Development of an Escalator Simulation Program for a Designer (설계자를 위한 에스컬레이터 전용 시뮬레이션 프로그램 개발)

  • When an escalator is developed or modified to improve its performance, estimation of dynamic characteristics of the escalator is required. But modeling of the escalator for a design purpose is very difficult and time consuming. Especially, it is very difficult for a designer to use the simulation model during design process because preparing a proper model takes time and also the designer needs to know how to use the simulation program. In order to solver these problems, a graphic user interface program that can predict dynamic characteristics of an escalator is developed for the designer. Since this program makes the necessary escalator model for simulation for itself, the designer does not need to know how to use the simulation program while design is in progress. In this paper, a designer oriented interface program is developed and an example is presented to show the effectiveness of the developed program.

  • Visual perception is ability that analyze visual information about things accepting through eyes in central nervous system. That is, it is ability that recognize and discriminates a visual stimulus, and analyzes by combining such stimulus with previous experience. At today, work which clears visual perception obstacle's cause through visual perception test and grasps all special quality of visual perception obstacle's is used method of treating that improve visual perception obstacle by visual perception training program. Present, visual perception test tools using the paper and pens are used mainly on psychological consultation of welfare facilities and education for the handicapped or occupational therapy, but a lot of problems are discovered in it. Therefore, purpose of this paper is to develop prototype of web-based visual perception test program that can construct to database to solve existing problem, and to design graphic item. As a result, classified measurement pattern that can diagnose visual perception by three, and illustrated development direction of graphic item for examination with this. Also, extracted check list item that should consider for design and construction of visual perception test program and the variable for feasibility study of believability, and presented process for prototype development.

  • In this paper an automated hole-finding method for overset grids is introduced which uses recursive octree-cell division. A graphic program which enables the user to do the hole-cutting with ease is also introduced. Using this program it is found that there is an optimum combination of the level of octree division and vector calculation for the efficient and fast hole finding.

  • An application-oriented approach to automatic pass schedule design in shape rolling was presented in this paper. The design approach and its related program are composed of several modules for input data, graphic display, data processing, calculation of design information, drawing of detailed pass shapes, database management and finite element analysis for design verification. The developed program was applied to automatic pass schedule design for a square-to-round bar shape rolling.

  • This paper proposes a simulation method of train control system to increase railroad transportation capacity in the Seoul Subway. Comparing with the conventional fixed block system, a new train operation method of "moving block system" shows a more capability of same railroad. A graphic simulation program is developed for application of moving block system to Seoul subway train control system. The result of the simulation program shows a shorten headway i.e. a more dense operation of trains and a higher efficiency of railroad with the suggested moving block system.

  • We developed a low cost digital X-Ray image capturing system using a CCD camera, instead of using the high cost image plate and image intensifier. In order to reduce the system volume, we directly made the dark box shorter than the previous model. Using the graphic language, we developed a program in order for post-processing the images captured by the CCD camera. This program improves the image resolving power.

  • In the present study, a post-processing program is developed for 3D data visualization and analysis. Because the graphical user interface(GUI) of the program is based on Qt-library while all the graphic rendering is performed with OpenGL library, the program runs on not only MS Windows but also UNU and Linux systems without modifying source code. The structure of the program is designed according to the object-oriented programming(OOP) concept so that it has extensibility, reusability, and easiness compared to those by procedural programming. The program is organized as modules by classes, and these classes are made to function through inheritance and cooperation which is an important and valuable concept of object-oriented programming. The major functions realized so far which include mesh plot, contour plot, vector plot, streamline plot, and boundary plot are demonstrated and the relevant algorithms are described.
