This study attempts to systematically analyze a red carpet style. I have researched the Academy Awards called representative film awards which symbolizes international fame and the Grammy Awards which is the most prestigious award in the music industry by subdividing into formative elements such as silhouette, color, fabric, pattern, detail, accessory, fashion image, and so on from 2000 to 2012. Firstly, when it comes to silhouette, mermaid silhouette accounts for the highest proportion in the Academy Awards. Compared to this, fit silhouette is shown almost the same percentage as the mermaid silhouette in the Grammy Awards. Secondly, with regard to color, black color has not only the highest percentage but also examples of different unit forms such as various color, showy gradation and single colors. Various colors in the Grammy Awards have similar percentage in comparison with the Academy Awards. Thirdly, in terms of fabric, silky material is often used most, which looks like putting more weight on dresses for the formative elements of clothes. Fourthly, in pattern, patternless dresses are represented by high percentage at both the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards. Dresses with patterns have mild, stylistic elements and geometric designs. The Grammy Awards shows many different unique patterns, color and size, compared to the Academy Awards. Fifthly, in detail, frill and ruffle ornaments are shown most at the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards. Especially in the Grammy Awards, beads ornaments are used most. Sixthly, in accessory, there are many accessories of graceful, elegance styles in the Academy Awards. On the contrary to this, there are many accessories to effect on many performances of large, fancy, unique styles. Seventhly, elegance images of a goddess style among fashion images emerge as fashion of the Academy Awards. In spite of romantic styles in the Grammy Awards, many various images are the same rate as there, which means different appearance of experiment and sensational styles.

This study examines how Latinidad can be reclaimed as a site for exploring affinities of Latinos in Latin music industry, especially from the 90s. By looking at sites where Latinidad is constituted, such as the case of Jennifer $L{\acute{o}}pez$ becoming Selena, it intends to suggest that the concept can be deployed as a political bridge to connect latinos. And by examining Cuban-American artists' self identification in Latin Grammy Awards, it reveals that the latin music business definitions of Latinidad is coded differently for them as 'Caribbean' to erase a natural resonance of Cuba. In addition, by dealing with Shakira's somewhat contradictory representation of Colombianidad, the study argues that Latinidad serves as a social construct and newly emerges as a convenient interstitial place between the Latin American and the US Latino. Shakira's case serves to show how the transnational trends of latin music contribute to create a simultaneous sense of Latinidad and Colombianidad. Focusing on the commercial significance of understanding of what latino is or should be, this paper aims to interrogate current understandings of Latinidad in the realm of latin music and popular culture.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo는 남아프리카공화국의 전통적인 줄루 아카펠라와 미국흑인음악의 영향을 받은 남성그룹이다. 미국의 주빌리 합창단이 1870년대에 남아프리카공화국에 와서 공연을 하면서 남아프리카공화국의 음악에 영향을 미쳤다. 토착적인 줄루족의 아카펠라와 미국의 주빌리 음악 스타일이 만나 탄생한 음악이 Ladysmith Black Mambazo의 음악이라고 할 수 있다. 이들은 Paul Simon의 앨범 『Graceland』에 참여하게 되면서 전세계적으로 유명해진다. 앨범은 수백만 장의 판매고를 올리게 되고 그래미 어워즈에서 수상을 하게 되었다. 그 후로도 자신들만의 앨범을 발매하여 그래미어워즈에서 총 5회의 수상을 하게 되고, 15회 노미네이트 되었다. 그들은 음악적 유산보존을 철학으로 삼아 줄루족의 음악을 계승·발전시켰다. 같은 비서구권 국가로서 법고창신의 정신을 돌아보고 우리나라의 뮤지션들에게 좋은 영향력이 되길 바라며 Ladysmith Black Mambazo의 'Black Is Beautiful'과 'Homeless'의 음악 분석을 통하여 이들의 음악이 서양의 음악에서 받아들인 점과 자신들만의 전통음악에서 계승해나가고 있는 점들을 알아보았다.

팻 메스니는 1976년도에 데뷔한 이후 현재까지 장르를 재즈에 국한하지 않고 다양하고 실험적인 음악으로 대중에게 어필하였다. 50여장에 이르는 그의 앨범들은 그래미상(Grammy Award)를 20차례나 수상하였고, '골드 디스크(Gold Disc)' 상을 3차례나 수상할 정도로 '예술성'과 '음악성'을 인정받았다. 이러한 이유로 그의 음악은 단순히 재즈라는 한 단어로 표현하기는 힘들다. 기초 화성학에서는 기본적으로 메이저 코드에서 사용하는 스케일과 마이너 코드에서 사용하는 스케일이 정해져 있다. 예를 들어 메이저 코드에서는 Ionian Scale이나 Lydian 스케일을 주로 사용하고, 마이너 코드일 때는 Dorian Scale이나 Phrygian Scale, 그리고 Aeolian Scale을 주로 사용한다. 또 m7b5 코드 일 때는 당연히 Locrian Scale을 사용하는 것이 일반적이다. 하지만 팻 메스니의 스케일을 분석한 결과 메이저 코드일 때 Dorian Scale을 사용한다던지, 또 마이너 코드일 때 Lydian Scale을 사용하여 Lick을 만들었다. 그리고 도미넌트 코드 일 때 사용하는 여섯 가지 스케일도 다양하게 사용하지만 의외로 Dorian Scale이나 Lydian Scale을 자주 사용하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 어떤 마디에서는 Ionian Scale과 Aeolian Scale을 같이 사용하여 Lick을 만들었는데, 이런 경우에는 그 마디의 전체적인 느낌이 메이저의 밝은 느낌과 마이너의 어둡고 쓸쓸한 느낌을 동시에 표현하기 때문에 아주 독특한 분위기를 연출하기도 한다. 또 블루스의 열두 마디 패턴을 빌려와서 사용하면서 블루스 스케일은 사용하지 않고 Ionian Scale과 Lydian Scale, Mixo-Lydian Scale을 주로 사용하여 Lick을 만드는 스타일을 보여 주기도 하였다.
