발생했을 경우 사용자의 의도에 따라 변경된 협업 환경, 특히 공통 디스플레이 화면의 변경 정보를 사용자 컨트롤 머신에도 Graphic User Interface(GUI) 기술을 통해 제공하는 방안이 논의되어 진다.

A Study on the Usability of Graphic User Interface by the User Behavior in a Mobile Music Streaming App (모바일 음악 스트리밍앱의 사용자 행태에 따른 GUI 사용성 연구)

  • As the market of music download stores moved into the mobile epoch the market was growing explosively. Recently, the digital music market tends to move from the mp3 download market to streaming service and the users can use the service on their mobile devices without reference to any inconvenient download and limited storage capacity. It was found that they mainly use the recommendation music playlist, instant player, main player and sharing of the functions of the streaming service from the user behavior research. This is noticeable features that set apart from the mp3 download service. However, the interface design of the streaming app followed the previous service and it needs the optimization of its UI design. In this study, the usability of high ranked three mobile streaming apps was evaluated. The result of the test was that Naver music and Bugs had high scores overall in four sections of the streaming service features. On the other hand, the Melon had primarily high score in color application on the service. The aim of this study is to suggest the direction of the UI design of music streaming service through the understanding of essence of streaming service and evaluation the usability test.

  • With the development of digital technologies, CAID became an essential part in the industrial design process. Creating photo-realistic images from a virtual scene with 3D models is one of the specialized task for CAID users. This task requires a complex interface of setting the positions and the parameters of camera and lights for optimal rendering results. However, the user interface of existing CAID tools are not simple for designers because the task is mostly accomplished in a parameter setting dialogue window. This research address this interface issues, in particular the issues related to lighting, by developing and evaluating TLS(Tangible Lighting Studio) that uses Augmented Reality and Tangible User Interface. The interface of positioning objects and setting parameters become tangible and distributed in the workspace to support more intuitive rendering task. TLS consists of markers, and physical controller, and a see-through HMD(Head Mounted Display). The user can directly control the lighting parameters in the AR workspace. In the evaluation experiment, TLS provide higher effectiveness, efficiency and user satisfaction compared to existing GUI(Graphic User Interface) method. It is expected that the application of TLS can be expanded to photography education and architecture simulation.

  • In this research, a tool was developed for the rapid performance of three-dimensional finite element analysis (3D FEA) of a machine tool spindle system made of a shaft and bearings. It runs the FEA with data, such as the bearing stiffness and the coordinates of the points, to define the section of the shaft, bearing positions, and cutting point. developed for the spindle system and then implemented with the tool using an object-oriented programing technique that allows the use of the objects of the CAD system used in this research. Graphic user interfaces were designed for a user to interact with the tool. It provides rapid evaluation of the design of a spindle system, and therefore, it would be helpful to identify a near optimal design of a spindle system based on, say, static stiffness with design changes and, consequently, FEA.

  • In recent years, graphics authoring tools have evolved into a variety of formats in line with the rapidly changing digital design field. However, in the field of interface design, screen shape and size depending on the user's environment, it needs more flexible and scalable authoring tools. Along with the emergence of variety of new tools, work processes are also changing. This study investigates what kinds of graphic authoring tools are currently used by designers and compared the result to the case of overseas and examined the difference in the environment of graphic authoring tool. This study looked at criteria and satisfaction of designers choosing authoring tools and how the choice depends on the type of company we are working in and the type of project we are involved in. Research shows that the choice of authoring tools depends on the type and efficiency of the project. Based on this, a reference is provided to establish the standard and working environment for designers and companies to select graphic authoring tools and propose the future direction of graphic authoring tool environments.

  • 3D simulation programs or games on a smart phone and a personal computer have often employed 3D graphic processing techniques and 3D graphical views. However, the user interfaces in those 3D programs have sticked to take a typical 2D style user interface and thus the combination of a 2D user interface view and a 3D simulation view give us a mismatched sense. Since a 2D user interface has been based on the windows controls, it causes sometime DC conflicts between a simulation view and an interface view. Therefore, we will implement the UI developing tool which can be inserted into the pipeline structure for the development of a 3D simulation software and also follows the view-handler design pattern in Microsoft windows system. It will provide various graphical effects such as the deformation of UI depending on the view direction of simulation view and the sitting pose of user. This developing tool gives the natural user interface which heightens the sense of unity with a given 3D simulation view.

  • In this study, a simple, efficient, user-based program called SCAR was developed for evaluating the sliding and collapse of artificial reefs due to hydrodynamic forces in ocean environments. SCAR was developed by applying Delphi code and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) based on the Morison formula for evaluating and analyzing the stability of artificial reefs. SCAR can be applied widely for design and stability evaluation of fishery structures (such as artificial reefs or other underwater structures) in undergraduate and graduate courses and by experts in the field.

  • By the advent of an era of digital convergence, the user-friendly DTV graphic user interface (GUI) techniques become very important because of the explosive consumption of DTV receiving modules. This paper describes the design and implementation of GUI of menu-driven type for the operation of HDTV MPEG module. The designed GUI is convenient and user-friendly. Main menu is created by forming a new window and is located on the top area of the window in the structure of 1 by 3 matrix. Thus main menu, sub-manu, and lower-level menu can be displayed on a screen. The menu-driven DTV GUI was acomplished by using new styles and icons.

Forward kinematics, inverse kinematics and robot dynamics modeling were included in the developed program. The interface between users and the off-line program system in the Windows 95's graphic user interface environment was also studied. The developing language is Microsoft Visual C++. Graphic libraries, OpenGL, by Silicon Graphics, Inc. were utilized for 3D graphics.
